Personally I'd be gutted if we spunk any money on Carroll if I'm honest. Just can't see how/where he's going to fit in and it would fly in the face of our recent transfer dealings (looking for added value) Not to mention the fact I think he's shit. Just me then, oh well . . . .

It's got the collars and white v neck from the 75/76 kit and the stripes from the 83/85 kit so it's a bit of a retro hybrid. Looks to be a darker green from previous years but I can live with that. Personally prefer Emerald Green myself but we have played in a much darker green before so it's OK. Big Gerry

I agree it is the next position to fill, but I think the two defensive positions in particular are more important. Would have thought a CB is the next most important slot to fill (if MD signs). Still, wouldn't say no to a DM at the right money.

Really can't understand all the "can't believe it's a template" comments on kits. They're all templates in one way or another, I mean do you really think a sportswear brand is going to design a "unique" kit just for one club/nation? It just wouldn't be economically viable. Germany and Spain had the same kit in the Euros, big deal, didn't look the same on first viewing, but they were the same kit (with perhaps the slightest trim difference) All brands will bring out (at a guess) 4 or 5 different templates each season and you get to choose which one you like. It's really that simple.

Weirdly, it's not actually as bad as I had imagined. Yes the spikes are dreadful, but I can sort of overlook them in a strange Jedi mind trick-type way. Think it does have an Italian/Juve look about it, which is making me like it more and more. Once we've smashed the Mackems in it, it'll be a winner
