  1. Yeah, I was a bit concerned when they seemingly took the lead, could have been 4 wins on the bounce. Whereas now, back bottom of the league and may have their minds on that. Villa's very good form continues, but they should be too far back to concern us.
  2. Shit, 2-2. Hopefully it stays like that, and no away winner.
  3. Wood's replacement equalises for Forest, VAR permitting.
  4. Leicester 1-1. Subject to VAR.
  5. Yeah, looking forward to it. Draw is absolutely the best result for us, but if there had to be a winner then I'm not really sure which I'd prefer. Top 4 wise, it would have to be a Chelsea win as Liverpool are currently much more favoured (than Chelsea) in terms of odds, so more of a rival in that sense, but then a(n unexpected) Chelsea win would be huge for them, they'd have B2B wins, pressure eased, new signings could click, we still have to go to Stamford Bridge etc. that gap should sharp change, so from a 'secure top 6' perspective, Chelsea winning wouldn't be great. I know that isn't the most optimistic of outlooks, and it would take a bad run of form in the second half of the season for us to finish 7th or lower, but I probably would still take 6th now if offered. Because Liverpool are more likely to win, so less shocks and disruption, I'm thinking draw-Liverpool-Chelsea in terms of preference, but definitely would like to see a draw.
  6. It was actually Burnley's first shot on target, but it felt like a barrage. Loads of corners and openings.
  7. They've kept a lot of clean sheets under Corberan have West Brom, but I'd be surprised if they did here (still 0-1 after 62 mins). Burnley cranking up the pressure, and think they'll get their reward soon.
  8. Getting a bit tasty this one. Burnley hit the woodwork a few times, both with a disallowed goal, and Burnley wanting a penalty just before.
  9. Burnley vs West Brom at 8pm on Sky tonight. Burnley won 7 in a row in the league, or 11 of their last 12. WBA won 4 in a row, or 9 of their last 10 (since a certain manager left), so both in very good form. It's really hard to see Burnley not finishing in the top 2 given they have a 16 point cushion on 3rd, but hopefully WBA can strengthen their play off position with a result. Drew 1-1 earlier in the season under Bruce, with WBA getting a 98th minute equaliser, also on Sky. Sheff Utd vs Hull on the budget red button service at 7.45pm, they are on 7 and 6 match unbeaten runs respectively.
  10. npope29 Verified Leaving me twice in 12 months man ?? all the best big dogggg ❤️
  11. He's not the answer for where we are now, and especially longer term, and potentially looks a good deal for us (possibly both clubs really), but at the same time, while he wasn't here that long, I am a little bit sad. Like many, I watch far more NUFC YouTube content these days, and it will seem strange all those 'Toon in training', match cams, overseas trips videos etc. and him not being around anymore. Many fans will be far more engaged and invested in Newcastle United these past 15 months, and he's definitely played his part in that re-emergence. Hopefully we do get some sort of replacement in because despite what some say, he absolutely is 'better than nowt'.
  12. Good luck to him and hope he does well there (and nothing to do with any potential activation clause stuff). We obviously overpaid, but we were definitely in a better position with him in the team than without, and while it was later more of a bit part role, our record since he joined was absolutely outstanding, and while fans will argue the extent, he definitely played some part.
  13. Wood joined the Magpies from Burnley in January 2022 and helped Eddie Howe's side to move from the relegation places last season to an eventual 11th-placed finish - scoring vital goals in matches against Southampton and Fulham.
  14. Cracking match, and a very satisfying result. Didn't see that coming at all at half time.
  15. The key thing is while 2nd would look nice, and would be an unbelievable effort, the difference between finishing 2nd and 4th is effectively minimal - you haven't won the league, and you're in the Champions League, but the difference between finishing 4th and 5th is massive. Best result by some distance for us, and Spurs blowing a 2 goal lead helps as well because it will be demoralising.
  16. Fuck sake. City definitely off it recently.
  17. That's defo the worst option, by far, but on the other hand, an away draw is very much a point gained for Spurs - I'd snap your hand off for a point when we go down there. I guess if City did draw then they would at least remain close to us for now, but I'd be amazed, like absolutely stunned, if they finished 5th or lower, so I don't think they are realistically a competitor for a top 4 place. I've also seen us finish 2nd twice and 3rd once (just about too young to remember our first season in the PL), so for me, while it would be very satisfying, there's not a massive difference between finishing 2nd or 4th this season, neither win the league but still get CL football, whereas the difference between finishing 4th to 5th will be felt a lot more, so I'd far rather keep an inferior team (to City) at bay as much as possible.
