  1. A decent keeper would probably have saved 3 of those 4 goals like, he still looks incredibly shaky.
  2. He's been taken to hospital via helicopter, hopefully he'll make a full recovery.
  3. Unconfirmed reports on Twitter that he was receiving CPR. Very, very sad. Hopefully he is okay.
  4. It's a bit weird that Southampton have only got one pre-season fixture scheduled (away at Brentford). They are going on two tours, I presume they'll play some matches behind closed doors but it just seems odd.
  5. It's just finished 17-1 What a complete waste of time like, neither side can take much away from that.
  6. Can't even follow his own information. Are you a bit special? It doesn't specify if the £70m is including the sale of the fringe players like Darlow, or if the sales would increase the £70m. Any sale would increase transfer funds, although if the starting budget is £40m + a proposed £30m in sales (and the Darlow sale is extra/not budgeted for), its a lot different from £70m + sales.
  7. The Championship is going to be very difficult to get out of this season like, the quality isn't necessarily high but all of the teams are very even.
  8. Everton will have every chance of catching whichever of the top 6 decides to self combust this season (as at least one of them usually does). I do think they've wasted some of what they've spent, but they've had a very good summer so far like.
  9. Completely agree with what you've said, but whilst Ashley remains in control of our club there will always be a sense of angst. Any article that is published and is negative towards the running of the club will cause further angst because of the previous shit we've had to deal with. We're in a strange situation that we've never been in before during the Ashley reign, because we have a manager that we absolutely love and a set of players that we don't particularly despise - any threat to that is bound to cause a few worries.
  10. Aye, it also makes reference to the fact that Rafa wants to consolidate us as a PL team this season and avoid any sort of relegation battle. Which explains why he is taking the approach of getting in 6 or 7 decent PL standard players to put us on a decent platform for the future. The "pushing on" will happen if this is successful. I feel much more positive after that, which makes a change from the Chronicle
  11. Douglas has just written a fairly decent piece: http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-first-tranche-premier-league-13302188 Main points for those who don't want to infect their PC with AIDS: - NUFC were waiting for the first batch of PL TV money before making waves in the transfer window, this has now been paid. - The following PL money is paid monthly, with a bigger sum provided at the start of January to coincide with the transfer window. - The budget is around £70m, although it's not made clear if that is including any sums brought in through sales. - Benitez looking for 6 or 7 which explains why he is trying to get loan deals and players around the £10m-£15m mark. - NUFC willing to listen to offers for players like Darlow, to clear the wagebill, increase transfer funds and squad spaces for targets Rafa wants. - No information to suggest that NUFC wont break the transfer record, which puts to bed the rumours of a cap on funds. It sounds like Rafa has a lot of say and is deciding to bring in a number of players with his budget rather than just one or two superstars at £25m+ - Reina noted again as the preferred GK target.
  12. Beat Bury 3-2 last night and signed Browning on loan from Everton today. The good times have arrived!
  13. Villa owner claimed they'd rejected a 25m bid for him last night. Strange considering they've just sold him for £8m.
  14. Wolves are now outspending us like Neves confirmed for £15.8m
  15. Don't think we're skint but I think missing the Sky gravy train last season has hit us more than we thought in terms of where we are compared to everyone. That'd be fine if f***ing Huddersfield weren't outspending us If we'd spent £40m on who they've bought there'd have been hell on. That's not the point though. The point is that they have already spent £40m and seemingly have more available, whilst we've spent £8m and even struggled to get that done.
  16. Never searched him before, but the fucking state of Mino Raiola man. Like a foreign Del Boy.
  17. Don't think we're skint but I think missing the Sky gravy train last season has hit us more than we thought in terms of where we are compared to everyone. That'd be fine if fucking Huddersfield weren't outspending us
  18. Great talent but thick as fuck. Hopefully Rafa could do something with him.
  19. Aye, we base our transfer budget on the previous 12 months rather than the next upcoming 12 months. Other clubs are spending their £100m now and we're spending our Championship money from last season. Which also explains why we were able to spend well last season. This summer we'll have the transfer profit from last season, minus any losses we made over the course of the season. Makes excellent financial sense but absolutely atrocious footballing sense.
  20. Exact quotes so no one has to go on that abomination of a website. "Do Newcastle have to sell to buy?" "They've got to sell to give themselves a little more money because compared to some of the other PL they aren't in the same ball park at the minute." We obviously have to sell, because we have quite a large squad consisting of some very average players who should be shown the door. But regardless of whether we sell them for a combined fee of 50p or £50m, we should still have the spending power to be spending more than fucking Bournemouth. There is absolutely no reason why we couldn't go out and spend at least £60m without the need for selling anyone like.
  21. Sell-to-buy is not what Ashley said when Rafa agreed to stay like.
  22. Scenes on here when we match the offer too.
