Could be pissed off because something's been leaked from the Palace end. We like to keep our transfers secret and stuff.
Maybe we've already agreed to let him go but wanted a replacement in before going public?
Can't see Pardew trying to back Ashley into a corner ending well, but then again he's basically saying let him go or he'll hang on until sacked in which case we end up paying out his contact anyway.
Formal approach imminent according to the Mail:

In among the gems from the supposed ITK on the Palace forum is the revelation that HBA attacked Tim Krul with a knife:

I reckon HBA may have burned his bridges, but if the stories about him being one of Ashley's favourite players are true then there may still be some slight hope.
It's all like such a surreal dream - just a month or so on from one of our worst runs of form ever with massive fan protests trying to force him out and another club could be about to pay millions of pounds to actually take him away.
It's almost too good to be true...
Happening as in he wants the job and they want him. Only Ashley can stop it happening.
Phew, thank goodness he's not a completely unpredictable megalomaniac then.
Injuries to defenders Phil Jagielka and John Stones, goalkeeper Tim Howard and winger Kevin Mirallas added to a suspension for Steven Naismith ahead of Sunday's trip to Newcastle.

Still expect them to dispatch us with ease.
