  1. City, miles, miles fitter. Watch us in possession, I'll bet we don't keep the ball for more than 30 seconds before losing it.
  2. Gonna get destroyed if we dont put pressure on them. They lose possession and have it back in less than 10 seconds. Their pressing and fitness to be able to play that way makes sides look shit. If you cant exploit the pressing, then you're done for.
  3. No urgency from us, quite happy to drop off and let City do as they please.
  4. The reason City dominate is because firstly they are good at keeping the ball, but second they press you in numbers from the second they dont, sides need to try this on them or exploit them when they swarm. Its an obvious watch, but when your on the pitch as a player I'd imagine its fucking hard to see it like we do on tv.
  5. I have said this numerous times but will repeat it again for clarity. If Bruce wins us the FA cup I will happily admit I was wrong and declare him to be a living legend Newcastle manager. Because that is in fact what he would effectively be. Is that fair enough? You can quote me on this so bookmark this page. I'm not trying to catch anyone out here I did not want Steve Bruce here, I was astonished we payed Sheffield Wednesday to bring him here, albeit with a free player loan as a bargaining chip in terms of Jacob Murphy. But has he not pulled of the raggiest results of any manager in history, I only see today's opponents City as the biggest hurdle, the rest are beatable if we apply the right attitude and get the (luck) we/he keeps getting. Then I'm thinking surely that places Steve Bruce as our most successful manager? I did say daft question ??
  6. I understand what you have said here. I always think how Shearer talks highly of Bruce and how they're pals. With that in mind also, its blatantly obvious Shearer hates Ashley, so it makes me wonder is Bruce disingenuous? I would guess he's happy to be employed by anyone especially a top flight club, but I might think he may also have more loyalty to his ex pro's than Ashley, they're just who pay his wages. I reckon Bruce knows Ashley is a twat really,I think he's just playing the game.
  7. Got a daft question for all. If we beat Man City and went on to win the cup, what would be fans thoughts on Steve Bruce? Wouldn't he surely go down as our most prestigious manager in recent history considering our lack of winning anything in terms of recognisable trophies. If he achieves anything from 10th to 13th in the Prem (which looks a possibility) it's around our average position in terms of managers before him that have kept us up. And could the new owners sack a man who just won our first proper silverware in decades?
  8. Can see a 2 man midfield with Shelvey in it getting completely over ran. Hayden and hope one of the Longstaffs are fit is our only hope. I disagree, neither of them have played for ages and weren’t in very good form anyway. Shelvey looks sharp to me and grafted well since the restart. Looking here. I see Ritchie gets dropped, but in fairness he's been better than Joelinton and Almiron. I'm sure if anyone can pick Carroll out with a cross, it would be Ritchie over the other two.
  9. Do you think its buying the right players though? At the time Villa were making signings, they were coming through the door like one a day . It all seemed rushed and they were buying a new team that didn't know each other. They had better players in the championship on loan with Tuanzebe and Abraham. Sheffield seem to have been patient and savvy with their recruitment. Can you see them maintaining it and progressing? I think Sheff Utd will find it very tough next season. They might still drop to around 12-13th this season after everything and they’ve been poor since the restart. Momentum over? Possibly. What could happen is that Wilder will not be shown the respect if results slip. When you're on the up nothing really happens, but 4,5,6 defeats and you end up in the sack race pretty quick. I think wilder has to sign players that he can connect with, if they're signed over his head and he just has to work with them, then possibly problems start. He seems like the kind of bloke who takes no crap,if you wiki his history although not at the top level, he's started in the football wilderness and progressed to the top league.

  11. if you could take grealish and put him in an existing PL side that would compliment and improve him and that he would improve who would it be, spurs perhaps? I dont think he would guarantee games at one of the top four. Surprisingly I'd say Wolves but he wouldn't do the dirty on Villa. Or Man Utd, their midfield is shit. you think he's a CM? ACM/10 for me pulling the strings with runner off him...that's why i said spurs, could take the role eriksen vacated No I was saying midfield in general. I see him as a player who can cover a few roles in the midfield though. Hes been everywhere today dropping off, attacking, wide. I just think spurs still have good options and he wouldn't necessarily be a consistent starter. Man Utd he would suit playing off Rashford. i think that's what they've bought fernandes for really but yeah maybe, dunno just thought it was an interesting question cause everyone seems to rate him but i'm not personally sure what kind of team he'd thrive most in, i.e. counter-attack, possession etc. I'd forgotten about Bruno Fernandes. But yes, having better midfielders is a necessity for a club of Man Uniteds size. If Pogba leaves, and you look at their so called big names there isn't many.

