Giaccherini is a nice little player.

Boateng's having a terrible game so far.
-
Walters is a moron.

Tony Pulis is part of the commentating team for this match on BT Sport

Agreed. Jonas is better on the ball than Tiote (however marginally), can deliver those short passes well enough, and is less of a risk to make clumsy fouls. Ask him to sit in front of the back four, cut down runners through the middle, and shuttle the ball away and I think he can do well. Just don't ask him to carry the ball forward or make long-range passes.

Had a little extra cash, swapped Amorebieta out for Kaboul. Hoping he stays healthy for at least a couple weeks/Vertonghen doesn't displace him when he's back.
-
Likely to start and likely to get yellow cards. Good shout, just had a look at his stats. Definitely accumulates cards.

I have Amorebieta as well, though I don't think I have him starting this week. I was under the impression that he'd be paired with Hangeland at CB.

Here's a terrible article by a guy who normally does good work for MLS. Basically boils down to, "There's no quantitative measure for 'best league in the world' and then he spews a bunch of feel-good tripe about American soccer. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/08/16/smorgasborg-dont-believe-epl-hype-there-no-such-thing-best-league-world

He's currently unattached... Be a good pick-up for a young squad in the Championship.

Wouldn't shock me in the slightest, especially if Pardew is looking to go more defensive against City. -
Parker's a completely different type of player to Danny Murphy. More defensive maybe. But Murphy developed into more of a holding midfielder as he aged. We're talking degrees, not "completely different." And I meant more as an aging central midfielder who can still play at this level, do the business for a mid-table side.

Is there anyone who doesn't have Clyne or Shaw?

I'll keep an eye on him. Decent production for Vitesse from a CM position, but it is the Eredivisie. Thanks.

Christ. FFS man Wullie, it's a fact we were making regular losses and our debt was increasing. Yes, it wasn't.

Actually pretty excited for the PL season to start-up. Dire as things seem for Newcastle at the moment, I love getting-up early on the weekends for our matches. -
Shining light in pre-season, most fans can see him starting over Lampard, due to his good form and Lamps not being able to back up games. Attacking mid or does he sit more centrally?
-
Don't think Parker's a bad player at all. Starting to lose a step, but he is 33 in two months. Could carve out a Danny Murphy role for himself somewhere (in fact he's being linked with Fulham, which would be a very good move for both parties).

I'm thinking of taking a flyer on this Van Ginkel kid for Chelsea. Anyone know much about him/whether he'll see the field at all?

You watch Rennes much like? 17 senior appearances for them according to Wiki, 17 for the French youth team and next to nowt on YouTube. I'm happy to admit I know sod all about him. I must be a s*** football fan. Based on what I've read on him in the last 10 minutes, he seems like a neat little player. Never claimed more than that. I love how I'm apparently the only person on this forum who isn't allowed to make judgements on players, despite having no more or less knowledge of them than the majority of posters. And despite several posters possessing seemingly endless knowledge on even the most obscure players. Which is never questioned, of course. I prefer your claims over many others on here who base all their opinions on Football Managers. There's couple of frauds in here. You're not one of them, neither is Moke, both of you know Altidore is shit. I've got blind faith in the guy. He's been in great form the past year. But the PL is a different beast entirely, I'm not really sure how he'll manage.

I feel like I need a token Newcastle player in my squad, but none seem to fit at this point. Not that I'd bring-in any to play this week anyway.
