For the era he wasn't half bad. No superstar and the aggression certainly over shadowed his ability. Remove the tackling, testicle grabbing and general thuggery, id say he would be the 80s equivalent of someone like Mark Noble

I think you are being very optimistic if you believe we will get 4 or 5 quality transfers in. This structure is new, looks capable of getting sales done effectively, we've not seen how they deal with incoming. As for Hopkinson...theres nothing so far to suggest anything beyond hot air and soundbites. Yes theres been some impressive sounding speeches and press releases, but whats actually happened or achieved? Im sure theres been a lot of private background stuff, but here we are...an arguably weaker squad after selling the top scorer, no indication of incoming, a perpetually "imminent" stadium decision, no major sponsor, and to top it all a new kit that makes children want to vomit

Woltemade could go either way, Ramsey is debatable, but looks positive in general, Thiaw has been generally good, but has a bad tendency to concede penalties

Think there's some re-writing of Elliot's time with us. Most of the time he looked bang average and there was certainly no indication he would become as good as he has. Obviously there was the occasional spark (but even Longstaff had those), but most of the time he looked off the pace and would probably end up as a championship player. Fair does though, another team took a full on chance and played him regularly for full games and he developed into a competent player. I do think he gets a lot of gloss as he's local and a current International...but then given the randomness of Tuchel that doesnt really mean a lot

We had some class kits we hardly ever used compared to that green crap we use loads now. We only ever used away kits if there was a hint of a clash, but see that green crap more often than not now

For what we paid Schar has been an utter legend.yes there are better defenders, but when fit this guy is one of the best we've had in terms of reliability and consistency. Never spectacular, very rarely makes massive balls up ala bramble. Handsome bugger too