Plus with spurs, Mourinho is a bit of a narcissist so it might start well but end badly for him.

  14. This Douglas Luiz is class. Noticed he stood out against us, breaks play up and passes the ball well. If these go down, he would be a great player to try and obtain.

    Joelinton

He's being asked to play a role that he's not really suited for. He's never going to be the big lad up top who makes the ball stick and brings others in. Bruce keep picking him and playing him up front is the problem. There it is. I'd actually like to see ASM, Almiron and Joelinton played behind Carroll (for want of anyone better). I think that could be quite a good combo. You've just done a Tory (Matt Hancock), and skirted around what was said, Joelinton keeping ASM or Almiron out? Not them three behind Carroll. Although that would be interesting.

    Joelinton

He's being asked to play a role that he's not really suited for. He's never going to be the big lad up top who makes the ball stick and brings others in. That aside, does he actually deserve to start every game regardless of position he should/shouldn't play, his contribution in all the minutes he's had doesn't reflect that from what I've seen. Is he immune from the bench? Would you get fucked off if you were a professional footballer sat on the bench watching him not deliver? The point you're making makes it even more frustrating for an actual striker sat on the bench then, if Joelinton shouldn't be playing that role, and you can see that, I'm pretty sure a pro footballer can. In another example, we drop ASM and start playing Joelinton in right or left inside forward, because a few people think from the Hoffenheim days hes a wing forward, now hes playing every game there and keeping ASM or Almiron out of the side, would people be moaning, 1 million percent they would. Basically wherever a player should/shouldn't be playing, if their is better placed players play them. I don't give a shit what his prefferd position is, id be looking at what he offers me, dont get me wrong, I've absolutely nothing against him, and I think Bruce keep picking him and playing him up front is the problem. But the message is wrong like I said in the other post, it just tells Joelinton no matter how you play, you'll be in the starting line up next week.

    Joelinton

The real problem we're having here is that everything is being made easy for Joelinton. When Gayle & Carroll came on especially Gayle, he looked annoyed, even with the goal he was fed up, reading his body language you might assume Gayle has had words about being behind a striker who isn't delivering? Why work your arse off back to fitness to sit behind a player who has played virtually every game and only managed 2 goals. Joelinton needs to spend time on the bench so he understands how to have desire and aggression to want to score and succeed as a player. If we continue to start him in every game no matter how he plays then its sending the wrong message. Obviously it boils down to Bruce and his relentless selection of the lad, but in fairness to the others it's not a good message and it will eventually piss players off that think they're worthy of playing. Another poster did mention Joleinton and ASM share the same agent, I'm beginning to wonder if the amount of games Joelinton has been getting is to do with us signing ASM with part of the deal was that Joelinton had to play all games when fit or something stupid like that? Possibly daft theory, but why would Joelinton get so many games when he's not performing.
  18. I guessing that the new owners can't actively negotiate contracts and deals, or atleast confirm them, until the takeover is officially complete. As if they agress a contract with Longstaff that is more then Ashley is willing to pay, and then the takeover gets rejected, Ashley is then forced to pay over the odds for a player he doesn't think is worth that amount. The easy way around that is for Longstaff to take the so called Ashley contract on a 2 year deal with it written in to negotiate a fresh deal after 12 months. At least that way hes not tied to the club, and surely the takeover will have passed by then, and he can renegotiate with new manager and owners?
  19. Hi Luke! Wow that's Jack Colback, or Jack Colback has one fan.
  20. Its the first time I've been worried about the takeover as i can't see anything but Ashley's grubby mitts on this. Nothing in it, they are acting appropriately. They are still operating as normal until the sale is signed off. I'm sure the information will have been shared between parties regardless, but Ashley would still need to protect his assets until the deal is officially signed off. Right now hes the owner of Nufc.
