Tbh the playing side isn't what concerns me, more the negative impact on the dressing room, wages and price. Especially the price because i think we could use that money in much better ways.

That is one of the reasons i dont want us to go through with this. 1. 12m is too much IMO 2. We are building a squad who are good technically and versatile, Carroll is the complete opposite. 3. I have concerns about his possible negative impact on the dressing room. 4. As mentioned i'm certain his wages would be silly. Positives are from a playing point of view, if Cisse and Ba for some reason are not cutting it then we can bring on a battering ram forward to break down defenses. And ofcourse if he gets back to form, then we make Liverpool look like right idiots again. But the negatives outweigh the positives for me, i'd rather use the 12-13m mooted on a forward and a midfielder ( if this money doesnt effect the money for a CB and RB.)

Insane money. Would rather have Carroll back for £12m. I'd rather pay 16m for De Jong than pay 12m for Carroll tbh. I wouldn't. The cheaper option is much more proven at this level. The point about bringing in players from leagues like the Eredivisie is that they provide better price vs quality. Luuk de Jong at 16 million doesn't quite frankly. While all that is true, at least De Jong has the versatility to fit different systems and actually has the potential to be worth that amount of money. While Carroll is just a huge waste at 12m especially when you consider he isn't much more than a rotation option. I wouldn't do either deals personally, but if i was backed into a corner and i had to make one of those deals i'd take the De Jong one.

Neither would i, but if i had the choice between paying 12m for Carroll and 16m for De Jong i would pay for 16m for De Jong.

From what i have seen of Guidetti (which isnt much mind you ) i would take him over Carroll all day long. Good movement, versatile and creates for others as well as scores and considering City's overload of strikers i cant see him costing anywhere near 12m. Especially when you consider he has 1 year left.

Could the same be applied to Demba Ba, and can we expect it from Cisse too? Difference being, that Ba and Cisse have proven to be able to score goals their entire career. Carroll only proved it over a 6 month basis. To those asking were you happy about bidding 10m De Jong? Yes i was because De Jong has much higher potential than Carroll, more versatile and really just an all round better footballer. It's not even comparable really.

Not really, we only have 3 strikers and 2 of them might be f*cking off for a month in January. We need a striker, i just dont think it should be Carroll especially for the money mooted. With that money we could sign 2 or 3 quality players in various positions. I liked it at first, but unless we are ripping off Liverpool to extreme levels then i'd rather us look elsewhere.

Depends entirely on his status in the squad, wage demands and how much we will have to pay for me. He shouldn't be starting as long as Cisse is available, his wage demands should fall in line with the rest of the squad i.e. sensible and if he cost's more than 10m then we shouldn't. There's lots of things that has to happen for it to make sense IMO. 10m or less, sensible wages and acceptance for Carroll that he's not guaranteed to start games then i'm fine with it. I just don't want the price to be silly, his wages to be more than the likes of Cisse and expecting to come back and just walk into the team. If he's coming back as another option, has sensible wages and the fee is good then fine. If not then i'd rather look elsewhere.

It's all very well and good saying that, but who should we be signing? No idea, i'm just saying what i'd like to see. It's easy enough to come up with names but i cant think of many realistic ones who would be cheap. If i knew what the budget was then it would be a little easier, i think the problem is finding a striker who would be willing to join knowing full well he wouldn't start every game but isn't a massive drop off in quality at the same time. It is difficult, i like Guidetti for example but could it happen? i'm not sure.

Tbh id rather us sign a more versatile forward with better movement, i'm just finding the whole scenario f*cking hilarious. I'd take if it meant making Liverpool even more of a laughing stock than they already are.
