Dumbfounded that people would rather sit in the Championship-- with all the consequences of that mounting-up each season away from the 'big show' -- if it meant winning a cup competition. Win six games potentially, in the main, against poor opponents and pick-up the EFL Cup (oh how validating!) versus be the best team in a hard fought 46 game season, pick up the Championship trophy AND get back in the Premier League with all that means for the profile and financial security of the club. Unless you still hate the regime at the club and therefore are ambivalent about NUFC doing well (which is fair enough) then it seems a no-brainer. That said, I still want both.

Given we're currently occupying fantasy-as-if-it-fucking-matters-what-you'd-prefer-land I would (just about) trade in being Champions to win the League Cup (for the first time). I would settle for the risk of the play-offs to win the FA Cup. But despite how enjoyable the Championship might be, I'd rather we were a small fish (with growth potential) in the big pond, so the answer has to be both.

That seems incredibly short-sighted of him, given how important DeFoe has been and could be to you. Looks like others have already made similar points, but I was really hoping to see Gayle and Mitrovic given a good run today. Not least as I think we risk being a bit predicable formation wise (we've a long history of being predicable in terms of our own inconsistency). Rafa may be of the opinion that if the team follow his brief then even if the oppsition know how we are going to play, they still won't be able to live with us. Lacking flexibility in formation, if nothing else, seems to give away an unnecessary advantage to opponents.
