http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/449162/SWOOP-Newcastle-ace-Liverpool-transfer-gossip Here we go
-
I'm wondering how much of the delay is going to be caused by us trying to offload some of our shite - although low on quality the squad is actually pretty heavy on numbers, we could field 2 full elevens and still have a few players left over: Krul Janmaat – Taylor – Colo – Dummett Cabella – Sissoko – Tiote – Aarons Cisse – De Jong Darlow Anita - Williamson – Lascelles – Haidara Marveaux – Abeid - Colback – Ameobi Riviere – Perez Elliot, Gouffran, Obertan, Armstrong Then there's all the younger lads and the bunch who've been on loan at Rangers - needs a pretty hefty clearout I reckon.

The one slight positive spin we could put on it is the old "we don't want other clubs to know how much we've got to spend" ploy, try keep the asking prices down. Probably not though.

Jonas proper hates these cunts: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3123495/Jonas-Gutierrez-claims-Newcastle-don-t-care-told-released-phone-conversation.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490

The Express article on this suggests the "pay as you play" aspect refers to the transfer fee: http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/584258/Steve-McClaren-eyes-Andy-Carroll-for-Newcastle-return

Aye - the other journos have been ripping him on Twitter about it
-
From .com: Manager managed Steve McClaren was at SJP on Wednesday afternoon to complete the formalities of his appointment as the new head coach of Newcastle United. Interviewed by the club's own communications staff and representatives of Sky TV and Trinity Mirror, McClaren then departed without speaking to anyone else. No press conference was staged - hardly an encouraging start to a new era of communication and openness....
-
You would have to think one of his priorities would be re-engaging properly with the media, they're handicapping him from the start otherwise.
-
That English premium innit. Think it's just the going rate for proven Premier League goalscorers these days - Lukaku went for 28 million and he hadn't scored the amount of goals in a season Austin has. The only foreigners to score more than him this season were Aguero and Costa - 38 and 32 million.
-
That's so weird, just watched that film last night.

Turns out the 2010 World Cup should've been in Morocco: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/fifa-corruption-scandal-live-sepp-blatter-jack-warner-10302881.html
-
Would you say he can only get better?
-
I feel your pain. Will they or won't they win that 16th European trophy?? Surely not going to have to just settle for that league and cup double again?
-
Dummett's better The 2 of them together would probably be our best pairing from the current selection.
-
Any last minute hitch will only see Carver getting the gig, it's the classic nufc lose-lose scenario.
-
He's singing like a canary http://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2015/jun/04/jack-warner-fifa-corruption-i-have-kept-quiet-i-will-do-so-no-more-live
-
Explains the sudden burst of arse-kissing.
-
Not sure we even have a recruitment policy. That was obviously one of the differences.
-
Don't get me wrong, he would be nowhere near my first choice either, but when you look at him in the context of the likes of Pardew, Carver and Kinnear that this regime have previously presented us with then he's a definite step up.
-
Where has this good football myth come from? From watching them. They have played some decent football tbf. My next door neighbour is a Derby fan so I've watched them a fair bit. They were top scorers in the league last season for example.
-
If we do get McClaren there's one piece of continuity we can look forward to at least:

-
One has just been sacked by a Derby team whose fans are glad to see the back of him after he fucked up getting them out of the division below us. tbf my next door neighbour is a Derby fan and he has nothing but good things to say about McClaren, reckons he completely turned them around and had them playing decent football. He claims the drop in performances this season was mainly down to their top scorer Chris Martin getting injured in Feb and Jordan Ibe being recalled by Liverpool in January. Still don't want him mind, but I do think he's step up from Pardew and on a different planet to Carver.

Vieira is only the backup option in case McClaren says no according to Oliver: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-offer-steve-mcclaren-managers-5793836?
-
Yeah i think this is where I'm at - Vieira might be brilliant, McClaren most definitely won't be and anyone of proven quality isn't coming anywhere hear this NUFC - given the choices I would rather roll the dice on the unproven option.
