  1. A point at home to almost certainly relegated Huddersfield to get promoted - you'd have taken that! Most Huddersfield fans won't be wanting their team to win
  2. Another stoppage here, so could easily go to the 104th minute. Most neutrals will want Ipswich up I would have thought, 'dirty Leeds' and all that, but for a team like Coventry who got to the playoff final last year, and the FA Cup semi final this year, and will look to push on further next season, it will generally be better for them if a parachute team like Leeds were out of the mix next season.
  3. 4 mins into 11 mins added time at Coventry vs Ipswich. Still 1-2.
  4. Won 2-0, and so did Stockton, so it's Stockton vs Dunston in the final and another NE team in the NPL Premier Division next season, so good news for Blyth, Morpeth, and Hebburn. Morpeth were pretty much on their own this season, bar Whitby at an absolute push, but they have 3 new local, intriguing fixtures to look forward to next season. There is a direct train from Hexham to Stockton, but nothing like as convenient as to Dunston, so don't think I'll look to go (if there even was a chance to get in).
  5. 2-1 Ipswich. They have been good since Cov equalised. See it out FFS.
  6. Fuck sake, 1-1. I don't have much faith in Ipswich. They've had a superb season, but they always seem so vulnerable. Went ahead 3 times the other day, but couldn't see it out. A draw would still be fine, bit I was hoping they would have held out for more than 2 mins from that previous post.
  7. Coventry have been the better team since the goal, but Ipswuch could have gone 2-0 up there (hit the bar). Fine margins. A draw would still be an ok result for them, but hopefully they see it out.
  8. Huddersfield are on the brink of relegation, like 99.99% certain. On Championship Manager you could probably cheat to keep them up by 'Adding New Managers', but realistically they are gone as they need a 16 goal swing with Plymouth on the final day. What do you think would be the biggest swing needed where some fans would have doubts in their mind? like say an 8 goal swing where one wins 4-0 and one loses 4-0. They haven't got an (R) next to their name, but seeing as it's only Ipswich or Leeds who can finish 2nd, I'd imagine many Huddersfield fans would happily see their side lose Ipswich on Saturday if it meant the playoffs for Leeds.
  9. Goal for Ipswich. VAR has its place, but its a much better watch when you know it can't be ruled out if it wasn't instantly disallowed. Ipswich would have been sweating there.
  10. Not sure which match to watch tonight. Bayern vs Real speaks for itslef, but Coventry vs Ipswich is massive. If Ipswich can get a point then they will be like 90% likely to get automatic promotion, but if they lose then it will probably flip the other way, and I can't see them getting through the playoffs if they do miss out on automatic. I doubt Southampton will offer much resistance against Leeds on the final day with Leeds being a potential playoff final opponent, so really important for Ipswich to get something tonight to keep it in their hands.

They were 14th on the final day, and ended up gaining 4 places. Really tight from 9th to 14th. We were 3-0 up at home to West Brom past the hour mark, and ended up conceding a 90th minute equaliser to draw 3-3: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/13444173.stm
  12. I'd like to finally finish above Man Utd as they are the only team I've never seen us finish above in my time, but if someone offered me 7th place now and Man Utd to finish 6th, then I'd gladly take it. We'll likely finish anywhere from 6th-8th, 9th at worst, so 7th would be in the middle of that, but more importantly, it would guarantee some form of Europe (Conference in this case). If we finish 8th then there would be no Europe, or if we finished 7th behind Chelsea then European qualification would be out of our hands. At least this way we could just enjoy the FA Cup final, watch as neutrals (if we wanted), and not be denied a place like we were in 1995 when Rideout got that winner for Everton in the final and we finished 6th but missed out as a result. I was only 8 at the time, and probably wouldn't have known what was going on at the time (in terms of missing out), but still...

