Newcastle United vs. Man City - 15/12/12 @ 12:45pm (Live on Sky Sports 2)

I think his best position is wide right in a front 3 like. Yep. Inside forward with license to attack. -
Our misuse of Cisse is sickening. Genuinely deadly finisher who could easily surpass the 20 goal mark in the Premier League and he's stuck wide right. Without wanting to go into the common cliches, why can we not put the tidier all round performer Ba out wide and put our best striker in his best position? A fully fit and confident Ba (the stark contrast to the Ba of April 2012) would still get goals from the left, while contributing to an improved overall shape.

Needs one of our big 5 year contracts.

haha GET IN

Agree with Ronaldo. Ba is a superb footballer but I'd choose Cisse if I had to build the team around one.

I know it's a bit of a given but Sunderland really are a bit shit.

I'll be in the neutral end too. Still think it's ridiculous for a club to have one. -

Another poor showing from me as well. Came close to two 3 pointers with Stoke and West Ham anarl.

Three tough PL fixtures coming up and I can see us losing all them.

I had a go at the BBC Predictor yesterday. Went up to the end of Jan and we were on 20 points in 17th. We've got quite a few tricky games coming up; Wigan in particular is going to be tough. They're a good attacking side with a good manager, and there's going to be loads of pressure on us to get a result. On TV as well, of course.

Defensively they are ridiculously poor. It might be more beneficial to the result if we tried to exploit their weakness, rather than focusing on covering up our own. -

Ferguson will probably be starting considering he didn't get on the pitch at all last night. (Abeid and Amalfitano both came on over him). -
Such a fraud. Doesn't even seem as though he can identify the problem.

I'm exasperated with him this season and have little faith in him to correct it. No doubt we'll be told the week's training working on defending against the mighty Maritimo is why we got beat by Southampton. Every action he takes seems to be fuelled by the desire to keep the opposition out and it's a philosophy I hope isn't being instilled at youth level. From what I've observed, most good footballing sides try and work through the middle of the pitch, whereas we are far too quick to sling it wide to the likes of Danny Simpson, who can hook in his lofted diagonal, eaten up inevitably by the opposition centre halves. I think this itself is a defensive tactic, because we're less likely to be caught with the ball in the middle and countered. Being caught on the counter is a huge deal for Pardew and it terrifies him IMO. That's why we often sit deep and practise the long ball game into Shola, that's why Tiote and Cabaye are told to sit rigidly infront of the two centre halves, that's why Jonas will still be starting this time next year. I think the lofted FK routine to Williamson is another example of defensive set plays, which is mental really. Even trying to limit the opposition's attacking strength from our own supposedly 'attacking' set plays. Finding it really hard to muster any positivity this season.
