  1. There are some reasonable looking TV ties, but I can't really be bothered with the FA Cup this weekend. I'll probably watch the Chrlsea match tonight, but will turn it off if/when they go 0-2 up.
  2. Hoping for a draw tonight in the Sunderland vs Liverpool match? It's a difficult one. A draw means a point lost overall for 2 teams in and around us. I think that's what I'd prefer, and probably hope it was Liverpool if there had to be a winner, so draw-Liverpool-Sunderland. The top 5 seem gone and I'm still expecting Liverpool to finish above us, so if we could finish 7th and one of the above 6 won the FA Cup, and 7th got into the Europa, that would possibly be the best we could hope for realistically. More chance we finish above Liverpool if Sunderland were to win, but if they did, then if would significantly increase the chances of them finishing above us, especially with their home form, which would be far worse. Very interesting match.
  3. It's hard to say. It really is tight between the top 4 or 5. Hebburn obviously had a modest start and have been very good in recent months, but no team are averaging 2 points per game. They do have 7 of their final 12 matches at home, including a big one on Saturday. Probably know more at 5pm.
  4. Ossett scored a 94th minute equaliser against Bishop Auckland, despite being down to 9 men. Extra 2 points would have been really handy for Bishops who seem to have turned a corner under Martin Gray. Blyth T, Ashington and Newton Aycliffes home matches were all postponed, but Lincoln United unfortunately beat Heaton to pull further away from the bottom 4. Heaton have had a great season, but looks like it will kind of just peter out from here. Not helped by losing a couple of players recently. Consett won again and are up to 7th, but Blyth S are away at leaders Redcar tomorrow (weather permitting)
  5. Hednesford get rid of their management team, despite sitting 2nd in the table and on the back of promotion last season. https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/non-league/2026/02/09/hednesford-town-make-difficult-decision-to-part-ways-with-promotion-winning-manager-gavin-hurren/ They are at home to Hebburn tomorrow evening.
  6. Not really relevant, but Droylsden have had a big fall in recent times. They were in the Conference National in 2008 and a year later made the 2nd round of the FA Cup, as well as in 2010/11. Today they are in the 10th tier and the equivalent of the likes of Prudhoe and AFC Newbiggin.
  7. You could say that about most teams then, 5 of the big 6, Villa, Everton, Sunderland, Fulham, that's 9 sides there, 18 games, almost half of your matches. Brentford at home, regardless of where they currently are is one of the easier 10 games of the season when you consider our away form.
  8. If you were looking to finish 5th, 6th, or even 7th you've got to be getting 4-6 points against the likes of Brentford. We're on course for 0. Absolute wank, and harder games to come.
  9. Good little spell, could really do with that 2nd goal while on top.
  10. He didn't know much about it, but I'll take it
  11. Only if it was a genuine attempt. That would have still been red.
  12. Started today, so makes you think what actually went on. Obviously not good enough, but could have still been on the bench for a game or two and come on when Miley had to go CB. Sad way for him to depart after so many years.
  13. I've started watching more Magdeburg matches in recent weeks so was wanting them to win, but obviously nothing like if you were watching Newcastle, but aye, a really good match. Every match over the weekend on YouTube and it's pretty cool having 5.30pm matches on a Friday, especially with me WFH that day. Some big clubs / big attendances in that league, and even more so last year with Cologne and Hamburg involved.
  14. Finished 4-5, so the exact same score in the reverse fixture with the visitors winning both times. Furth almost leveled with pretty much the last kick of the game. It's good how all the matches in that league are available on YouTube with English commentary.
  15. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C72oH3cunUo 1974 European Cup Winners Cup winners 1. FC Magdeburg currently 5-2 up against Greuther Furth in the big Bunderliga 2 relegation battle. They went a goal down, then 1-5 up, but Furth have just pulled one back. Not even half time yet. It was 5-4 to Furth in the reverse match. 3-5 at half time
  16. 7 goals conceded in our last 90 mins of football. Disgraceful.
  17. Feels strange watching a semi final when your team are still (technically) involved involved but not really caring. In 2 of the past 3 years we had already qualified and most would have been hoping Forest could have (very unlikely) turned their match around with Man Utd in 2023 and obviously hoping Spurs could have held on to their first leg lead last season, but here it just doesn't feel at all like we could actually be playing either of them in the final next month.
  18. Shearer didn't score, but can't remember if it was saved or high/wide. Jenas scored, Hughes missed the decisive one from our POV. I can remember Jenas missing and Bobby's reaction, but something is telling me that was some sort of pre season friendly competition.
  19. Headline on ITV's Look North equivalent just there said the Magpies go further than they ever have before in the Champions League, heard that a few times, but it's incorrect. We have never been beyond a group stage before (until now), but this is just really the round of 32 (or technically the last 24), but we made the last 16 under Bobby in the 2000s when it was a 2 group stage format and we famously got through the first group stage after losing the first 3 matches.
  20. Yeah, it's a weird game. A(nother) draw against this version of PSG would be an amazing result, but a draw in reality isn't that much better than a loss, and I can't see us winning whichever side we put out, so I would have been playing the likes of Willock and Ramsey. It's just a bit strange, simultaneously, how you do so well the previous season to get nights like this and then kind of prioritise other fixtures with more jeopardy
  21. No booking for the Villa player for the shirt pull?
