If he does, it says all you need to know about him. Not the sort of player I'd want at the club if he goes ahead with that
-
No it doesn't, but 4-3-3 allows you to keep the ball better and have a better balance between attack and defense. Not to mention it suits Cisse, Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Jonas etc etc a lot more. As England showed at the Euros showed 4-4-2 is fine without the ball, but in possession you lack options to go forward properly which is where 4-3-3 excels.

Pardew has said he expects to bring in 3 players ( 1 of them being a striker) do we think he considers Hoilett a striker? If we bought Hoilett, Debuchy and a striker. I think we would missing out one of the most important area's of the squad, that needs strengthening and that is a CB.
-
Cabaye should be further forward and linking play rather than sitting deep in a Pirlo role for. It works at Juve because Marchisio and Vidal both have the dynamism and goal scoring threat that Anita and Tiote wouldn't be able to offer, the gap between midfield and attack would become too big. Yeah, the role of Cabaye in that reality would be more Xavi for Spain..... 2 holding players with Cabaye as sort of a CM/AM hybrid.

from the little i've seen, woodgate-esque but not as good. is mobile without looking it, not a blood and thunder tackler (can but doesn't need to that much) but more the type to ease the opposition off the ball, tidy on the ball but in the games i saw didn't seem to take many of thr opportunities to stride out when he could with the ball. That and he's probably stronger, quicker and better in the air than any of our CB's.

I wouldn't worry about width if we signed Debuchy and with Santon, they would provide the width. My concern would be when we lose the ball is the likely hood of team's 2 v 1 us in fullback areas. We would definitely have to keep possession a lot better this season, to even ponder such a system. Cisse can definitely work in 2 striker system, i just think having a partner restricts his movement and much better as a lone CF. Anyway i agree, we should be flexible as far as system's go although i'd like to see 4-3-3 being the main system. Depending on the opposition it would nice to see our tactic's altered.

Give me Hoilett, Debuchy and Douglas and i'm happy..... would like a midfielder too but beggars cant be choosers.
-
It would be sexy as f*ck to watch but would it work? i have various doubts on why it would'nt. Wait and see i suppose.
-
Also i don't think Cisse and Ba as a front 2 works, Cisse is someone who likes the whole front line to himself. Having someone alongside him restricts his movement IMO. It's best for the team if we play 4-3-3 with Ba on the left, we just play so much better. Hopefully a solution can be found.
-
I'm absolutely certain 4-3-1-2 cant work in England due to how dominate wing play is, and it's too easy to lock down Ben Arfa in a central position IMO he's much better off outwide with freedom to roam. The only system using 2 striker's i can see working in England is a 4-2-2-2 and i cant see us using that. What Pardew means, i think by promising Ba a more central role is rotating him with Cisse IMO.
-
You say it's a free so it inflates the wages, but correct me if i'm wrong but Ba and Marveaux don't get that either. Also it isn't a free anyway so the point is moot.
-
50k? not even Cabaye, Cisse, Ben Arfa etc etc get that if reports are to be believed.
-
Don't care what people say, I'd not be playing him ahead of Ba. Neither would i, also it's blatently obvious now a thread has been made that he's going to QPR.

Yohan Cabaye (now sporting coordinator at Paris Saint-Germain)

To make it clear they are both important as each other for us( for different reasons), and as far as actual signings they were both as important as each other again. ( again for different reasons) But if one of them were to leave tomorrow for 20m i think we would be able to replace Tiote easier than we would Cabaye. I just think there's more players of Tiote's type around, than there is Cabaye. -

Disagree, there's more Tiote's about than there are Cabaye's. Disagree. Tiote's signing revolutionised us. Agreed, but that doesn't mean there's no Tiote's around to replace him with.... that's more to do with how crap our transfer policy was and poor the signings were. I stand by what i said, if you look around europe there's more player's of Tiote's ilk than Cabaye's. Finding a creative midfielder that can play DM, deep CM or AM. Can tackle, intercept, press well, sit when needed, create and score goals is very rare. Getting Cabaye for 4m was just ridiculous. -
Yeah, that's what i heard too.

I have the utmost belief and confidence in the kids in midfield, my concerns come from how little options we have upfront behind the front 3 and in defense we seriously need a CB and a RB. Probably jumping to conclusions a bit quickly, and probably usual Pardew and most likely will sign the players we need but still.
-
Agreed, but i'm more concerned by the level in defense and upfront atm if i'm honest.
-
I'd be content with a CB, RB and a forward and think it's enough to be competitive in all 4 competitions we are involved in.
-
Clearly BS, but i hope it happens.

It really does amaze me how people, always ignore that Sunderland were closer to us in terms of points. When O'Neill took the job then when the season ended, and how they completely ignore the fact that O'Neill doesn't believe in rotation forcing Sunderland to literally craw across the finish line. Awful article IMO.
