"Proved last year that we're more than capable of staying in this league. Took a long time for the lads to get used to a more attacking approach but I think you'll see those improvement just from the stats. Delighted that we've tied down big Andy and Ritchie to new deals and also convinced young Matty that we're positively going to attempt to stay in this league. This is a solid set of lads, their spirit is the best I've seen in all my years of management. Would I like to add a couple of names? Of course, which manager wouldn't, but I won't be too worried going into this season with this great squad" I genuinely hope this isn't a real quote. Tragic thing is that its totally believable, and makes us sound like a 'plucky championship team' who fluked their way through the playoffs for promotion and stayed up with a last minute deflection on the last day of the season. Last season was grim, this one is going to be like being one of Jigsaws victims

Confirmed for Gladbach next season

I don’t think she even knows what her next move is. The Saudis are out, no question about that. Does she come back with another consortium? By all accounts it took nearly 2 years to get this bid in place She's probably more concerned about whether she's going to get 1.5bn from Barclays than us at the minute

Intertoto worked great for us as it was a competitive preseason and helped our season massively

Looks like he's lost his motivation for the game now, so if he goes anywhere it'll be China or MLS, maybe his local Argentine team. Don't see him having the desire for any other team What a ridiculous accusation, typical lazy response. Hardly. He's been at Barcelona so long do you really see him going anywhere unless it's for love or money. He's done every challenge going so doesn't need to prove anything, so that means going home to his team, or going somewhere for even more money than he already gets, or just enjoying his last few years without pressure

Couldn't have asked for a kinder draw till City.ffs

Shearer would have cost more than Joelinton in the current market Shearer would cost more than Neymar and MBappe in current market World record fee for a striker in their prime...would be looking at 250-300m.

Classic old-style centreforward play. We won't see his like again. Always gets neglected how good his passing and crossing was too. Could have got another 50 if he was on the end of his own crosses Bar injuries - he would have broken 300 PL goals I reckon and chased down Jimmy Greaves' record. Always a maybe, but considering he missed pretty much two full seasonsthrough injury, and a while with Gullit, being in a bad team for most of it it's not an unreasonable claim. If he had gone to Man Utd instead of us, could have easily seen 400 given the respective paths of the teams in that time. How terrifying would Shearer and Van Nistelrooy been

There's no good news, just bad news and irrelevant news

Generally only one decent one at a time though.

We're England and we play 442. None of that fancy foreign s***t

What has he said that has actually been true that couldn't be achieved through guesswork? Doesnt really matter if he was just guessing though does it? At the end of the day that is all that anyone of has been doing. And are continuing to do. We are all basing our logic on scraps of information and our own personal bias of how we feel this will go. It kind of does if it's been presented as actual knowledge. Christ i could have guessed half the stuff he came out with, and all i know is what goes on here

Cos he chanced his way through most of a season sponsoring an F1 Team, while never actually giving them a penny, and his product is so obscure I'd be willing to bet you've not seen it in any mainstream shop of any description.

Out of interest who has an opinion of what the next striker trend will be. 80/90 was generally 2 up front big man little man combo, then 00/10/20 single guy supported by to wide forwards(pretty much a Mourinho creation) Can see it going to 3 out and out strikers when a decent team has some success with it
-
Probably what made him one of the best. Plenty good strikers go crap when they lose a bit of pace and don't try to change...for all his faults even Owen tried to change to fit Keegan's system, just didn't have the desire to see it through

Hey they're on the map Just like Pennywell, Hilton, and Roker

https://www.planetfootball.com/nostalgia/lee-dixon-on-alan-shearers-dark-arts-i-thought-im-not-going-near-him/ Who's the closest in modern times? Can't think of a single player who could do the long range stuff, tap-ins, free kicks, headers, and assists while being a leader and terrify defenders at the same time. Kane at a stretch, but don't remember him getting too many spectacular ones like Shearer had C. Ronaldo at a push, but he was never a great leader and always about himself.

This...it's the intangibles they'd get back through better reputation and perception. Qatar did the same with PSG. Really doubt Qatar have made any money directly, from them, but they've got a hell of a lot more companies looking to invest with them now than they did when they were just sitting in the desert digging up oil

It will absolutely have an effect, like the thread states, things like this effect future commercial deals. A company can easily say we aren't prepared to give you as much money as last time because your (PL) brand has been negatively effected and we're unsure about being associated with that. That hits the PL hard and I'm sure masters would not want to be getting phonecalls from the commercial director asking what the fuck is going on. Even so, they can't be seen to passing this purely based on fans tweeting corruption messages. I think they're just finding a water-tight reason to fail it now (or at least say why it would fail if PIF hadn't withdrawn) Still think they're just going to blank it till it goes away. Obviously feeling some pressure due to the Sky Twitter stuff, but that's not a direct acknowledgement. All that says to me is they don't want people paying attention to it. For all the fan pressure, surely the consortium could put on a lot more pressure as that would be picked up by the whole media
