13 games left? another 3 more till we go on some sort of run according to that drivel.

Suarez went and he was replaced by a disinterested Balotelli, who had just had an appalling season for Milan. Lambert was also brought in effectively as back-up for Sturridge. One truly world class front two to that in the space of a summer. Suarez's influence on that team can't be underestimated. He lifted the entire first eleven, made average players like Henderson & Allen look brilliant, and also eeked one last decent season out of Gerrard. And of course, he made Rodgers look like some tactical genius, nearly winning the league. Of course Rodgers must have been doing something right that season, but really, picking Suarez was all he had to do, the third best player in the world during that season imo.

I'm not digging at you personally like, but it's really beginning to irritate me now reading and hearing this stupid phrase over and over again. Ambition with regards to what exactly? 'Showing ambition' is appointing and listening to a knowledgeable, clued up director / board of directors and going after a good / successful manager that could potentially win you something. Showing ambition is not appointing the reserve team secretary, Alan Carr's f***ing dad and an old, useless puppet of an ex-player and vehemently going after Steve f***ing McClaren. Not once, not twice but three times? Don't get me started on the likes of John Carver being given the reigns. 'Showing ambition' is going after players and building a solid team that can win you games. Showing ambition is not getting mostly medicore, half arsed players that don't fit or belong in your team and putting them on 5 and 6 year contracts, in the blind hope that they do well so you can make more money. On a similar note, forcing out and giving away arguably one of your best players and then spending circa £40m trying to replace said player by signing a Ligue 1 flop of the season (who knocked the club back previously), another who was either not interested, not tried or frankly not good enough and then a Spurs cast off who's barely done anything of note nor turned out this season? That's not ambition, it's f***ing stupidity. What's worse, they're only a handful of examples over his 8 year tenure. 8 years. You think Ashley has somehow just now decided he wants to be ambitious with the club? You don't think being on the verge of falling off the gravy train in 18th place is reason enough they are pissing all the club generated revenue up the wall? The whole thing is a massive gamble. Kinnear was a gamble. Carver was a gamble. McClaren and this transfer window will be this years gamble. There's no ambition or plan here aside from propping up the league for the benefit of Sports Direct. Boom. Thoughts into words there. Great post, well said.

He gives them additional options after Mahrez & Vardy at the end of the day. After them two and Okazaki they need goals from other players. He kept us up virtually on his own a few seasons ago, if they revert back to struggling he'll probs help them survive in future seasons.
-
I think he's ok but his positional play was pretty poor imo when he was here. Not sure if its improved since he went back to Inter.
-
say that did actually happen you'd have to think that would be Moussa off.
-
We all do but that's wishful thinking. Until someone signs press links and rumours are all we can feed on? This is Newcastle after all
-
But there's clearly been talk of a striker, that was the original argument. Not the likelihood of each rumour.
-
well, since the window opened the press have continually linked us to Lacazette, Remy, Dost, Grey, Carroll, Berahino and a few others.
-
there's been mention of a striker practically every day of this window.

That Jan window we signed Sissoko, Debuchy etc effectively kept us in the league that season.
-
A stupid idea which has not only created more negativity but highlighted something we all already knew anyway - which is that our fringe players are probably the poorest in the league. If the idea was to get these players fit, then get the fuck in, Riviere & Gouffran can be considered for action.
-
Leeds were totally skint when they went down, they HAD to sell. We're the 17th richest club in the world at present. Big players like Wijnaldum, Sissoko, Perez will go, but imo the majority will stick around for a season to see if we can get straight back up (unless there's clauses in there)
-
Alternatively its squad depth with decent players?
-
Just flicked through episode 1. Its on that blokes youtube history. Its fucking cringeworthy, with Pardew topping it off. I wonder if production will suddenly cease if this shocking run gets worse.
-
I never got the impression he disliked the club, quite the opposite, despite being a mercenary. He seemed to enjoy it here, knew the fans loved him. However we were a mess, then Liverpool were linked and that was that. Cant blame him for talking to them and then signing for Chelsea. If he wants to stay in London then Palace are his best bet, but they're still strongly linked with Adebayor. I don't think he'd be as unwilling as some think to come back here.
-
If he's in goal when they play us he will be a nervous wreck. Doubt we'd take advantage of it though.
-
I hope we get him tbh, he's not a world beater but as mentioned can pass a ball in the general right direction and is a decent player imo. Not a leader though, and we're devoid of them, and the problems upfront remain even if he does come to Newcastle. Desperate for that striker.
-
Like I say, he picked the wrong game to flounce around in then pretending to be hurt, and certainly the wrong area of the pitch. It's not like the team came over at the end and clapped yet he was the only one who got booed. It is harsh, and you don't want to see players and fans in spats, but this is now the situation we are in. If Thauvin is upset, he could maybe read a bit about whats gone on at this club the last few years. None of it to do with him, but absolutely the reason supporters are utterly fed up with everything regarding this football club... reactions like this will happen. If the season continues like this it won't only be Thauvin subjected to it either.
-
Out of interest, who is? None of them, and I wudnt have been arsed if these chants had gone to any of our players
-
He probably isn't but I wouldn't write someone off after barely seeing five minutes of him. How many foreign players of his type have looked hopeless in their first season in England only to become stars later on? It's just plain ignorant. Difference is of course that most others clubs are in a position where a little patience can be afforded. This club is fresh out of that. Honestly, if he's completely useless and rolls around in front of the supporters, it's not a surprise he gets some stick. Like I said before, it isn't singling him out for the teams problems, it's an exponential frustration among supporters that he extracted out with stupid antics, at a time when we need the polar opposite of what he currently provides.
