    Next season

I think Longstaff got one which is concerning. Behind that I don't remember my dreams very well

    Next season

Had a dream last night that we beat Bournemouth 9-1 on the opening day of the season so anything less than that and I'll be disappointed.

    Nick Pope

From the BBC. Definitely going to need a replacement.

GK (Pope or new) Livramento Botman New CB Hall Joelinton Bruno Tonali Gordon Isak New RW Give us a clean run in terms of injuries and that team should be around the top 4 next season I think as a minimum expectation. Especially as the other teams have Europe to deal with and changes in terms of managers.
  5. I mean we all joke but if Man Utd win today then Froggy is perma banned from the forum yeah?
  6. Is this what we really want the Championship to turn into though? Somewhere for managers to prove themselves by getting a team promoted and then jumping ship for a better job?
  7. I think there's almost zero chance Howe goes anywhere if offered. He's landed on his feet here and is in the middle of building something. If his name does get linked anywhere we don't have to worry.

Can they not find a better place to take the photo? The training centre looks so shit
  9. Expected points from understat, I know, I know, he has them 4th. Very narrowly ahead of us in 5th. In some ways the recent run of form is just dragging them closer to where they should be. Given he was basically given a group of players bought with no pattern behind it I think he's done well.
  10. Chelsea getting rid of Poch would be utterly insane. He's surely at least met if not exceeded expectations? The days of spending money automatically meaning you're challenging for the title are long gone.
  11. Potter had them on an upward trajectory. A nice position to join a team in.

Cf's plan to reduce how much VAR slows down the game: Instead of two halves to a match instead have four 15 minute halves with a 5 minute break after each so we can watch some adverts. During each half VAR will review the various decisions as we go along with a view to correcting them at the end of the half. Goals wrongly awarded or not are taken/added as appropriate. Any penalties that should have been given are given now. Any penalties that were wrongly given are balanced by giving a penalty to the other side. Same idea with red cards. If a player was wrongly sent off they're allowed back on and the other team have to lose a player in the same position for the same amount of time in the next half. If someone wasn't sent off when they should have been then they're sent off and also they have to lose another player for the amount of time the other player was on the pitch that shouldn't have been. If this happens in the last half then the other team can request another half to the game and this process continues until no-one has been sent off in the last half. This will be the game in 10 years time.

    Kieran Trippier

Going forward players generally shouldn't be finishing their careers with us. There might be one or two exceptions but most players will have a couple of years at the end of their careers where they can play at a lower level but are no longer good enough for the level we want to be at. Trippier has reached that point. He'd be good backup for Livramento but i'd rather we got someone younger in to fill that role and cash in while we can. He gets to go with his head held high. He's been one of the clubs most important signings ever.

It's been said before but just to say it again for those saying "VAR isn't the problem - it's the people running it"... VAR is the people running it.

How fast is this automated offside tech?

And this to me is one of the fundamental issues. As a fan it's a lot easier to forgive missing something in real time - it's basically just part of the game. But it's much harder to forgive when they are re-refereeing it and still getting it wrong.

NUFC should be challenging for the CL next season, and assuming we beat them tomorrow MUFC probably won't even be in Europe. MUFC could be looking at a long time outside the top 4 places. The league has got much more competitive in the top positions. We've just about broken our way in and you have Villa knocking at the door too (let's see how their sophomore year goes). Spending money obviously helps, and they can spend a lot of it, but it's not the guarantee of success it once was. And of course their track record in this regard is awful. In short I agree with you. If as a player you are motivated by improving yourself and winning things you'll be more likely to get that with us than with Man Utd. If you'd rather take the silly wages they'll give you then I can't really argue against that either.
  19. Murphy goes through cycles of putting a few decent performances in making you think there's a player there before then reminding you he isn't at this level. See also Almiron.

A sensor attached to each players crotch. That's basically the centre of gravity and defines your position on the pitch.

I still reckon make offside based on where the feet are. None of this checking if a player is leaning forwards (of course they are - they're attacking) or if their armpit or arse is offside nonsense. As for last night assuming they operate to the same play on rule as we do in the PL it was an awful call. Was really tight in the first place and was really high up the pitch with a goal scoring chance. Reminded me of Isak vs Liverpool.

I remember that clip of a pub that fell silent when we got Benitez in and he was speaking on the TV.
