A lukaku / benteke would have been a better option for them IMHO Not a chance - they're trying to play a style of passing fluent football. A powerhouse striker doesn't really fit into that plan. Sure it does, it means them wingers they have will have a target up front to cross to. It also means they can vary their game and be more direct when needed and counter attack with pace. That was one of the first things that impressed me about Williamson when he joined us in the championship. If only he could play football. So basically we need a CB who can organise the defence. I hope JFK Is on the job /s

He doesn't really poach though. If anything he provides a lot more to build-up play than to being a goal threat. Which Defoe can't really do at all. His link up play is about par for the course for the level they are aiming for. Nothing special imo I think having a striker like him creates a bit of a 1 dimensional side
