  1. Are we not just going to follow the French
  2. The massive mistakes over and over spring to mind. Repeatedly being advised by none footballing people. Graham Carr bargain signing policy, buy low sell high, age cap nobody over 26. Wearing a Nufc shirt and drinking with the fans when he is the owner and not a real fan. The appointment of Pardew stands out the most, but the irony is although it was a torrid, torrid time, it was Ashley's highest ever league finish. I'd say better times were Chris Hughton winning the championship and unearthing some fresh faces along the way, and equally Raffa winning the championship and bringing stability back to the club. So looking back the best times under Ashley were the relegated moments, because they were times we had managers here who I admired. I've ended up somehow looking at the positives under Ashley it seems here, but there were so many negatives and piss poor mistakes. The blokes a total waster, at the end of the day he should never have purchased us.
  3. If we're talking future players. I'd break the bank now to sign Reece James, he looks like he's gonna progress to be a top player.
  4. Doucoure is good shout because I remember Man City's first step was to buy their rivals' best players (Lescott, Barry, Santa Cruz, Given etc). Until we can attract the elite, let's go for Doucoure, Ruben Neves, Chilwell etc. Not Grealish though because he seems like a twat. An example of what happened re:Lescott, http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_city/8216645.stm There you have City going out to get a top English centre back at the time. So in today's market are some of us actually claiming we will be able to look at the England centre backs, let's say Gomes and Stones? City signed plenty of stars and a handful of England internationals Lescott,Bridge,Barry,Johnson, I cant see us emulating that. It will be impossible to sign four current England internationals plus the likes of Kolo Toure,Teves,Kompany, Vieira,Zabaleta. I don't believe we will be able to sign the equivalent English internationals in the current football climate. If we can, give me four names.(Of the equivalent of the four city signed)
  5. while I agree with the sentiment of being sensible and our approach of them having to be of a certain age to sign was wrong and did hurt us. We no longer have to settle or wheel and deal to the extent we once did and while yes there may be some players there that could " do a job" we want to get players the manager wants for the short/medium/long term and if none of those are on that free list I dont think thats a bad thing. Have you seen who's available. We will not be just going and buying anyone, if they're under contract and the club in question don't wish to sell it won't happen. Plus players perhaps will not wish to move here until there's some proven success, it didn't happen overnight for Man City or Chelsea, plus they had a much more lenient ffp at the time. Now things are stricter and we will be under the microscope based on what we do and how we go about it, as soon as you step out of line Chelsea transfer ban, City champions league ban, will start lodging complaints. I think looking at some of those top players available in the current season, and what could be nabbed in 2021 it's a good business avenue. I hear you though, almost like Rafa Benitez was already in the hot seat in your mind, and he would be choosing the right players for his style, he has worked with the likes of Willian,Mertens, though??
  6. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/statistik/endendevertraege I'd be looking in the expiring contract market, some immense players on the wrong side of 30s but miles better than what we currently have, bigger sign on fees instead of over inflated transfer prices and competitive salary, perhaps for some of these guys it will be their last moves and what better time to get involved in a new project.(Potentially leading to club jobs after) And the following 2021 contract expiring players list is even better should they not agree new deals with their current clubs.
  7. Update: Takeover claim: no change yet Monday morning brought a further flood of optimism from Newcastle fans that Mike Ashley's Toon tenure will soon be ended, following publication of a "deal done" story in the Times newspaper. Upon closer inspection however, that report is a rehash of last week's claims, that a consortium comprising PIF aka the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (80%), Amanda Staveley (10%) and David & Simon Reuben (10%) have agreed a £300m purchase of the club. Non-disclosure agreements presumably mean that neither the seller nor the prospective purchasers can make any formal announcement - documentation lodged at Companies House confirmation of a contractual relationship between Staveley and NUFC, but giving an incomplete picture of the mooted sale. It's evident though that as was the case previously, the Staveley camp - or those claiming to be in the know - have briefed that a deposit has been paid, both parties have signed off on the deal and that the Premier League are currently conducting ownership tests. Those tests include not only a viability measure of the purchasing parties but also checks on key personnel, including the prospective Chairman, widely tipped to be PIF Governor, Yasir Al-Rumayyan. Caution remains the watchword here though: we may never have been closer to seeing a change of ownership, but it's premature to say it's done - and that Ashley has completely severed his connections with NUFC and SJP. And as for the ramifications of becoming part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's global empire, we'll worry about that when we sober up. Love the guys at Nufc.com they always seem to post or update their site with sensible content, they're nothing like Ryder or the Chron goons, or nufc360 in terms of desperation to get something out there. I tend to feel when it's on their site its probably when it is concrete.
  8. No English manager has ever won the premier league. The two closest English managers were Ron Atkinson when the premier began in 1992. Runner up. And our very own king Kev runner up on two occasions. No, just once. Dalglish in -97. Yeah of course, he didn't finish the season.?? I'm pretty sure he would have got to the 68 points Dalglish managed to finish most of what Kev started.
  9. No English manager has ever won the premier league. The two closest English managers were Ron Atkinson when the premier began in 1992. Runner up. And our very own king Kev runner up on two occasions. The early premier league years were full of many managers from the UK but that soon changed and we are where we are today because foreign players are perhaps managed better by foreign coaches. Who knows?
  10. Keep thinking about who would be a good fit, and although the obvious is Rafa, I have also been thinking about Poch's time with Southampton, I had it in my head it was him that teansformed Southampton with some superb buys, but in actual fact it was Ronald Koeman, Koeman led them to their highest league finish, Signed many players that were superb and have gone on to become stars today. Koeman's business while at Southampton was very good. Probably wouldn't be many fans choice, but I think in my head I was crediting Poch with what Koeman actually did after Poch had left.
  11. Nearly posted the same thing, quality.
  12. https://twitter.com/tr_efc/status/1251152994025893888 Love the comment right at the end where this soft cunt contradicts it all by saying it's the best day out of the season coming to Newcastle. https://twitter.com/tr_efc/status/1251163600716062725 Utter prick
  13. Jamie Redknapp has been talking with Reubens. Why would he go on record and make a tit of himself for the sake of it. Relax man, I'm a right sceptical bastard, but with Ashley hemorrhaging money right now its gonna go through, the guy will be desperate.
  14. I didn't wanna do it, but its supposed to be light hearted fun thread right. https://twitter.com/TheFootballCor4/status/1250370265730580483
  15. In 10 years that's exactly what I'd expect. They have some project 2030 to fulfill
