I thought he was slow to react to the shot and was too far over to the right side of his goal. EDIT Look at how their keeper reacted to Ritches shot. Tim Krul is still far and away the best keeper at the club and I am staggered that he isn't even training with the first team. Yeah, in some ways the difference yesterday was the goalkeepers. They actually bought a new keeper and who saved Ritchie's effort. Meanwhile Elliot is nowhere near Mooy's goal. Add to that his atrocious kicking of the ball constantly putting us under pressure and we are always going to struggle. Not sure Krul would be any better mind, put simply we need a new goalkeeper urgently.

Yeah, we should probably write all our players off already. Seriously it's his first starts in the PL, give the lad a bit of time to adjust to the quality. Hayden has got the potential to get much better, that is likely to only come through more playing time though. He looked nervous/short of confidence to me yesterday.

That PR bloke would have set that up and then convinced Mike it was the way to go. Pressure was building due to Rafa's excellent relationship with fans and press. Yep. Sad part is a fairly sizeable proportion of our fan base has fell for it hook, line and sinker. That's a large part of the reason that I can't see him ever being serious about selling us. He's got it far too easy.

Probably to undermine Rafa's work, to piss the fans off and to stop ANY positive momentum we had going. Why? Because the cunt can.
-
Yep, but it seems like he's going to stay and try and fight for the good of the fans/players/club. Kinda like having a fan in the dugout taking on the owner. Main worry is Ashley cranks up the cuntishness in an attempt to force Rafa's hand. I'm thinking lining up a few deals for the last days of the window and then making sure they fall through. Hope not but can see it happening.

Obviously "unwanted", but a better option at centre midfield when chasing the game at promoted Huddersfield? Less obvious... He's probably not a better option then anyone. He was useless in France last season, no-one else seems to want him, Rafa doesn't seem to think he's a viable option. I can understand people wondering because we have hardly seen him play but theres no evidence to back it up. Rafa sees him daily so has a much better idea of his ability and attitude. People need to forget about him really.

As Mike Ashley you mean. At the end of the day Ashley controls the money and always has. We had no problem spending money, bringing around 12 players in and shipping nearly 20 out last summer, now however things seem to have changed as Rafa has said. It's Ashley responsible for this.

Poor defensively, gifted a goal away, poor passing, lost possession too many times, slow at times to get the pass away resulting in him being tackled and created absolutely nothing. There is definitely an argument for him being poor today. It was his debut, he's still young and got plenty of time to develop but I agree with this I will back him no doubt and hopefully he does really well. But he was shocking today, god knows how people thought he was our best player. He looked lost Are you the type of fan who cheers shoulder barges and long clearances out the box? I.e. You like the tryers? Just so I know what type of idiot I'm talking to... thanks.

I agree with this except I don't think I would expect more from Colback or Anita. Think Merino will learn pretty fast tbh, he seems to have the talent and intelligence to along with the right attitude.
-
You can't be a PL CM and get done like that. Compare that to the Chelsea CM's today. So much faster, braver and alert in similar situations. It were pathetic. Comparing our new signing to the best midfielder in the league. Brilliant. In his first start in a new country, having joined well after preseason started. Plenty of Premier League midfielders will get done like that this season also.

learning process? f***ing bullshit. Anyone in the first team squad who needs to learn shouldn't be there. Ridiculous comment as per. Surely we should have learned last season how to beat championship teams away from home. We haven't improved, they have. They're much less of a championship team than we are at the moment. The Aldi Klopp must know what he's doing then. They've improved by spending money on new players, if it wasn't already obvious from what I said. Weve only spent £10m less and they had more work to do. Only £10m Disagree about them needing to buy more as well. I'd have replaced everyone bar Ritchie, Shelvey, and Gayle and even then they wouldn't have been guaranteed starts. If you were a Huddersfield town fan you'd be asking for the whole team to be replaced, or did they have a better squad than ours last year? I'm not a Huddersfield Town fan so I can't answer that, but again, they've spent £10m more than us and are a much smaller club who are here for the first time. Is that the measure of us as a club and our spending?? Exactlyoint are you making here? The point is the much smaller club with shitter players and the Aldi Klopp have 6pts on the board and we've got sweet fa. Rafa needs to do more with what he's got. Mike Ashley like this.

To be fair he's based every decision on the crowds reaction.
-
Joselu's done more than Gayle already tbf. Clearly not fit.
-
What? He's been poor! Imagine Colback put in an overall display like that... His first game though. Him and Hayden have been terrible, lost the midfield battle so far. I think Hayden has been alright like considering he's playing by himself in there. Hayden looks short of confidence more than anything to me. He's taking too long with his first touch and getting closed down, and once that happens it can play on your mind. Needs to get it back soon.
-
What? He's been poor! Imagine Colback put in an overall display like that... His first game though. Not sure if serious. He slipped, it happens. Otherwise he's been better than Colback could possibly be ffs.
-
Its getting fucking ridiculous now isn't it.
-
No booking for clearly booting the ball away, the fuck is this ref on?
-
That was a great challenge from Hayden, strong but fair.
-
Thats fucking pathetic
-
Fuck off is that a free kick man.
-
The one part of Lascelles' game I worry about is backing off when people run at him.
-
Perfect example of why we need a new keeper there.

Reina mentioned again in the sun: https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/4280193/newcastle-pepe-reina-rafa-benitez-napoli-transfer/

Condescending statement drenched in irony, coming from a guy who has deprived the club of the extra finances (because ShitDirect pays bugger all for what amounts to exclusive stadium advertising rights) needed to give it some extra clout in the transfer market, potentially catapaulting it's finishing place one or two slots higher at the very least. It's such a veiled dig I'm pretty convinced he enjoys trolling us fans Absolutely. There's no other conclusion any sane person can come to after the last 10 years and especially after that interview. Also when he spoke about/to Keegan and Shearer through it, the fucking nerve. Also, not many positive things said about Rafa in there if at all. Cunt.
