There is a standard clause in pretty much every manager's contract that stipulates they aren't allowed to bad mouth the club in public - if this leak has come direct from Rafa and the club are able to prove it, they could sack him. There is simply no reason linked to transfer windows/contract expiry dates/financial dates that we've not signed anyone (other than Atsu). There is no doubt that Rafa would have liked to bring some players in by now but the reality is that a lot of players are either on holiday or at some international tournament and not particularly interested in flying home to go through medicals etc. Same goes for club chief executives, who are probably more interested in getting a tan than speaking to Charnley. There will be movements following pre-season starting.
