Haven't looked through the thread yet, just wanted to say how happy I am that we've got that much needed win! Some random points: Thought Marveaux had a really good game, especially second half, started to look like a real creative force. Would like to see him AND Ben Arfa in the same team when possible. Santon made things happen, solid game as usual (really hope he's not out for any period?). Simpson was for me the only weak link tonight (me and a mate counted 7 touches from him 1st half - 6 went backwards and the 7th was a hopeful hoof upfield). Contrast with Santon constantly carrying the ball forward and probing. Pass and move!! OK they were down to 10 men, but for possibly the 1st time this season we actually looked capable of stringing some decent moves together. Wigan were pretty awful tbf. Cisse worked hard but looks a bit short of confidence. Bigi, take a bow son, great goal. I really didn't care how we played, we NEEDED to win, and we did, playing some good stuff at times. Have to give Pardew credit for starting Marveaux and setting the team up to go at them. Overall really happy (for a change).

Just thinking about what Pardew's gonna say in his pre-match comments on sky makes me want to cry. He needs to be positive for once (and then follow that through in his game plan). Can't see it happening though, surely all his negativity rubs off on the players.

Haven't been this nervous before a game since the relegation season...please win, I really don't care how we play, just win.

The more he talks the more I want to punch him. Also note how he praises Ashley and Llambias, then says that we can't target any players for January because he doesn't know what positions we need to strengthen. I'm fully prepared for us to waste the transfer window 'deciding', and 'looking', and 'trying', ultimately bringing no-one of quality in.

Kilgallon

I'm getting sick of the speculation surrounding him every transfer window tbh.

Well this is going to be embarrassing when we get dumped out by Brighton. -

Because it's virtually impossible to call when you're on the move with the ball coming into the box, bouncing out then being fired back in again. It's stupid that it's taken so long to get the technology in when it's impossible for a linesman to be both in line with the play and the goal line at the same time. To be fair that was such an easy decision that you could have seen it was in from anywhere in the ground. It wasn't even close.
-
That was about 2 yards in. Linesmen have been getting progressively worse as the season goes on.
-
I honestly think he's fucking clueless, the only reason I'm not calling for his head is the fear of who we (read:Ashley) would replace him with.
-
If they come to defend we stand a far better chance than we do if they come here and have a go. --- We improved tonight and while it wasn't great there are positives to be taken in to the Wigan game, just need to have a go. I agree and we could turn our season around against Wigan. We won´t turn around any season regardless of results. Maybe we can scrap some results and leave the worst danger, but turning around the season... nah. This, 100%, we should beat Wigan, but that doesn't mean we're gonna have a great season, it will give us 3 points out of 5 of the easiest games anyone could have hand picked.

Haven't read any of the thread, was watching with a Liverpool supporting mate, who surprise surprise could see everything that we have all been seeing for a long time now. Four defeats in a row, against poor opposition, fuck me we are awful at the minute. I'm guessing Pardew has come out and explained the defeat as being the result of a mixture of bad luck / missing key players / confidence / Stoke being in form / everything except for himself. I said before the game that losing these 4 games was unthinkable, 14 points from 14 games, more than 1/3 of the season gone, key players out, no-one to replace them, jesus, we're in the shit whatever way you look at it. Oh and by the way, see how Stoke, yes Stoke, came from behind to win...why the fuck are we completely incapable of doing that ourselves?
-
Fuck it, I'm considering putting some cash on us to win, odds look good and I'm gonna be depressed if we lose anyway.

Same. Their very good home record, our poor form, their fans (over) confident, our fans expecting a beating... it's all set up for us to win tonight. Lets get at them, wind the fans up like last time and put an end to this shit form and negativity that's descending on us. 2-0 win! -

I honestly couldn't care less how we play tonight, we must get a result. Four defeats in a row against Swansea, West Ham, Southampton and Stoke would have been unthinkable at the start of the season, and 14 points from 14 games puts us on course for 38 points. Whatever way you look at it, lose tonight and relegation has to be looked at as a possibility. -
God he doesn't half talk some shit, couldn't even bring myself to watch the whole thing. Take some fucking responsibility for the mess he's got us in. One win in 8 games, and that being a lucky last minute shot deflecting in off Cisses back...
-
That was like watching us from the relegation season, no threat going forward, no commitment, no shape, no desire and no light at the end of the tunnel either.
-
I've got a feeling his post match excuses are going to give us even more ammo to shoot the cunt with.
-
Pardew's a fucking coward, milks the applause when we win but skulks off down the tunnel straight away when we get humiliated, which is now becoming a weekly event.
-
Not to worry lads, we're great at coming from behind to win.
