Some people seem weirdly keen to say that Eddie has been out-thought, outdone or whatever every time we lose. Since last season, some people seem to have trouble accepting that sometimes we will lose some games and it can be down to something simple like having loads of injuries. Always has to be some nonsense about us being 'found out' or 'out of our depth'. At full strength and with a bit of luck, these 2 games would have been so different.

Every time we go 15 minutes without scoring you'll get a few on here saying we're bad or second best. -
Newcastle United 0-1 Borussia Dortmund (25/10/23)

Big positive is that we look more than capable at this level, wasn't sure if we would before the group started and the Milan game didn't help. Big negative is that we're 3rd having played 2 home games. I'd say a win away to Dortmund or PSG or at least 2 draws is now essential. Very tough, but we've showed enough to believe we can do it. -

Sheffield United Vs Newcastle United 24/09/23 @ 16:30 (Sky Sports)

Bit nervous about this one. Sheff U deserve more points than what they've got. I fancy us to keep a clean sheet though. -
I have to say I didn't think there was an awful lot wrong tactically tonight. When we weren't making daft mistakes and stupid decisions (nerves?), we were toe to toe with them. Sure we need to play better, but this is a fantastic result.

Run out of words to describe this man.

We may be the only team to get relegated for being crap rather than bent.

Win and it's lift off, lose and I'm scared. -
Seems to be worse than ever this season but I hate how people are reading so much into the first 4 games of a season. Already I've seen people say: - Spurs to get top 4 (all Spurs managers start well) - Ward Prowse for the England squad (after 2 good games) - Burnley to go down (after Kompany was considered a genius until a month ago) - Liverpool to challenge for the title (nobody thought this a month ago)
-
I'm confident that the last 3 games will be the equivalent of the Liverpool, Man Utd (cup final), City games last season. Eddie to mix things up and give them a kick up the backside and we'll make the most of the more winnable fixtures coming up.

Absolutely gutted his goal counts for nothing. Would have been a beautiful moment for the lad. What's clear though is that we've knocked the Everton out of him and he's starting to look like a real player.

No serious damage to the ankle according to Hope.

- cup final performance was disappointing but in line with the way we playing during a poor run of form - we lost twice away to Sky 6 and were not bad in either game. - we were by far the better side in the first leg and had a goal disallowed for no reason, 2nd leg was wrapped up early - you admit we played well in 4/6 homes game v Sky 6 - Villa game was probably the biggest occasion so far and we battered a good team

Unless you predicted that we'd stay up comfortably in 22 and get 4th in 23, don't bother saying he's not elite or he's taken us as far as he can. He's a relatively young manager who has a record of defying the odds, just enjoy the ride and stop stressing out about it. I have no idea how good Eddie can be but see no reason why he can't keep on surprising people.

Apart from all those times we won big games.

He had a bad day (as well as loads of our players) but anyone who is even questioning his position after he literally qualified us for the champions league a few months ago should be ashamed. Hopefully a few of these messages will be deleted when the emotion/alcohol wears off a bit.

I always think the best draw for England at major tournaments is 1 good team (for the occassion and to keep us on our toes) and 2 very beatable teams. I want the same in the CL. One point I would make just because it needs to be emphasized imo is that even the easiest possible group would contain 3 teams with vastly more experience in Europe than us.
-
Champions League should be a huge knockout tournament featuring every European champion as well as top 2 from decent leagues, top 3 from good leagues, top 4 from best leagues. Maybe can have a group stage after a couple of rounds if UEFA insists on playing a ridiculous number of games. I find it ridiculous that champions of fairly respectable leagues such as Denmark and Turkey have to go through 3 qualifying rounds at the moment, so just stick everyone in at Round 1. Don't care if Lincoln Red Imps v Real Madrid will be a mismatch, they allow similar fixtures in internationals.

Surely there should be no appeals these days if the ref and VAR have made the decision. Any time there is a successful appeal, the VAR team needs to be sent to ref in the EFL for a month. -
I try to remind myself they're only human and I always advocate treating refs with respect, but fuck me they piss me off so much.

Weirdly, every Chelsea fan has convinced themself he's the best midfielder in the world.

Hopefully we can win and I can go at least 1 week without hearing "Villa are my dark horse this season".
