We're a striker short at the moment as well, bring him in as player manager, kill 2 birds and all that....

Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi admits he already harbours dreams of managing his home town club. The popular Geordie has been a Magpie all of his career so far and, entering the prime years of his playing days, is beginning to make plans for the future. Ameobi has already secured his Uefa B licence and is currently in the process of gaining his A licence by working with Newcastle's youth teams, alongside Alan Shearer. http://www.thefootballforum.net/index.php?/topic/73623-ameobi-craves-toon-top-job/
  4. tbf he's not going to have been able to have made sweeping changes in 2 days no matter how much he might want to. I think it's the attitude and application of the players that will be the most interesting thing today - if they're clearly firing and up for it then we can assume Pardew wasn't as popular as he might have liked to think.
  5. Good to see someone standing up to him: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rangers-boardroom-battle-laxey-boss-4901543? Will be interesting to see if he has the stomach for a prolonged fight now he's not getting things all his own way.
  6. My neighbour is a Derby fan, he's been raving for ages about what a great job McClaren is doing there, says they've been playing really nice football as well. Was winding him up this morning that we were going to nick their manager, didn't actually think it would be a real possibility though!
  7. Hmm, not exactly saying he's not interested there is he....
  8. Reckon Carr is a De facto DOF now. Certainly looking that way, can only be a good thing for us you would think.
  9. I voted for Ketsbaia again, he's available now and I would love to see the baldy loon in charge.
  10. That's a fantastic, if ultimately depressing, article.
  11. Attention starting to turn to Ashley already: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united/11317458/Mike-Ashley-has-left-Newcastle-stagnant-and-stained-with-his-greedy-ownership-who-would-want-the-job-now.html
  12. Really good article about why we're so happy to see the back of Pardew: http://www.football365.com/f365-says/9625392/F365-Says
  13. Aye. Full article here: http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/alan-pardew-man-who-always-8361027?
  14. He's the only person in a senior role with any proper football knowledge - if Ashley has any sense he'll leave the whole shortlisting process to him. Then watch Charnley fuck it up by offering them all shitty, low-paid contracts.
  15. Hopefully Sherwood gets the gig, as that would effectively rule both out from coming here (as Pulis wouldn't work with MA). Yeah good point, the only real concern is Bruce for me. pretty sure his compo would be low as he is on a 12 month rolling contract. Looking at Hull's current position I'm sure they'll let him go for free if he asks nicely.
  16. Why would they even say that, unless they're trying to tempt us in...
  17. I'm suddenly less optimistic about a decent succession plan if it's true that Colo has turned it down....
  18. Hardy now saying Colo didn't want it: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/fabricio-coloccini-tells-newcastle-united-he-does-not-want-to-take-over-as-boss-if-alan-pardew-leaves-9949689.html
  19. Maybe, just maybe we're going to take the time to make a sensible, forward-thinking appointment.... Hate myself for hoping but we're now living in a world where someone paid us for Pardew and HBA is on his way back to the club.
  20. Aye. I'm really pretty annoyed about him laughing at Colo - who the fuck does the scouse prick think he is??
  21. Well I think we can all agree on that! Chances of it happening under Ashley though....
  22. Aye, there's really no point getting excited about anything because we're all going to die one day.
  23. Would be a crazy appointment which under this regime actually makes it quite likely. Would be a complete blank slate, but like others have said think i would actually prefer that to proven mediocrity like Pulis or Bruce (both of who have worse Premier league win percentages than Pardew...) Can't imagine the coaching badges would be an issue, Carver has them all so would just need some creative job titles.
  24. Beardsley temporary charge according to the Guardian: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/dec/29/alan-pardew-newcastle-leave-crystal-palace Also reckons Woodman will go to Palace but Carver and Stone are staying.
