My post wasn’t specifically about Emery. I’m not bothered about not getting him. Was just talking about different types of managers. For the record, I want Howe to stay, no question. But I fear relegation.

Yes, I agree. The problem is we don’t have much time this season. I’m not up for the Championship.

And what we really needed this season, in our situation, was of course a results-orientated manager, a Rafa-type, an Emery, who also became our top target. Howe may show to be a great long-term choice and I like him, but he’s not an ideal manager in our current situation.

Yes, I think they’re different managers in that way. Howe is more of an ideologist, a teacher if you like, while Rafa is pragmatic and focused on getting maximum results from the material at his disposal.
