    Gary Speed

genuinely can't believe its been 10 years since his passing... remember that 24 hours so vividly,I was only 17, his appearance on football focus ,always remember my da commenting on how well he looked and 'what great shape he was in. We drew with man utd at Old Trafford was a 3pm KO and I went into town to do a bit of Christmas shopping..... Will never forget the next morning was at mass, came back and had a text from my mate saying 'Gary speed is dead' I remember texting him back something rude back, because I didn't believe him, I remember at that particular time there was a lot of false rumours about celebrities dieing, a week or two before this day the same mate told me dougal from father Ted was dead, which was obviously not true.... however he replied 'its true suicide its on the BBC website' remember running into the living room and sticking the ceefax on, will never forget the feeling when I seen the headline...
  2. exactly, reading through this thread wondering why people fancy us ? loving the positivity, and Long may it continue, but we aren't leaving the Emirates with any thing other than a defeat, think well give a spirited performance and encouragung at times but 3-1 to them
  3. mate get a size bigger at least, usually a large in football jerseys, got the home jersey after the takeover in a XL and I could even of done going XXL lol
  4. I've actually got butterflies watching that and I've no idea why ?
  5. 5 months till June 22 ? then 2 years ?
  6. give what time ? clearly state that I will get behind the manager/board/team... just stated that his record the year Bournemouth went down was really really bad and maybe a cause for concern ? no doubt a step up from our previous manager, but 48 hours after it was thought a serial winner like emery was coming i do feel slightly underwhelmed.... do not want to come across as negative at all and sorry if I do. As I stated twice now fully 100 percent behind the manager, board and every one else involved with the football club
  7. don't know how to feel about this appointment tbh, if this was 2 months ago before the takeover and with Bruce in charge I'd probs be delighted... but with the takeover and current circumstances I do find it very underwhelming and it is hard to get excited about this appointment.... you cant undermine what he achieved at Bournemouth, taking a club from the bottom of the football league to the Premier League in 6 years is very impressive, and the fact he established them as a Premier League outfit is equally impressive, it is his last season in charge that scares me, they were Terrible, didn't they lose like 21 out of 27 matches ? that's a ridiculously bad record Steve Bruce levels of bad... and he was well backed to with funds, I really can't see how he's gonna set us up to grind out results to keep us from being cut adrift before we can buy players in January..... we really do need a DOF/SD/ Chief Executive or some one who has a footballing brain making decisions, because as good as the new owners are, this process has shown that they haven't got great footballing insight, never the less I will get behind Howe, the new owners and the team ⚫⚪
  8. as someone said previously on this thread only newcastle can you go from feeling such a high to feeling so low less than 24 hours later. the reason emery got me so excited bar his trophy filled CV, was that he was there perfect candidate to stop us getting cut adrift with the type of football he plays, spend a few bob in January and get us up the table, then after this seasons over building for the future, every confidence emery would've had us in or around the tob 6 and challenging for silverware.... but with howe it just doesn't make any sense, with the run we have between now and January, we could literally be 9-12 points from safety before the transfer window opens.... and say we do stay up do we trust howe with the rebuilding process, he spent a lot of money at bournemouth and that didn't pan out great, the owners have stated they want to be challenging for leagues and Champions leagues within 10 years, there's no way Howe will have us anywhere near the top 8, let alone the title
  9. not gonna lie I will be devastated if this falls through..... and howe coming in just feels so underwhelming...
  10. he's a knob head, mind when rafa took the Everton job he was on bein sports with Keys and Gray saying what a terrible appoint Rafa was, and he hasn't done anything recently etc....
  11. would be delighted if its emery, was my number 1 choice (bar rafa coming back) but didn't think he would leave Villarreal at this stage of the season.... exciting times ahead if we pull this off
  12. where has all this wenger talk suddenly come out of ? would love him till end of season tbh
  13. the takeover happened the day after my baby was born, so the fiancée got me and the baba the home Jersey, and got 'daddy 1 ' on the back of mine 1st time I seen the new Jersey up close actually think the Jersey looks nice, its just one of the D's and one of the Y's is peeling off already.... and the sizing is a bit mad, I would normally wear a large and even that is a bit baggy, but the woman bought me a XL and its actually a bit on the short size
  14. fucking hell, such a terrible decision.... fucking get rid... thats the optimism of the last 7 days out the window.... a heavy defeat and thats us cut adrift
  15. aye social media deffo has a part to play in it, it deffo influences me anyways, but back then under Souness/fat Sam it didn't seen no where is bad as it does now, there was always some inkling of hope that things were gonna turn around... felt as a fanbase we were always singing from the same hymn sheet ... maybe not maybe I'm just looking back from rose-tinted glasses because I was only a kid.... it all started for me in 2014 I remember when we came back to draw away from Swansea I was fuming cus I thought if we where to loose pardew would get sacked and we could start progressing.... (obviously we will never progress until Ashley is gone) under McClaren I initially got behind the team, until it was clear that he was incompetent and hadn't a clue what he was doing....then rafa came and I felt like a kid again was 100% emotionally invested in the club again, knew deep down with Ashley there that it would go tits up eventually, but just having a man of his class, professionalism and quality, who had a genuine interest and care in the football club and the city, even went back to buying a Jersey each season rafa was there?.... but when he left it all changed for me, like a lot of people in here, when Bruce came in it just became emotionless for me now, I dont feel the anger I did with pardew, carver and McClaren its much worse I just don't feel anything bar sadness at times, especially when I flick on sky sports or motd and see rafa doing his thing at Everton, on occasion over the last 2 years I do find my self cheering when we score or win, or gaining interest but... it slowly fades.... I just can't wait when we have a new manager and new owner and we can get excited for the match at the weekend, for a new season etc, until then....
  16. stunned that this is 3pm kick off, genuinely could of swore that this was a 5.30 kick off
  17. think it will be blue tbh.... the keeper away is orange and since June it was going around that the home will be predominantly black with a grandad collar, away black and the 3rd will be blue... they got the other 2 right

  19. call me gullible, but when she said that about "welcoming us to SJP" and saying at the end "IT WILL HAPPEN" genuinely gave me goosebumps and tingles down my spine
  20. that west ham kit it class, leaked away looks smart to, was desperately hoping we would get umbro whenever the puma deal ended, they have been the most consistent kit suppliers now since the tailored by umbro range in the late 00s early 10s
