Strikers on the bench > Strikers on the pitch
-
If we could get Shola to drop a bit deeper and be the link man i wouldn't be so down on him starting today personally.
Shola seems intent on being the furthest forward no matter who he plays with which makes no sense considering Cisse is the one with the superior finishing skills.
-
Sure I read somewhere the game is on Absolute Radio.
According to .com it is.
-
Looking at the positives at least we wont see Shola coming on when we need a goal
Every cloud has a silver lining.
-
Pardew's said he'll let Shola go if we get someone in. Could well be both and shipping Shola out, at least on loan, on Monday.
I think If Kinnear did so much in one day he'd have a heart attack.
-
That Fulham team is poor until Ruiz, Berbatov and Bent
Speaking of Berba I can't believe we didn't go for him when Fulham did.
-
Not in the press but a Steward has just said that all the talk upstairs is that we've signed Gomis and Ba is coming back.
Would love this personally, but hasn't it been said it's one or the other not both?
-
Our lack of transfer activity is a f***ing joke but I'd love for someone to claim there's not enough talent in today's squad for the manager to get performances out of them.
Someone will Dave... Someone will.

£14m after last season is probably on the high side. I think £20m is pie in the sky stuff but I still would have set that as my asking price.
Wonder if there is any truth to us demanding a sell-on clause and a further few million over the next 2 years.
I disagree totally Jordan Henderson was 20 million before this new TV deal.
Yes Cabaye wasn't at his best last season but nor was any other player.
Why some of our fans are happy to see him sold on the cheap is beyond me
Henderson isn't as bad as some on here make out. Nowhere near being worth £20m but he's English and Dalglish bought him so that explains that.
Yes I agree with you, but we aren't in a position where we have to sell. Their Is no need for any sort of fire sale.
I think if you look historically when a premier league club is buying a top player from another premier league club the fee Is always high and in current market 14million is not a high fee.
Wigan want more than that for McCarthy
-
Do we need to buy or is it cheaper to ditch Pardew and run with a new manager.
Cheaper to ditch Pardew imo.
We have a mid table squad as we currently stand

7 games for Pardew to be judged on. Could be gone by Halloween if it goes badly, and would have NO excuses about the quality of opposition.
W1 D1 L0
If we continue to perform in the same manner as the first 2 games in your list, then there will be more "L's" than Welsh Scrabble. I would have thought that you would've seen beyond results. Nothing has changed, yet.
Apart from the style of play - fundamentally - which takes time.
Really? Unless selecting Shola regularly is a fundamental change to our style. We played a bit of deck football second half against a league 2 side the other night, after being second best first half . Nothing has changed. It is still negative, worry about the opposition instead of bigging up your own team style that we saw the whole of the last season, give or take a game.
And if you are right, why didn't he use pre-season to change the style, if as you say it takes time?
Tactics are supposed to be fluid & the stream of tactical evolution is a constant flow - Pardew is no genius but he seen a problem on Wednesday & he fixed it with his substitutions & generally in pre season & against West Ham we weren't aimlessly lumping it. In addition though - pre season is mainly about fitness.
Long ball has it's uses mind - there's nothing wrong with it if it's working.
Why do you think Shola gets a game, ahead of all of the world class strikers Uncal Miikkee bought Pardew?
A lack of long ball isn't going to fix our problems, we don't tend to play much of that under Pardew recently, certainly not by design as far as I can tell. The long ball is a consequence of our lack of movement, a lack of movement which is specifically requested by Pardew in order to 'keep it tight'. As long as he prioritises that over scoring goals, we're going nowhere.
I think It is partly be design after all every single set piece we get in our own half we lump forward.
Also if our keeper has the ball 90% of the time it goes long without any attempt to play out from the back
I was more referring to open play, but yeah there's no hiding from the deep dark abyss that is our range of set penises.
Aka giving the ball back to the opposition without them needing to make an effort
-
The Times today claiming he is very close to signing for Arsenal. I hope Arsenal are grateful that we're keeping a good relationship with them (by not selling to PSG instead) and give us a first dibs on their best youngsters like maybe Frimpong on loan.
They are quoting a fee of 14 million. Seems on the low side to me

So is it fair to say that the first 12 post match pages will be along the lines of :-
If we lose - Pardew is an even bigger c*** than he was yesterday.
If we win - Fulham were s**** anyway.
If we draw - a combination of both those things.
Depends what happens during match, mate.
Nah not the pardew H8RS.
I think even the Pardew doubters, In which I include myself want the team to play well and win.
People are critical of the man with good reason for the most part. It's up to everyone to filter out what they feel as unjust criticism.

I think if we win and actually deserve to win then everyone will be happy no?

@milesstarforth
No #nufc bid for Florian Thauvin – yet.
Thank god for that, we came close to potentially spending money there.
The "Yet" makes it sound like we are going to bid.
Which makes me wonder why wait?
Got to monitor for a bit longer. Wait for Bale to sign on the dotted line, then...THEN we can make our move.
How could i forget? Bale, Rooney and Suarez haven't moved yet.
Silly me.

Eriksen in probably means Sigurðsson out either this window or the next. We should be in for him as Cabaye is leaving.
Germany is the rumour. Not his greatest fan but he scores goals which is almost unheard of in our midfield
Couldn't agree with this more.
-
In regard to Thauvin, why wait until now. Just a joke really.
Is this another Nzogbia bid i wonder?
Last minute bid to appease pressure from the fans. It's interesting it leaks out the night before the Fulham game too.
-
Gomis ideally would like to go to OM. Thauvin also wants to stay in France. It just seems strange that we are pursuing these guys unless there is concrete evidence that either is really serious about coming here.
It's hard to know what to believe though.
Most of the news we get comes via these unnamed sources.

@ChronicleNUFC: Newcastle United scouting for Florian Thauvin http://t.co/4YKD7r1cAa #NUFC
Scouting FFS with three days left
He'd have to be playing for us to scout him, like. Lee Ryder suddenly becomes a credible journalist when it's a negative story.
In fairness, It'd make sense for the club to leak the story of him being scouted to keep other interested parties away.

You all know Mike's Logic.
Buy in January it'll be cheaper!
