  1. Because they are backwards looking. They know they can't ever win the league so protecting their position makes sense to them. If the shackles come off in the premier league a dominee affect might be created. Most clubs are owned by investors who are looking to make money for as little investment as possible.
  2. The proposed super league was to break away from Uefa. They would have continued to boss the premier league with the rules super league or not. And it doesn't beggar belief if your one of those other clubs and can't/unwilling to compete. It actually makes sense for them to take this position.
  3. 16 clubs voted for the status quo because they benefit from it. Most clubs aren't ambitious to the point of challenging the elite.
  4. Yeah this makes perfect sense 3 clubs outside of city with ambition to be more than these rules allow. If I have any low blood pressure I'll get myself over to reddit and read the red top fans gloat about how just these rules are.
  5. Still ruing the fact we didn't sell him when we had the chance.
  6. Absolutely economics will be the limiting factor for sure to an extent. Tickets can always be sold to third parties to sell or bundled with other purchases for instance.
  7. Possibly but of course if the PL and it's new rules are legally compliant then nothing is to be done.
  8. So because people aren't from or living in the area they are second class fans who aren't worthy of opinion ? Or opinions which count for less?
  9. As I've stated previously prices are going up regardless of weather we move or not. This is the trend both in football but in the wider entertainment industry. It's a given at this point. It's obvious at this point if we wish to compete we have to increase our revenue and a new stadium is the platform in which to do this. Maybe my brain power is used for the day but I'm not sure what other point your making here.
  10. Its a proper grim narrative, us and glory seeking are mutually exclusive at this stage
  11. No, they aren't at odds at all. It seems your post is based upon the notion prices won't increase to that point at SJP Especially as demand is so high and tickets are so limited. If anything prices should rocket at SJP due to this fact.
  12. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5935146/2024/11/21/eales-mitchell-stadium-newcastle/ A piece worth reading from Waugh believe it or not.
  13. Our firesale wasn't about giving us headroom, it was purely about bringing our ffp deficit down. We were way over and that's with the fantastic growth we experienced. Now imagine if Ashley hadn't been a tight a cunt and our revenue didn't grow. We wouldn't have been able to do anything Ffp/PSR is such a clever bit of manipulation I've got to admire it.
  14. You will find in the longrun all old buildings will eventually be knocked down mind, it's just a case of when and not if. Clubs move grounds all of the time obviously any increase in either regular seats or corporate will lead to higher income which will obviously help mind. We already have a stadium which isn't designed with acoustics in mind and is silent a lot of the time, as I said the stadium is an amplifier of the sound it doesn't create sounds in itself that's on the fans. You can't fix supply and demand with any ticketing system, we simply don't have the capacity to accommodate all of our fans which for me is a massive shame and I find it truly bizarre people are okay with enjoying a privilege whilst advocating locking others out of said privilege. I totally understand the apprehension of the unknown and obviously we can make better and more accurate judgements once any plans are unveiled.
  15. Remember it's a 3 year rolling period we've balanced to nothing over the last 12 months because we had to. And no our spending hasn't been crazy, but this is rules working as designed. We are plebs have been told to stay in our place.
  16. I wasn't alluding to fans no longer supporting us, it's more a question of fairness and custodianship. Why should younger fans get the short end of the stick of not enjoying the same privileges as other fans? What is the reason for this? Makes no sense to me at least. Your kind of looking at the finances from the wrong angle here, it's not about a return when it comes to premier league investments in a P&L sense it's all about the value of the club. According to Forbes City are worth 4b and the UAE have invested 1,7b so those people (not you btw) who claim they are wasting money terrible investment etc are clearly misguided. So back to the stadium, as we know the stadium is more than just a place we play our home games, it already holds multiple functions such as being our offices, boardroom etc and we know those facilities are also below par, I remember watching the video of the changing room when they "upgraded" and included a warm up area it was truly embarrassing. With regards to pricing ticket prices will be going up regardless as is the trend In the entire economy, no way of getting around it. I'd actually argue the potential for unsavoury behaviour from the club is increased at SJP as seating areas will be reconfigured and people will be moved to make way. Acoustics are simple and should be the heart of any design, that being said any atmosphere is created by the fans if they sit in silence for 90 mins then no amount of acoustic engineering will save it. If your building a new stadium things such as singing sections and safe standing sections can be baked in via the design process. Any additional capacity will obviously be a mix, and as Miller confirmed we can accommodate a lot more people at a new ground, I'm glad the club has come out on record and clarified this point personally but the official acknowledgement that being at SJP will/is holding us back is welcomed by myself. The history arguement is one which I must admit doesn't make sense to me, because the history doesn't change if we move, nothing which has gone changes we still have our fantastic memories and they can't be taken away. This is a discussion about the figure and not about the past and when you look at it through that Lens the perspective should shift accordingly because the choice is stark. The choice is stagnate in place which will eventually lead to our decline and inability to compete OR push forwards and fight to compete at the highest level with best in class facilities.
  17. For sure, you aren't the only one either. I think it's an issue which is bigger than any individual fan. It's literally the future of the club and a chance to define who we want to be going into the next 125 years. I understand the tradition and people struggling to let go but for me we have to move forward and embrace our potential, if we miss this opportunity we will be kicking ourselves in the future I'm sure of it.
  18. I'm not sure what your point is here tbh? SJP doesn't have the capacity or future capacity to accommodate everyone who wants to attend I think this is something we can all agree on. So we are left with, locking people out indefinitely or trying to accommodate them. The fact this may also potential help our PSR situation is a bonus. Prices for entertainment in any forn will increase football is no different, this is the society we live in I'm afraid.
  19. I mean regardless of PSR we have a situation whereby a lot of fans are locked out and our fanbase isn't being renewed due to this. The goal should be a stadium which can accommodate everyone regardless of where they are from.
  20. You mean to knock down the exiting stadium and rebuild and play somewhere else whilst this occurs? I can get behind that personally as long as we can get all that money we'd be leaving on the table by not building a new stadium elsewhere.
  21. No, of course not but this isn't about guarantees. It's about giving ourselves the best chance to compete with the best on a consistent basis. We want to be able to keep our best players and build upon them and not be forced to sell because we hit a glass ceiling. It's a litmus test for our ambition.
  22. Spurs have zero PSR issues despite spending a record amount this summer. The new stadium has actually made them relevant and put them on course to actually compete. You will be able to find anyone complaining about any subject if you look mind.
