    St James' Park

It's definitely getting to the stage now where I would be pretty disappointed if the news was (pretty minimal) expansion. The once in a generation thing does make it sound like a new stadium will be the direction they go, and it is a real chance to have one of the best stadiums in the world. Everyone raves about Spurs' stadium and it being the best in the country, well, with the wealth and infrastructure pedigree in place, here's a chance to build one bigger and better, perhaps with a full roof, like those in the States, and become the only significant stadium in England to have one. Imagine some of the world wide events that could become a possibility.
  2. Just having a quick look at where some of the released players have ended up. I don't think there were any more than the below 11 and more than half have found new clubs. You'd think Paige would be able to find a 3rd tier club, and I guess some of the others may go into other directions, like football camps, or completely out of the game. While Newcastle still have a few weeks until their first match, it looks like the 3rd and 4th tiers get underway this coming Sunday. Bridget Galloway - Nottingham Forest (they've gone professional) Naomi Bedeau - Nottingham Forest Sharna Wilkinson - Middlesborough (4th tier) Keira Skelton - Middlesbrough Grace Boyes - Middlesbrough Anna Soulsby - Durham Cestria (4th tier) Paige Bailey-Gayle - can't find anything Lillie Woods - can't find anything Cara Milne-Redhead - can't find anything Erin Nelson - can't find anything Tyler Dodds - can't find anything
  3. Not the biggest crowd at the moment, probably why I have signal in the ground. I guess some could filter in around 2pm for the 2nd half as it is quite a long time to be in the ground most of the day.
  4. Ah, it's Hannah Reid, must have hot married over the summer.
  5. Who's Hawkins? Another new signing? I see 5 of 10 outfield players were doomed* this summer. *signed
  6. Looks a stronger team tonight. Something like the below for tomorrow: Oddy Trips Schaar Kelly A Murphy? Bruno Willock White? Almiron New lad? Barnes Anyone else I'm missing?
  7. What's the deal with the badge change? Seems random putting a badge on they had for only 5 years where you'd have to be around 45+ to remember it. Slowly planting the seeds for a new badge altogether in the coming years?
  8. Bravo have just scored this second. They now lead 2-0, and 2-1 on agg. Connahs must have done well to win in Slovenia last week.
  9. If anyone wants a football fix, Connahs Quay vs NK Bravo Ljubljana in the Conference Lrague is 6 mins away from a pen shootout. It's on S4C online and takes about 40 seconds to sign up. Just switched on now and it's quite a picturesque setting in North Wales
  10. Sad to see them go, they have been great for the club and fondly remembered, but I read the thread on the train and the way home and thought it said PIF to depart and nearly shat a brick, ha.
  11. It is intriguing these one or two high profile potential signings. You'd think they would be the wrong side of 30, a former Lioness, and possibly local, and there's not too many obvious options. Jordan Nobbs is 32 later this year, signed an 18 month contract with Villa in Jan 2023, so would be out of contract unless they triggered the option for another year, but looks like she played pretty much every game for a WSL side last year. Lucy Staniforth is a fan, also turns 32 in a couple of months, and also plays for Villa. Not sure if she was injured for chunks of the season, but she only started 8 league games and made a further 3 as a sub. She's made no secret of wanting to be involved with the club at some point, so possibly a likely candidate. Demi Stokes in 33 this year, recently left Man City, but hasn't played much the past 2 years, grew up in the area. Rachael Laws, GK, is coming up to 34, has played the last 4 years for Liverpool and another big fan, often on Newcastle Fans TV doing interviews, but if they are rumoured to sign Moan, then this would definitely seem a no go as both would obviously want to be #1 and there's not many matches in the season as it is. Doesn't look like she has played for England before, and I'm not sure many would have heard of her. After that, I've got nothing
  12. Not sure if they tried to get a 4th team like last year and struggled, or if this was always going to be the plan. I'm not sure how attractive Nice vs Villarreal and Nice vs Fiorentina were to the masses, but it did feel like more value for money. I went on the Sunday last year so wasn't there for the lasses match on Saturday, but by all accounts that seemed like a third wheel being the 3rd match on the Saturday and I think most of the fans went home after the men's matches (as 3 is a very long day), whereas this year, the match will surely feel more part of the weekend so that's great for them, and I'm sure the team will be on a lot more radars now as they continue to climb the tables.
  13. I think I'd rather pay 30m for KDH as well, but he's not as young as you think. I thought he was like 18 or 19 when he was breaking through at Leicester 2 or 3 years ago, but he'll be 26 a couple of weeks into the new season, so Elliot has over 4 years on him. Forest could sell Anderson in 4 years time, and he'd still be younger than what KDH is now, so there is far more resale value on him. This is possibly KDHs last big move.

    Copa America

  15. Georgia were good fun and them opening the scoring tonight was one of the better moments of the tournament, but with all the heavyweights on this side of the draw, and one of them surely nailed on to get to the final, I'd rather rush home from work on Friday to watch Germany vs Spain at 5pm than Germany vs Georgia.
  16. Bit of a shame they couldn't have promoted either Hashtag or Burnley (could have done a regional playoff like they used to have between the respective N and S champs), or just given Lewes a reprieve. 2 league games less now, 20 in total, and 4 of those will be local derbies. If the League Cup is the same format as last season then it should be an extra 3 or 4 games (minimum) there, plus however far you get in the FA Cup, but it's probably looking at just 25/26 matches in total, whereas last season they had 32 by reaching the cup final, so it's likely going to be hard to keep more happy in terms of minutes.
  17. It'll be pretty strange watching as a Brentford fan. 4 Denmark players in the squad and would normally be great/proud watching them play, but I'm not sure if any of them have started a match yet (didn't watch their Serbia match), so that would be pretty frustrating.
  18. I'd much rather Germany come through here, but probably better for the match as an actual contest that that was ruled out.
  19. There probably is just about enough teams to have a 32 team event - Sweden and Norway are obvious candidates and have players most would want to see. Greece actually won it 20 years ago. Not sure if Russia will ever get back to playing UEFA event, but they would be another. It kind feel like Iceland's golden era is coming to an end, and many suspected, but they did make the QF in 2016, and even qualified for the World Cup only 6 years ago, and would have only been one of 13 or 14 European nations, so they could be in and not look too out of place. The likes of Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland feel more important from a home nations perspective, but at least 1 of those could be included. Struggling after that, but if you added in a couple from Finland, Montenegro, Israel, Bosnia etc. then it wouldn't dilute the quality too much and most of those would have had a player over the years who most would want to see, like a Litmanen, Djeko. Obviously if it was extended to 32 then qualification among the better sides would be pretty pointless and you'd never get a Netherlands type missing out, like they did in 2016, but I don't think I'd be against it if it was going to expand again.
