Paulo Di Canio is a fascist. He's a pretty good fascist too, untill he joins Sunderland and can't be a fascist any more. Then he meets a good looking woman who talks him into being a better fascist.

  2. Its a hypothetical pet hate but while our game was on I couldn't help but think if an 'England Hero' played for Benfica (specifically Gerrard) then commentators would probably be cheering on that team as opposed to ours.

A strange thought that made me angry.

You hate your own hypothetical, as yet unproven pet hate....

    Brilliant, i'm liking this

It's hard to argue with it though.

  4. How good are Benfica at setting up behind the ball?

Will they even look to do that in the 2nd leg?

We're not dead and buried yet,2-0 home win is very possible in any game.

Even if we get battered with possesion/time wasting all we need is a pen/Cabaye set piece/O.G and it's game on.

    Don´t expect that...

Newcaslte will have to run after the score, you'll have to play more open. And Benfica usually scores every match.

I don´t wanna sound arrogant... but my 1ºst impression of Newcastle is that if we speed up and press we score.

This. We have really struggled with teams pressing us this season. Your lot were very good at this high up the pitch and it caused us a lot of problems.

  5. Absolutely shameful that - sorry, there's nothing else to say about it, it was deplorable. Yes he was being pressed, but that was bad vision and bad decision-making.

I like the guy but he's got some serious growing up to do. It was amateurish but also reeked of inexperience.

Stupid fucking mistake but many many experienced pros have been guilty of similar. One of those things.

  6. From what I've read about his approach to football he prefers to play a traditional 442 and is big on discipline above all else. Doesn't sound like a modern day football manager capable of managing a top flight side at all. I can't wait to see how his millionaire prima donnas will react to his management style, and in turn how their board and owner will react once they realise a number of their high earners are completely overlooked while they run down their contract/sold for a huge loss. I would love to know what Short's thinking was behind this appointment.

I can easily see him keeping them up this season. That being said I think anybody would have kept them up just about. Can understand why Short got so nervous and you get to name your own terms when you deal with the recently unemployed manager of Swindon.

I could see this being the catalyst that leads to their relegation next season.

Sunderland Council has just agreed £7,000 of taxpayers' money for the Tyne and Wear Anti-Fascist Association. We can't have it both ways.

Great use of Taxpayers money given the funding difficulties Councils have.
