Would like to see it stay 1-1 at Brentford. Haaland hattrick. You can't bray City back to be fair. 9-0. Crazy. I'd like to see Leeds sneak an equaliser but can't see it.

The worst thing is, while it's obviously only one game (and they are still 11/8 to win), we'll clearly be a lot nearer Palace in terms of points than City at the end of the season, so these would be 3 bonus points not many would expect them to get (even if they did do well against them last season) But then I guess if everyone won the matches they were 'supposed' to then it would get pretty boring pretty soon.

Captain Steak Bakes (now managing Blackpool/revising history)

Haha, was just looking for this thread to bump it myself. -
James Maddison (now playing for Tottenham Hotspur)
Paullow replied to The Prophet's topic in Football
Maddison would cap off an absolutely amazing 2022 year in terms of transfers. Imagine this time last year lining up with Pope, Trippier, Botman, Bruno, Maddison, Isak to accompany decent players like ASM, Wilson, and a rejuvenated Joelinton. Crazy. Doubt it happens, but would be unreal. -
Prutton: "Well no doubt Sunderland gave it absolutely everything, but to no avail unfortunately"

Blasting out Harry Styles' You know it's not the same as it was

Random, but didn't realise Paul Huntington was still playing. 35 next month and has left Preston after 10 years to join hometown club Carlisle. I remember him scoring against Spurs back in the day. (He actually signed a couple of weeks ago, but just noticed now).

It slams shut in 6 days, 33 minutes, and 22 seconds. (11pm on Thursday)

Yeah, I do too. Only really watch his videos when there's some sort of adversity, so haven't for a good while to be fair (QPR one was good), but I do actually like his content.

Not sure why I gave this a listen. I was trying to find the Mad Mistake's video, but landed on this: 2:10 - "I don't think there's a more promising and ambitious job in England's top 4 leagues than Sunderland right now like" Absolute crazy talk. I thought he was going to say someone like not many better jobs in the Championship outside of 3 or 4 clubs and that might have been fair enough, although seemingly not, but it's one of the best jobs in the country apparently. Christ. That 'Deluded RTG' account will have a field day with that.

I guess if he lived in and around Cheshire when he was Preston manager and was settled there then that could be a factor, and we don't know the ins and outs on his current contract etc. but, just from a footballing POV I'd say it was a bit of a step back not even a sideways move. I'd be surprised if he left, but obviously looks like it could actually happen.

8am announcement we reckon? Can still remember being in my pit when Trippier was officially unveiled.

Linfield concede a 120th minute equaliser and face a shootout. Sky Channel 972, BBC2 NI if anyone wants to see it. Plus website and iPlayer. They've thoroughly deserved to win so will be a shame if they go out. Europa Conference Group Stage and £2.5m on the line if they can win the shootout. They lost the pens 2-4 so are now out of Europe. Shame, they didn't deserve to go out.
-
They do have European matches though - that could be up to 15 matches where he potentially starts, plus perhaps more likely to go on an extended cup run (although that's debatable this season), and maybe if DDG drops a few more clangers, maybe more chance of playing in the league as well. Plus maybe, at this stage, the 'Man Utd' factor might play a part. It's frustrating for us because we are seemingly losing a fine keeper to basically play the same role at another PL club, but I can see it from Dubs POV.

I see it's just gone north of Liverpool, so panic over!

https://www.cpfc.org/forums/showthread.php?t=287075&page=2 They seem less pleased than us. Away and it would have been poor, but you've got to take anyone outside of the obvious at home. Big crowd, a chance for others to get to the ground, we'll be betting favourites, decided on the night, and a decent chance to make the last 16 with at least 7 PL sides going out, as well as a few in L1/L2 guaranteed to make it through. Could have been better, obviously, but I'd have taken that before the draw was made.
-
Think I'll just stick to SSN tonight as opposed to Bolton vs Villa. The vast majority of LC matches are tonight and they have the goals as they go in. Some decent looking matches as well, although it will be interesting to see how strong the PL sides have decided to go.

Massive contrast to one year ago. There's been times where I have been unable to watch / follow a match, but last year vs Burnley was the first time ever I've just been at home and completely forgot that Newcastle were playing. I was watching the US Open tennis which would have been in it's first week, but I remember around 10.30ish that we were playing, checked the result, and quickly moved on, but that had never happened to me before. It's a competition that we should be targeting. The likes of Dubs, Kraft, Lascelles, Longstaff, Murphy, Fraser, Wood etc. should be more than good enough to get the job done tomorrow, you'd hope, but if we did make it to the QF stage and we were say 8th-11th no real top 6 hopes, or no danger of relegation then I'd actually like to see us potentially rest certain players for league matches, and proper go all out for the cup. I'd far rather finish 10th or 11th and at least get to the LC final, than 8th or 9th, possibly even 7th, and go out of this in the first couple of rounds. First time in AGES that I've considered this competition as somewhat of a priority, and hopefully the club will as well.

Lots of free bets kicking about for this for existing customers. £5 at Bet365, £5 bet builder at PP and William Hill, SkyBet £1 bet builder type. Any others I'm missing?

Isak and Merino starting for Sociedad. One of 10 live games ITV4 will be showing this season.
-
Didn't realise ITV4 had some La Liga football this season - Sociedad vs Barcelona on at 9pm. Can't get enough of football at the moment so I'll be tuning into that, and possibly Atalanta vs Milanista on BT before that.

Looks like Arsenal's 2nd will be chalked off. Or not, 0-2 already. Game over surely, if it wasn't before, but I do have Odegard in my dream team.