Sunderland have finished in the top 12 of English football only 3 times since 1955/56, the 2 back to back 7th place finishes under 'Reidy' and that 10th under Brewcy (where they passed up on the final day after our Pardew WBA home debacle), and all 3 of those seasons they were decently placed fairly well into the season. 1999/20 - they were 3rd heading into Christmas and 8 points clear of 6th place. 2000/01 - they were second after 23 (and 24 games) And finally that weird season under Bruce in 2010/11 - they were 6th after 24 games, well clear of 7th, but then only got 1 point from their next 9 matches, and I think they were 13th or 14th on the final day before beating already relegated West Ham and passing 3 or 4 clubs (including us) to claim a lucrative 10th place finish. So that's 3 fairly decent league finishes, or perhaps 2, in 70 years. If you got into football when you were like 8 or 9 then you'd have to be around 80+ years old to remember anything better, yet despite 3 top 12 finishes in 70 years (and counting, as they're unlikely to get there again anytime soon) I'd imagine many, or most, of their fans would consider them a top 12 club in the country.
  14. I'm mainly watching the Forest match, but I do enjoy streaming big games of more random leagues that I normally wouldn't watch at this stage of the season. Sturm Graz were 2-0 up on Salzburg after 70 odd mins and looking like they were going to go 6 points clear and likely end Salzburg 10 year Bundesliga streak, but the home side are back to 2-2 now with 8 mins to go. A draw would still be a decent result for Graz.
  15. One of Solihull Moors, Bromley or Altrincham will be in the football league next year, the latter two currently playing on TNT Sport 2 for the right to play Solihull at Wembley.
  16. Perfect result. Title race still on, and hopefully Spurs will take a bit of confidence going into their match with Chelsea on Thursday.
  17. It's been pretty poor generally, they won 5 of their first 6 league games, but assuming they lose here, their next 28 would be W6 D11 L11, so that's 29 points in 28 games, which wouldn't even work out as 40 over a full season. Just wiki'ing Ferguson as well, thought I hadn't heard his name mentioned much recently and he's been injured since the end of March and his season is over, but he's only scored 6 goals all season, 3 of course against us, and hasn't scored since November.
  18. How does promotion between NL D1 and D2 work? Looking on wiki, admittedly not the best source, D1 currently has 20 teams, with seemingly only Sunderland RCA dropping, and in D2 Blyth promoted and then one of 4 to join them from the playoffs - will there be 21 teams in D1 next year, or will Marske be going straight into that league to make it 22 and an even number meaning every team can play each game week? I forgot about the 2 teams getting promoted, so surely it can't be a 19 team league next year?
  19. Yeah, from a perspective that you're the 3/1 to 7/2 underdog, so more likely to lose than not, plus you would remain unbeaten against them this season, and put another nail in their title bid, but you're pretty much guaranteed to finish 5th anyway, and if you are wanting to finish 4th (especially with 5th almost certainly being Europa) then you will need to pull an unexpected result or two out of the bag at some point, and today would be a great place to start.

They really have had a shocking end to the season. P14 W2 D3 L9 F8 A18 GD-10 PTS 9 So only 9 points across what is almost a third of the season, and 8 goals in 14 matches is awful.
  21. Didn't realise old Championship manager legend Michael Dunwell was Stockton's manager. If Stokcton lose their semi final and Dunston win, do Dunston get home advantage in the final? So just saw that Dunston and Stockton have their semi finals on Tuesday at 7.45pm and the final (where the highest placed team plays at home) is at 3pm on Saturday. I'd prefer Dunston to get promoted, but would like Stockton to if Dunston didn't, but if Dunston got to the final and played at home, I might look to go, so not really sure what I'm hoping for. It was a fairly similar situation last year: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022–23_Northern_Premier_League#Division_One_East Stockton finished 2nd and Hebburn finished 3rd, so both north east sides had home advantage in their semi finals, but Long Eaton ended up beating both (away from home) on penalties. Stockton also lost in the final in 21/22 season (to Marske), so they do kind of deserve to go up, especially after missing out to Hebburn by only one point. Long Eaton ended up joining the equivalent Southern League Premier for this season, but I see they have got relegated.
  22. The North London derby is one of my favourite fixtures to watch as a neutral, so I'm looking forward to that tomorrow.# Not sure who I want to win, probably want the NL clubs to finish 1st and 4th, but they both need to keep winning for that to happen, and a draw doesn't do either much good, although probably favours Tottenham. Any dropped points for Arsenal and it's pretty much over, but I'd like Tottenham to go into their match with Chelsea on Thursday with some confidence and belief, so probably just hoping for a good game and for their to be a winner.
  23. I thought it was a foul in real time, although probably the bias coming through, but it was soft, and Carlos didn't really complain at the time, not straightaway anyway, but once he goes to the monitor, it's always getting chalked off. Looking like 7th will go right to the wire.
  24. Both games turning sour and both now level. 3-3 at Hull now.
  25. Omari Hutchinson channeling his inner Laurent Robert in this match.
