I do agree we definitely lack quality in key areas and that needs addressing over the next 2 windows. But any club would be in trouble with so many injuries, and we also need to find a way of ensuring that is not repeated next season. Whether that's adjusting the intensity we play at, improving the medical department, getting less injury-prone players in the squad, or simply hoping for better luck. I'd hope it's not the last option tbh

I mean, the summers business was exactly about creating a squad able to compete on all fronts. Howe was talking about having 2 pretty equal teams IIRC. The amount of (and severity of) injuries has been the big problem, and the inability to deal with such a crisis. Lewis Hall, signed in the summer, is sat there unused for example. What is to blame for the injuries is up for debate.

He's world class - on his day. He has the potential to be consistently world class - it's on him and the manager to make that happen.

I do think it's fair to question whether there was anything that could have been done, especially earlier in the season, to manage minutes better, rotate the squad etc. Maybe he also needed this year to adjust to preparing his team for so many games, lack of training time between games etc. It's his first experience of a European campaign, after all.

There comes a point (and I think we passed it a while ago) where if the same tired players are incapable of getting a result, game after game, then we should have just played the kids and gave them a rest. That's if the issue is fatigue.

Yeah fuck the fatigue excuse, if the players are fit enough to be picked, we should be winning this on second half evidence so far. Need that belief we had last season back.

The thing is, whatever Almiron did, Trippier in his current form/headspace would still have lost us that game, just in a different situation. He could have been in uncontested possession and he'd still have gifted them an equaliser (see Everton recently). That's the way things are going for him right now. Making this about Almiron is silly. What I mean by that is, yes he probably should have taken it into the corner but we still would have conceded because that's the way we roll at the minute.
