You may not have noticed but players who have come to us with a mackem connection always seem to get better treatment from us than anybody with a connection to us gets from a lot of your fans. I genuinely don't see it. Aren't Johnson and Colback both Newcastle fans? As long as the stuff on the pitch is right then I doubt anyone cares. You don't see it..? Were you alive when Venison and Bracewell were in our promotion side and welcomed from Day 1..? We also had Montgomery as GK coach for a few years, and if you go back to the 80s there was Alan Brown on loan who was very popular and Joe Harvey signed Stan Anderson in the 60s... Incidentally nearly ALL of these players thought NUFC was a better club because of the fans.... They all said that they thought NUFC was the better club? I wasn't alive at that point but could you point me in the direction of any quotes or something similar from that time when any of those players said that? If they did I'd be surprised. As I've said I've got nothing against any ex-Newcastle player joining Sunderland. So long as they do the business on the pitch.

I know it's not all mackem fans so I'm not tarring you all with it. Some of your lot seem to hate us more than they like your own team, I honestly heard some mackem fans before the derby saying they would rather beat us than stay up and that's madness. The fans you refer to should hang their heads in shame imo. I enjoyed the derby results a lot but would have happily taken two pastings if it meant staying up after the start we had. (Contradictory I know as the results of the two games reversed and we'd still be bottom now)

Clark was never turned on by the crowd when playing poorly. He rarely did from what I can remember. The hatred started after he wore a t-shirt with Sad Mackem Bastards written on it iirc (I was eleven at the time). Even Chopra I don't recall being turned on until after he left and started giving it the big one on twitter and the like
-
I'll raise you Bruce, Clark and Chopra. Against that Paul Bracewell, Barry Venison, Alan Brown, Michael Bridges and Jeff Clarke. Not one of those ex mackems were given the slightest bit of stick, even when they were finished and playing poorly. Fair enough

I had nothing much against Bruce. He had to go when he had to go. It's what happened afterwards that made me turn. All the stuff in the press about how he wasn't given a chance because he was a Geordie etc. The bloke conveniently forgot that two of our best players had been sold and been replaced with the distinctly average (his doing) and on the pitch we had turned to shit and would probably have gone down under him. The man is a complete tool.

I think we got him at 22. He broke into Boros side when quite young.
-
he's proving himself a very good player now this lad like, hope they don't manage to sign him That's going to be our biggest problem to be fair. Ki, Borini and Alonso are all proving to be big assets for us. And are going to take some replacing in the summer. I think a deal is in place to buy Alonso though not sure how much for. Rodgers has already said Borini won't be sold and I don't know what happened with Ki and Laudrup but if Swansea let him go permanently then there'll be teams with more money than us in for him. Then again he looks like he's enjoying himself here just depends if we want to pay for him.

Feels pretty good at the moment I think you're approaching what's technically known as the wireside line. Don't cross it, you've been decent value thus far tbf. Ok I'll stop. Sorry lads I know how it feels.

Feels pretty good at the moment Just climaxed into your sister? Don't have a sister.

f*** off Marra. Expected

I love today Sorry lads
-
At a guess Mannone Bardsley - O'Shea - Brown - Alonso Bridcutt Larsson - Ki Johnson - Altidore - Borini Subs: Ustari, Celustka, Vergini, Colback, Cattermole, Scocco, Fletcher.
-
Good morning and Happy Derby Day everyone. Good luck with the game. Hope we hammer you. If we lose I may be back on here tonight for a Masterplan style meltdown. Don't miss out.
-
I've just been told it's us as a replacement for Cattermole
-
Same rumours here. Northumbria police. I'll say no more.

Are they over confident though? You would (as a mackem fan) hope they wouldn't be. They've beat us the last two times. They have got to a cup final and are starting to put in some decent league performances to get out of the relegation zone.. We've just lost our best player and are missing some other key people. I'd think they would be confident going into this, though I don't know any Sunderland fans to say for sure. Usually it doesn't take much for them to get over confident about their chances. I'm still not confident
-
not enough leg breaking in the side What he said
-
The level of confidence on here is a lot less than I expected. Although I can understand it what with recent events. Last time we were this confident going into a derby we got well and truly humped. I'm crapping myself that something similar might happen this time around.
-
I at least expected one question about whether or not it's ok to burn a boat
-
I think I've changed your perception of Mackems a bit on here. This lad hasn't been given the same grilling I got when I first joined. Your standards are slipping lads

Bloody hell, I was going to hang around for a bit and get to know the place, you lot are quick If you read my intro on my first post you'll see I'm here to contribute, not agitate, I'll leave that to the puerile knackers who seem to infest internet forums. Hopefully I'll add a different, but probably not objective, angle to many of the discussions on here. If anyone wants a ding dong, then I'm sorry but I'm not your man You'll have to look elsewhere. I'm sure there are plenty of idiots from my side of the divide who pop up on here with the sole intention of winding you up, and we have them on the Sunderland forums too. That's not why I'm here, and you'll see in time. I'll try and keep my posts restricted to this thread, but I may dip into others from time to time. Oh, and I'll post after the derby regardless of the result ! Hi there, I'm hithere Welcome to Newcastle Online.
