Has he actually made an obvious mistake for us? The only one I can really think of is the goal against Brentford which went through him, but didn't really matter as it was ruled out for offside anyway.
  2. Definitely the best result for Newcastle, although I am kind of more watching from a neutral perspective. I'm personally not expecting us to finish above either, so doesn't really feel like a pressure match from our perspective (to me).
  3. Liverpool still have the FA Cup, so if they win that then they will be in the Europa League anyway, but no, I think most sides would prefer to be in the Europa League than nothing, maybe not so much the Conference, but the CL bonus from winning it definitely adds a dimension to it, especially when (bar last season) you see some of the sides making the final: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UEFA_Cup_and_Europa_League_finals It's not done Arsenal any harm this season (or Man Utd), and if you win your group then you're just looking at 13 matches in total, and some of the earlier ones will probably be against very weak opposition - Man U had Sheriff and that Cyprus team in their group.
  4. Heating up a bit now this Leeds match.

Because it's a football match on TV. Why shouldn't you? Today was quite an intriguing match heading into it with them both in and around the playoffs and the geographic proximity. Granted I switched over at the pen / red card, but it was an interesting match. Loads of non Leeds and Brentford fans will be tuning into this match at the moment, hence why Sky / BT pay so much for the rights.
  6. I won't get a subscription at the moment, but Viaplay Sports do seem to have a lot of things on recently which I probably would have watched if on BT Sport / Sky Sports etc. I'd probably watch Leeds anyway, but may have switched over to Hibs-Hearts especially if Kuol came one. Rangers-Celtic League Cup final is on there next month, loads of La Liga matches, and Euro 2024 qualifiers. If they add a few more things then I probably would end up subscribing at some point.
  7. I don't think Brentford will be a threat at the end of the season, but 7 matches unbeaten, only the top 3 have lost less, and if they win today they will be 7 points behind us and we still have to go there (where they have only lost to Arsenal this season). I don't see them as much of a threat as the 'bigger' clubs or Brighton, and like Fulham, suspect they probably will fall away eventually, but they do need to be respected at this stage. Therefore hoping Leeds can get something today.

Or let him shoot on goal, and worst case scenario, you've still got 40 mins to try and get an equaliser with the same amount of players.

Can't see this being much of a watch anymore, so switching to Super Sunday build up. I was wanting Boro to win, but even watching as a neutral, a double jeopardy decision like that always kills the game.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/64103273 The stats make it look pretty even, but Sunderland have definitely looked the better side in the first half.

Aye, was going to mention him as well, bit didn't want to name half of their team They seem a young side as well, which probably bodes well.

Their front line does look decent to be fair. Diallo cost Man Utd 25m (rising to 40m) only 2 years ago. Stewart, while not many Championship games, obviously is highly rated. Roberts was seen as a big prospect a few years ago while at City, and even Pritchard (who's not playing) commanded an 8 figure fee not too long ago. Probably not the most depth in the world, but they do have a few fairly good players, hence why they are in the top half with one of the better GDs in the league.

They've started doing this for some reason, cameo appearances. Port Vale's director Flitcroft did a bit of their match with Peterborough the other night, and then Wilder (neutral) was a third wheel in the Burnley-WBA match on Friday.

I would like to see Newcastle do well for three reasons. It puts the NE on the national football map. It means Blunderland remain in their shadow, which must be so hard for them to accept, and they cannot boast about being the top NE team because the facts speak for themselves. Newcastle look a good bet for a trophy this season, which will push the knife even further into their envious chest. They don't like to be told but they are forever in the shadow of their bigger cousins from the Tyne. they’re a funny bunch, living in Newcastles shadow. They get good attendances. Mind their prices are much lower than ours and have been for years. They just have a bigger fanbase. Although historically their attendances are much more similar to ours than Newcastle. It's an inconvenient truth for them that they are looked upon by the rest of the country as a club that is similar in size to Boro and not Newcastle.

Yeah, there's a fair few more. I was having a bit of a chuckle reading it last night, ha.

I'm looking forward to the match tomorrow, and I'll be far more interested than if it was Sunderland vs Watford/Norwich etc. there's definitely an edge to the fixture. I was also browsing a Boro forum - plenty of 'in shadow' talk on this thread, which won't particularly please any lurking Wearsiders https://fmttmboro.com/index.php?threads/is-it-a-derby.41469/

  18. Just a needless comment though. We're obviously going to be signing players above our current station to get to the next level. Likewise when Man City signed Yaya and Silva - they'd never finished in the top 4 in recent memory, well before the PL era, in theory shouldn't have been attracting players of that calibre, but were clearly a team on the up and going places, so seemed normal.
  19. Frustrating, but take the point, unbeaten run and clean sheet, and hopefully have one or two additions in before we play West Ham in 2 weeks. Lack of goals in recent weeks is definitely a concern though.
  20. Definitely more of an even match since all the subs came on.
  21. Killing momentum. Although to be fair, we do our fair share of that.
