  1. To be fair, Huddersfield fans weren't actually that displeased when he got sacked. Unbeaten but supposedly a lot of negative and dull tactics and playing for draws. I agree with Sewelly. No doubt a top guy and you can understand the comment with his connection to the club, but he's far from proven and we already have a superior manager.
  2. Ferdinand was brilliant at his best. Superb physically, tremendous technically and a new kind of centre half introduced to a country that rarely produced one in that style. I thought we'd win the World Cup in 2006 because of the Ferdinand/Terry combination at the heart of defence, I'd say it's when Rio was at his best.
  3. As much as I hate him, I don't think it is good news Terry could be out. Still a good player and I think he will do well with the kind of deep sit back defending we're going to be playing under Roy.
  4. I would take Osman if Lampard is out of the tournament. Hope not as he's a fantastic player and will be hugely influential along with Rooney.
  5. Yep me too except with Lescott in for Cahill. I think unfortunately Gerrard will play with Parker deep, Lampard will be off Rooney with Walcott and Young out wide though.
  6. He's got his failings but he would do a good job I think. I don't think him playing Nolan is an argument against his ability as a manager either, who else did we have at that point? Nolan scored what, 12 goals? Our main objective was survival. If we had better players available (ie a Cabaye) then I think yes, that would be a valid criticism. Yeah, a lot of games last season for Birmingham, seemed to have them going on a good run near the end though when they were knocked out.
  7. I really don't rate Gerrard any more. Sad that he's a guaranteed starter and will be playing in a deep role, where he's too forceful and easily frustrated.
  8. Hope he's not a Tiote replacement to be honest, he's not as good in my opinion. I know Tiote picks up a lot of yellows but Mulumbu is even more rash and I don't think he is as good as an athlete.
  9. Not that I would encourage it (he's positively lethal on the right) but it is probably a different story when there's a player like Cisse up front?
  10. Hmm, Carrick perhaps? I have not really seen Cleverley enough to comment. I hope we don't end up with Gerrard in there somewhere, I'm not a fan at all.
  11. Gerrard can't run as much as Lampard in my opinion, he's coped much worse with age than Lampard has, who is still a very strong athlete. Barry, Scholes and Lampard with Young and Walcott out wide for me. Could get slated for this somewhat but I think I would select Walker over Richards, I'm not actually that convinced by Richards against good opponents. He backs off a lot and gives them a lot of space, and I don't think he's the brightest.
  12. Aye, it is a bit mental. Lampard has to play frankly, and although it pains me to say it one of Parker and Barry.
  13. Great early business by Arsenal. Podolski will settle well and M'Vila is fantastic, very complete and well rounded player.
  14. We do have a few good senior players, Terry and Cole and I've always been a fan of Lampard. Must start for me to be honest. Take out the likes of Gerrard and Parker and try to mix the age up a bit, give some of the younger talents a platform. I don't think we have any chance in the tournament, but it could be useful for development.
  15. Good appointment in my opinion. He will definitely get England into an organised unit tactically but I don't expect much success because of the lack of quality players available. I am surprised to see people like Smalling and Cahill selected over Lescott on the last page, Lescott and Terry has to be the defensive partnership in my opinion.
  16. Unfortunately I can't really foresee us having much chance in this game.
  17. Ba does cut it out wide imo and we have seen some good performances there. He's without confidence and lacking in fitness.
  18. He definitely looks fatigued to me, I was watching the Man United game yesterday and he was in such good condition compared to what he is now. He was quick across ground, strong, able to turn quickly and change his body shape- just a great physical specimen. He needs a good rest and if he stays, we should get the old Demba back for August! If we had a genuine good winger to come in (it's a shame it looks as though Marveaux won't play this season) I'd consider putting Ben Arfa behind Cisse for the game at Stamford Bridge.
  19. Would quite like them to get up .. another derby .. and scott mcdonald and rhys williams playing in the premier league A closer game for the fans who travel to away games. Especially with Reading and Southampton coming up and Wolves going down. A good chance other North West clubs will be getting relegated too. Yeah, I think Boro coming up could be quite good actually for the reasons you've said.
  20. I didn't realise Boro could end up in the play-offs, I presumed they were in their usual mid table spot.
  21. It's quite exciting today to be fair.

    Dan Gosling

Gosling has useful qualities, I'm happy with him getting minutes personally. Could come in handy next season.
