  1. What? You've never thrown a petrol bomb? Obviously not that stuff, but it's a bit ridiculous pretending you're going to get 50,000 angels at a football game. I'm too young to see how it was back in the day but from what I've seen it wasn't just football that had racism. The mentality of everyone in general was different then. I wouldn't say it was rotten behaviour, it seemed to be the norm at that time. I knew my post wouldn't go down well but I can't remember the last time I heard racist chanting at a football game. This thread if basically knit-picking the smallest examples out, which seem to be have happened at games years and years ago or involve a bunch of teenagers who'll follow whatever Billy big bollocks does. So because it was the norm means that it wasn't rotten behaviour? I'm sure there is many people who went to those games and joined in with the racism but look back now and think "what was I doing?". I feel they'd be harsh to say they took part in rotten behaviour, they basically joined in with what was the norm however wrong it may look now. Various members of the Nazi Party could probably argue they were simply doing the same between 1933 and 1945 then. I believe there is quite a difference between World War 2 and a bloke calling another bloke black.

  3. I probably haven't put my point accross as well as I could, but this is something you'd expect to see on a Sunderland board. I'm not agreeing with what happened/is happening but it really isn't a major issue nowadays. I am too young to have known the crack back then but you can pick a lot up from what is said/read/seen.

  5. Some of the garbage wrote in here I wouldn't be surprised if someone complained about people standing at away games. For the record, I totally disagree with the racist chanting and mindless acts of abuse carried out in and around stadiums. In the modern era there really isn't much of that going on and reading through the thread most of the stories are from years ago. Football was like that then, it wasn't just in Newcastle either. Every club in the country, every Saturday afternoon would of had idiots (hooligans) going to the game for the purpose of fighting or abusing others. In my opinion, football has went too soft. We obviously shouldn't go back to the way it was, but I can't be alone in having absolute hatred for whoever we play. What pisses me off is people who applaud players from the opposing team, it happened a few year back when Gerrard had a stormer for Liverpool and they subbed him. I believe that to be rotten behaviour from our fans from a more recent time.
  6. There's a tram that goes to the Stadium. 20 minute journey iirc. Thats champion if so like. Be spending the day in Victoire all day then a tram upto the ground News to me, we'll be lucky to make it to London on the megabus.
  7. We've only played three games. Although we had a great season last year you have to remember where we were before then. We need to keep our feet on the ground. Some fans aren't going to be happy unless we're in the top 6 again, which is going to be a massive ask. We've beat a Spurs side that finished 4th last season, a weakened side got through against the Greeks and we weren't great against Villa. I'm no happy clapper but for it being so early in the season there's massive over reactions kicking about. We don't even know the extent of Kruls injury.
  8. Biggest over reaction of the year so far.
  9. Theres at least 19 of my mates going as it stands from Newcastle to Amsterdam. Likely to rise There's us 19 but then I know of about 15 others on the same ferry. Speaking to a few lads at poker last night and they were going via Amsterdam aswell. Is everyone on this ferry getting a coach that you've spoken to? I was looking at the ferry as a possible route as its cheap to Amsterdam but don't know how easy it will be from the other end to get there by train or something. 3 trains every hour or so to Brugge, need to change at Antwerp Central or Brussels Midi. Takes 3-4 hours. Most are getting the train but it doesn't look as cheap as first thought. It's around £100 return. We only ended up booking our own coach because there's 19 of us, I know of a few getting the train via Antwerp.

  11. I got flights and 2 nights in a hotel for £177. Flying from Gatwick so just going to get Megabus down to London. Megabus 1.30 am from Newcastle to London Arrive London 9am followed by a breakfast and a few pints Taxi to Gatwick around 1pm Fly at 3.00pm Stay in Bordeaux on the Wednesday and Thursday nights. You can get the Megabus on your own! I think you'll find if your not getting the Megabus then you're the one actually on your own son.

Have you ever been to Gatwick before? It's actually closer to Brighton than it is to London so will cost almost much for taxi to Gatwick as it has for the rest of your trip. We've got a taxi for £48 so between 4 of us it's only £12 each. The train will cost around that.

  14. Anyone needing travel from Amsterdam to Bruges see tickets & travel thread. Luxury bus includes bar, which the Dutch bloke told us twice to make sure we knew! http://www.oostenrijk-bv.nl/evenementen.html
  15. Ferry to Amsterdam £52.50 and then the train to Bruges around £90 return. £142.50 before hotel, probably book the hotel at a later date. There's about 20 of us going this way. Got Bordeaux half sorted aswell, from Gatwick return for £170. Feel a Megabus could be used to get to London like - pennies need to be saved somewhere. The excitement is already ridiculous like.
  16. I just done a search around the 25th October and came back with similar prices. Will have to do it via Hull, shame DFDS don't go to Bruges from Shields.
  17. Ferry from Hull to Bruges is the cheapest way. Just waiting for the dates to be announced!
  18. That was quality at Stoke last season, well worth another go.
  19. Aye, I'll be following in again on Ahern today. Think there's a few of us on here who rate him and just think a decent win is around the corner. Hopefully today is the day.
