What a waste off everybody's time this whole farce has been. Staveley's "unfair" claim looks ridiculous in context. She's not trustworthy. Some need that spelling out in simple terms for them. There fact they didn't even try to go through the owners and directors test fully is a red flag (as Caulkin would say).

this is a good summary, in fact i'd have some sympathy with the PL if there was any track record of MBS interfering in PIF and what it gets up to but as far as i understand it he's handed it over to the lad al rumayyan (sp) and he is in complete control, have never heard anyone suggesting MBS has any practical involvement with PIF, has anyone else? He's the fucking Chairman. It's about as cut and dried as it gets that he has the power to make decisions.

You're saying this as fact, rather than opinion. Depends who you believe of course. Which deleted account were you btw? Godzilla? Both the PL and buyer have said this - it’s about the only thing they both agree on. Staveley through her various interviews and the PL through their propaganda session just before PIF ‘withdrew’ claiming there was an impasse due to the make up of the organisations. Plus it’s also what I’ve heard, unofficially, and makes the most sense as legally the PL couldn’t reject the takeover based on the piracy. Can you put a link to where the premier league said this please? I’ve literally told you what happened in my post, the articles were all posted in this thread - go and read it yourself and join the dots up. Why whenever I ask posters like you (you know, the ones who "KNOW THIS IS ON") you always refuse to post the links to your facts? Because I work a full time job and don’t have the time/can’t be arsed to pull up the 5 or 6 articles which were posted at the time. Here’s one, by example: www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/07/27/newcastle-united-takeover-gridlocked-saudi-led-consortium-struggles/amp/ Fwiw, I’ve never said ‘I know it’s on’ - I’ve just posted the information I have which may or may not be relevant or true. I’m confident it is on, but the only people who ‘know’ are sat in PL headquarters. Ahh, I misunderstood. I read your post as it being the PL who had said it, which is why you were so certain. But actually it's Luke Edwards. That makes things much clearer. So you're basing your facts (opinions) on a story from Luke Edwards and some information put out by Staveley. Cool. And the 5 other articles all written at exactly the same time? Did Luke Edwards tell them? Or was the information from a source distributed to multiple journalists at the same time? Not sure why Staveley would be the source - she was furious by it. Not sure why Ashley would be the source - he nearly lost much needed investment. Who else is left?... Then ask yourself - why is it important for the PL to have MBS added as a director if it's nothing relating to piracy? Already been answered countless times - because the PL have concerns he will have control of (or major influence in) the club, which is against their rules as a state cannot own a club. Right, so they want it so they can reject it? So basically they have every right to be asking for this if it's going to be the case (you say it's easily solved) It is easily solved - assurances have been given that MBS will have no control. PL weren’t willing to accept that, but with the pressure now being applied, it is hoped that the PL will reconsider this stance and accept the assurances they have been given. He's the chairman of the public investment fund for fuck sake, stop deluding yourself.

Seems a little cruel. Cruel? It was more cruel on anyone having to watch this guy try to play football. Aye, cruel. Poor bugger turns up for his first day back at training 'Who are you then?' 'Er, it's me, Ayoze, remember?' 'Never heard of you mate' I think he meant ignore Joelinton ever existed.

Didn't even really register in my head that the transfer window is open. Same old story at NUFC, no business as a 'takeover' attempt rumbles on. It's remarkable really.

I still struggle to believe Coca-Cola and the like are even noticing what's going on. The waves we're making aren't exactly gonna shake their boat. They'll be noticing. They'll take even more notice if we include links to their competitors products along with the corruption stuff. They're going to be terrified, and ask the PL to cave in to any demands because of it clearly. Or not. Tons more evidence of that than there is of PIF still being involved in a bid to buy the club.

Well I was curious about this line. "The Premier League has already offered independent arbitration, rejected by the bidders, who say their ownership structure - with the PIF an independent investment vehicle as set out in its charter - and business plan were clear. " Have not seen any mention of that before, and why reject a potential arbitration that might actually agree with them? As far as I can tell the Crown Prince WhateverHisNameIs appointed the director of PIF to run the investment vehicle and doesn't interfere with it. By what right does the PL have to say "We don't believe you". If you go back to that interview with the PIF director, it was posted, he describes how he was appointed and what his remit was for the PIF. He seems to be doing a brilliant job. NUFC would be a tiny slice of PIF's investment portfolio, why the fuck would the Crown Prince be interfering at all. The arbitration quote also caught my eye. We have them ( The EPL) bang to rights! "Have them bang to rights" based on what exactly? Staveley saying it isn't fair is not any legal basis. Unless I've missed something?

And just rely on Gayle and Carroll? Ok then No takeover and surely we would all want Ashleys club to be relying on absolutely nobody?

Closer to what? I’m not going to be tedious and claim to be ‘in the know’, but I’m relatively confident this takeover will happen. Maybe not this week as others have suggested, but certainly within the next two. So where's the confidence coming from then? Positive noise, really. I may be proven completely wrong, but I’m more confident now then I have been through the whole takeover period. Happy to hold my hands up and say my ‘confidence’ is shit in a couple of weeks if it’s proven to be, but hopefully I’ll be right. Ask manorpark[/member] where the positive thoughts get you. Positive thinking (reality, as I always felt it was) will prove to be correct in the end. My goodness though . . it is taking its time happening!! Even a broken clock is right once a day.

Should just close this thread. Seeing people talk about who "we" should be signing just seems fucking ridiculous.

I'm really not convinced that it hasn't already finished as soon as the announcement was made that PIF were withdrawing. I know people have claimed that they didn't submit a special form to the PL to tell them, so it's still ongoing, but I don't believe that for one minute. The only thing I'm clutching to is the fact that the PL haven't put any form of statement out yet, but I reckon that's coming. This, I feel it's over too. People are assuming/guessing/twisting anything to keep that slight bit of hope alive, but it hasn't looked likely since the beginning of June (unless you took what Caulkin said as gospel). I also feel the fact Staveley hasn't presented any legal basis as to why the PL decision (of lack thereof) is unfair is telling.
