  1. Jacob Murphy has 16 appearances for us this season. Pulisic clearly has a higher ceiling than Almiron too.

    The Round of 16

Rice is pretty terrible is a possession-orientated side, especially as single pivot. Not his skillset.
  3. Exactly this. Dude has 10 goals in top-flight football. Seems like not a green flag for his character and decision making.
  4. wait till this fucking beta understands how many things in that room need petrochemicals.
  5. Journalists disliking your managerial appointment is the only true sign that you've got it right. At times like this I am always reminded of the greatest such example from https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2013/jan/18/nigel-adkins-southampton:
  6. Watford fans seem upset and think the bid is nowhere near fair value: https://wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/joao-pedro.59473/page-3
  7. The west is currently begging SA for more oil, so I'd say the chances for any form of sanctions are zero.
  8. What the absolute fuck are they doing.
  9. Man City and Chelsea were pre-FFP. If that was our operating environment we probably aren't looking at Jack Harrison and I also wouldn't care. Valuation doesn't have to be about making a profit. Liverpool do not buy players with a view to selling them, but they have been very good at increasing the value of their investments. If you're not elite and want to become elite, you need to be good at spotting pricing inefficiencies with asymmetric risk/return. My argument is Jack Harrison is not that.
  10. Improvement or not (in that position our bar is low), the probable outcome of investing in a 25 y/o being a 30% loss of value is a bet I do not take.
  11. The risk/return seems pretty bad on this one. Probability of his value ever exceeding the quoted fees feels like <1%.
  12. I'm indifferent to Paqueta but the quoted fees were obviously insane. He has a non-trivial risk premium, and is less useful to less sides than Bruno.
  13. JWP predictably popular with fans but his game is 90% set-pieces and there'd be no value in his likely transfer fee. Sort of thing Everton would have done when they had money IMO.
  14. I disagree. I think he's dislikable, but nonetheless connected in north east. Got Benitez too IIRC.
  15. He claimed Henderson was a "priority". Something weird went on with that one.
  16. Romano is trash. Di Marzio (Tier 1) works for Sky Italia.

    Isaac Hayden

Unconditional on Norwich's ability as a team, <50% get promoted in their first year. I think we're looking at a non-trivial possibility of him returning next season at a reduced value with the limited champ exposure. Given he seemed one of the most saleable assets that we wanted to bin, feels slightly disappointing (without knowing full details).
  18. DCL and Ake - especially at their PL price-point - do not form part of an elite recruitment strategy. Hopefully not true.
  19. This is almost certainly propaganda. The vast majority of the revenue comes from the initial deal, with clubs taking a very small commission therafter (see e.g. https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/how-much-money-do-football-clubs-make-from-shirt-sales/gv14e9wc0vny1vtyr0rxqqan5. Even if it was true, the damage we're doing to our suffering brand greatly outweighs it. We're in danger of becoming too toxic for any legit commercial deal. Think Nike are interested in the 24/25 version?
  20. Hope should be deeply embarrassed by this de facto Saudi propaganda. I bet there is near-zero financial justification for this.
  21. Toney is better than Nunez I reckon
  22. Bad touch and poor decision maker. Elite goal-scoring output in the Portuguese league has not historically been an especially high watermark (Jonas, Jackson Martinez, Bas Dost).
