  1. Like Dyche but those signings are fucking shit.
  2. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-boss-rafa-benitez-13385412 We're going to be stuck with Colback aren't we. And why did Rafa sign Lazaar? Can't remember a single league appearance from him last season.
  3. Why do you say that? I think he'll either stay or have better offers. :'(
  4. I doubt anyone would be allowed to periscope but minutes would be fantastic.
  5. Quite the pessimist aren't you? Can't blame you that much tbf. Anyway, a rumour! Yay. No idea why we're looking at another winger, mind. EDIT: And this also. No idea what the source is, but please be Batshuayi...
  6. We actually have a functioning team unlike most of the rabble in the bottom half. We can climb up further with well targeted upgrades, not a complete overhaul. A functioning championship team......not many players in our squad who are real top level players You don't need "real top level players" to stay up. I think some are really overestimating the bottom half of the PL. Yes, we need signings and we need them now, but the gulf in quality between the top Championship sides and the bottom half of the PL isn't as huge as some think. There's teams in the bottom half spending 20 and 30m on players nearly double our transfer record which is 12 years old We will never spend that amount on a player while Ashley and the secretary are running it Due to the inflated state of the market and teams having access to the PL TV money we missed out on. Is Nathan Ake worth £20m? For me, no. Is Sigurdsson worth £50m? A 28 year old Arnautovic? £25m? Not for me. I thought we'd break our transfer record this window. We haven't, ok, but there's still time to do so. Rafa is still here, so something must be happening with transfers.

  8. We're getting s*** loads more money than ever before as well, it's not like we're sat here earning 2010 money. Club needs to recognise this soon and stop complaining about the "overinflated market" like we're not part of the inflation. We are, but the majority of the PL have benefited from the increases in TV money for an extra season. It's not a level playing field. Those PL teams had the extra season's TV money because they didn't try to save money hiring s*** managers. These things have a way of coming back and biting you in the arse. I don't disagree, but that's a completely separate argument. Ultimately, we are where we are. We could end up back where we were making the same mistakes again. Substitute hiring s*** managers with buying championship players. While I'm happy about someone actually wanting to play for NUFC in Murphy sign for us and I actually think he'll be canny, in the immediate aftermath of last season I would've only considered going for 1 Championship player and that was Tom Cairney, as I thought he was class above the Championship and would do canny in a side like ours (by that I mean a team not being in a relegation fight but in the bottom half, which is what I thought we'd be aiming for this season). Vast majority of the links have been underwhelming, I'm just hoping there's modicum of truth in the interest of taking Batshuayi on loan rumour. We're yet to compete with the signing of Ritchie imo. Gayle's been our most successful i'd say, but Ritchie was already one of Bournesmouth's best at prem level and dropped a division to play with us. That was at Championship level, so you'd hope we have some more pull now we're back up. I know. So fucking frustrating, man.
  9. Monaco's exciting young attacking team torn apart by money from these TV deals and lucrative owners. Ah, modern football...

