  1. Hoping Villa hang on for the win, but even a draw would be fantastic. Would mean just one more point from the last two, and even a chance of getting it if we lost both, although that would definitely be too close for comfort
  2. Haha, aye. It's far from ideal . I'm just watching the Carlisle match, and getting Villa updates from here.
  3. Almost ban worthy, surely . Assumed it was 1-1.
  4. They should have had this Stockport match start at 12pm not 12.30pm. It's on both Main Event and Sky Sports Football and I assume both will just show this one to a conclusion with the potential pens, but it will be pretty shit if Carlisle's match doesn't come on air until like the 25th minute. Edit - Carlisle vs Bradford - now on 'Main Event'

I get the impression from previous posts that we live in a similar area, but while it's not hostile and far more amicable than deepest, darkest Pennywell, most of the people I know would prefer their respective team in the top league and the other(s) in the league below and being insignificant.
  6. If it was at VP, then I'd have been reasonably confident of them getting something, but Liverpool are pretty formidable at home, and Villa have only got 1 point and 1 goal from their last 3 away. I just think if Spurs win today then Villa will probably psychologically think that's realistically probably it as far as their top 7 chances go, and will possibly deflate them a bit, but wow Brentford now ahead!
  7. I think Villa will get beat regardless, but from that point of view, I'd definitely want Spurs to drop points today.
  8. Aye, it's a weird one, and sounds annoying, but I'll be singing it loud and proud come 5pm if they get something today.
  9. Yippeeh aye aaaayyyy yippeeh aye ooohhhh, Holte Enders in the sky...
  10. Glorious chance for them there. Should have scored really.
  11. It's strange, all this nerves talk, I'm as invested as I have been for years, watch as much video content as I can, browse as many forums as I can etc. but I never really get nerves watching Newcastle, and it's not because I'm confident they will win as I'm generally fairly pessimistic, whereas when my favourite tennis player plays I've often knots in my stomach and sometimes struggle to eat before a match . I guess it's probably mainly because it's such a big change to how the club is run now, and that I know we'll be in a good place regardless, but there's definitely a contrast between the two.

Yeah, Swansea ended the season unbeaten in 9 with 23 points from 27, finishing just 3 points off the PO's - if they had 3 or 4 more regular league matches they could have quite easily gone up, so will be interesting to see what they do next year. Stoke ended the season badly (2 points from 7) but they did show flashes in that period when they beat S'land 5-1 and Cov 4-0, a few other good results / performances around that time, and there must surely have been a reason why Neil went there from the Mackems, so they could be in the mix. Should be an interesting year.
  13. Chuffed for Coventry, really hope they make it back to the big time. Sunderland vs Middlesbrough again next season, not played them since early 2016 and 2010 respectively.

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/ewigeTabelle/pokalwettbewerb/GB1 Crystal Palace will (surely) be knocking them into 18th in the all time PL table next season. Their proud record -292 goal difference won't be under threat now that Southampton have dropped.

Well, that's one bit of good news at least, fuck the potential £1,500 windfall They have had a good season to be fair, and may do OK next year, but they have now officially had as many years outside the Premier League as they have had in it. 16 out, 16 in (including next season). Would LOVE to see Coventry come up now. If not, probably Boro.

Are those with bets on just going to let theirs lie, and then potentially cash out if Sunderland are leading with 10 mins or so in the final when you will probably be able to get like 85% of your return? I have a number of different smaller bets, so was tempted to cash one of them out for like £100 and at least I will have made something, but the bets were obviously put on in the first place as a method of at least cashing in on potential disappointment, so I think I will leave it for tonight, and buy more time for the final if they get there, and if they don't then it's a 16th season (overall) out of the PL for them next year. I must say it is quite nice to be in this position, and while I don't want them up, it has removed a bit of annoyance of them sneaking into the top 6 and potentially going to the final.
  18. Well two main things have changed. Firstly, Brighton hammering Arsenal away from home the next day will have naturally put major doubts in many peoples minds ahead of that upcoming match, and Liverpool winning tonight, even if expected, means there's less margin for error. Yes, we still just need win 2 of our 3 matches as you say, but after beating Southampton, it was win 2 out of Arsenal, Leeds, Brighton, and Leicester and we are there with at least one match to spare, whereas now, if we don't beat Brighton, then it's almost certainly going to go to the last day, and not many would have thought that after beating Southampton to temporarily go 12 points clear only 15 days ago, and something everyone would have massively wanted to avoid. It is still in our hands to wrap it up with a game to go, two homes games, games where we are individually favourites to win (albeit not odds to beat Brighton, so as much chance of them in the 'double chance' market), but despite us not doing too much wrong since Southampton, the pendulum does seem to be swinging against us.
  19. But if they do then at least it would almost certainly just be 5th into 6th instead of 4th into 5th. You'd obviously rather finish as high as possible, but it's still a rare top 6 finish and still Europa League, although not sure if 6th would require an extra tie, in which case, aye, would be beneficial to finish above them. If they win here then it's not beyond the realms of possibility - they have Southampton to play, they'd obviously need to beat us, and then Man City (H) wouldn't be half as daunting as it would have been if Arsenal were still somewhat in the equation, which of course they won't be if they lost here.
  20. Fair enough really. They are like 99.99% safe, and obviously have a massive match coming up. At least it's also against a team with nothing much to play for. Brentford will finish in the top 10, but not in the top 8 (or Europe), and at least it's not potentially gifting 3 points to a side going for the title, Europe, or escaping the drop (I guess they would have probably gone a bit stronger if it was against a Leeds of Leicester, just in case). Fulham will probably be a bit disappointed as they would like to finish above Brentford and be the top team in West London, but it's pretty meh in the grand scheme of things.
  21. Just about to say the same. Boro well on top for the first 30 mins, Coventry came more into it, but defo the better side this half.
  22. I was hoping Coventry would come up from the 4 involved, and if Luton had held on, or built on their solid start yesterday, I would have wanted Cov to win this, but with Sunderland fairly likely to make the final, Boro will likely be the bigger threat, so would probably want them to come through this tie and ultimately go on and get promoted. Mind, Luton vs Sunderland 2nd leg is before the second leg of this one, so I guess a draw here would be good, keep it relatively poised, and if Luton do the business on Tuesday, hope Cov win the next day, but if Sunderland win, then defo root for Boro.
  23. League Two football likely won't appeal to the masses generally, but there'll certainly be many Newcastle fans in Northumberland and stretching into Cumbria with an interest in that match.
