He was actually a decent shot stopper, unfortunately most shots he saved were palmed directly in to danger, flapped at most crosses and never looked comfortable, and it took him ages to get any proper stick from the fans, just another dud unfortunately and at least hes off the wage bill.

I know Rafa likes his rotation, but the only position he played Gouffran in last season was LW, and hes already signed Atsu to play there too, so is it a case of them two fighting it out for that spot, I'd be seriously worried if that's the case as we know one certainly isn't good enough, and the other looked average half the time in the championship too. Early days but concerning, its a gonna be a massive disappointment if both him and Colback are in the squad when the season starts.

In terms of the goalkeeper I think we would be alright on what we have if we can't make a deal for a new one, granted we could do better but between Darlow, Elliot and maybe Krul we would have enough to see us through without any disasters. In terms of the Semedo deal was there actually any solid evidence we were that close?

If we're going to be putting the money to a top drawer striker then I wouldn't be that bothered to see him go, though I do like him and rate him and think there's more to come.

He was an absolute gem to have in the team when he was at his best, and seemed to have been very popular in the dressing room too, awful news, RIP Cheick.

Playing devils advocate here but didn't Rafa have an interview on the beeb website about having to manage expectations a while back? I agree though the we expect this we expect that bollocks is tedious.