This trying to outgrieve one another or trying to be the most respectful is fucking tedious like.
  12. Going by last season, 8th and below are almost as poor as each other. West Ham are the only ones to have really strengthened. I'd argue Bournemouth, Watford & Leicester all have too. On the slipside Burnley and Stoke have approximately 0 goals in them. Stoke are my outside tip to struggle this season if they don't sign a few. I've no idea who Bournemouth have brought in apart from Nathan Ake, who was there last season up until the final months, nor do I Watford aside from Will Hughes and I've absolutely no clue who Leicester have brought in. Agree with you regarding Stoke btw. Defoe & Begovic for AFCB. New manager for Watford will mean a lot given they f***ed a large part of last season off. Maguire and Iborra are upgrades for Leicester's XI last season although whether the manager will do a Roeder is up for debate. Saying that, all, like ourselves, have massive flaws and you don't know how it'll play out once the season starts. New players or not it's absolutely imperative we start decent other the negativity will snowball. And given our start, that'll be magnified. Agh, forgot about Defoe. Agree with you on Bournemouth strengthening then. Watford I'm not so sure on, and surely that Shakespeare bloke who looks like typical yer da at Leicester's bubbles got to burst. They're decent bet to struggle I think, as I'm not convinced on their signings. Not so much on ours either like, but there you go. Agreed again. We have a great opportunity to make a decent start with the fixtures. There's desperate fixtures in the period running up to Christmas and if we're struggling then, God help us. If Rafa is still here that is.
  13. Agreed, but hence why I reckon this squad could come anywhere between 11th and nailed on relegation. A few injuries to key players and we're screwed. We're in desperate need of a striker, or 2 if Mitrovic goes and a CM. People can argue other positions also such as a #10 and I'd agree, but those 2 positions we desperately need players in.
  14. This squad with this manager could come anywhere between 18th and 11th imo as things stand, in terms of the teams who finished 8th and below last season not signing anyone more () and us not signing anyone more. Rafa is still here, so something must be going on in terms of getting players out and in. Well, that's what I'm clinging on to. Going by last season, 8th and below are almost as poor as each other. West Ham are the only ones to have really strengthened. I'd argue Bournemouth, Watford & Leicester all have too. On the slipside Burnley and Stoke have approximately 0 goals in them. 15. Michy Batshuayi. We can attract him without a doubt imo, but the mongs above Rafa won't f***ing entertain the idea. Even on a loan.

  17. The port area is nice. Rest of it is tight streets ran by the Corsican mafia.
  18. With a bit of luck and good management it probably is. I can't be alone in hoping we'd be aiming a bit higher than that though, which is the reason for my disappointment so far. We're acting like we're aiming for 17th, not like we're back where we belong with a world class manager in charge. My thoughts also.
  19. Aye reckons it's St James holdings XzlxLdAdszdzSa Banged your head against the keyboard?
  20. Realistic? Didn't play much in the league did he? Know he scored a hattrick in the Champions League vs Basel but that's it.

    Bystanders

I'm not one for long(er) posts but I'm going to give it a go. From a young fans perspective (I turn 17 in December), I entirely understand people on here's loss of passion or love for Newcastle United or football in general; English football has become since the beginning of this decade, or arguably years before that, very sanitised and the Premier League is now a valuable and attractive brand across the world due to the TV companies and the absolutely ridiculous deal which has caused the inflated transfer market in which clubs such as Manchester City are able to spend £50m+ on a full back. It's caused the messing about of supporters who are just planning to go and support their team, whether that's at away matches or lads and lasses from abroad or elsewhere coming to a home game. It's caused the ruination of the sport we all love, or used to love. The loss of passion for NUFC is one which everyone will all have their own reasons for. Personally, due to the unfortunate timing I was introduced to Newcastle (my first ST was 07/08) all I've really known is an Ashley owned Newcastle United. I know all about what NUFC has achieved in its history in terms of in the 90s and early 2000s under Keegan and Sir Bobby, but I didn't see any of that. Rafa Benitez is the first man of real managerial nous (Keegan aside) we've appointed since I got really into football. I love the man, he's brought back the love for some and brought hope for something actually to happen under this regime. But if he was to be forced out due to Ashley, I've been trying to convince myself to just sever all ties to the club and stop going to games if that were to happen, and I just don't think I could do it. Everyone else has their own reasons and more important matters than Newcastle United, whether that's kids, work or anything else. As a younger fan, I don't have that. If I just stopped going to matches on a Saturday afternoon or a Wednesday night cold turkey I would feel that there's something missing in my life. I have school, trying talking to lasses and failing miserably, going out with mates and the match to look forward to. Just cutting out the match would be incredibly difficult for me, because I want to go and support Newcastle United, it's my club. My dad is incredibly stubborn also, I've been trying to convince him to not go if Rafa is forced out as if he stopped it would be easier for me, but he insists on holding a season ticket, as it's his club also, which he's went and supported since the 70s, through the grim times such as the McKeag years and now under Ashley. He's an obstinate old b****** but I couldn't stop going while he does, especially due to more personal issues like his recent health scares et cetera.
