  1. The port area is nice. Rest of it is tight streets ran by the Corsican mafia.
  2. With a bit of luck and good management it probably is. I can't be alone in hoping we'd be aiming a bit higher than that though, which is the reason for my disappointment so far. We're acting like we're aiming for 17th, not like we're back where we belong with a world class manager in charge. My thoughts also.
  3. Aye reckons it's St James holdings XzlxLdAdszdzSa Banged your head against the keyboard?
  4. Realistic? Didn't play much in the league did he? Know he scored a hattrick in the Champions League vs Basel but that's it.

I'm not one for long(er) posts but I'm going to give it a go. From a young fans perspective (I turn 17 in December), I entirely understand people on here's loss of passion or love for Newcastle United or football in general; English football has become since the beginning of this decade, or arguably years before that, very sanitised and the Premier League is now a valuable and attractive brand across the world due to the TV companies and the absolutely ridiculous deal which has caused the inflated transfer market in which clubs such as Manchester City are able to spend £50m+ on a full back. It's caused the messing about of supporters who are just planning to go and support their team, whether that's at away matches or lads and lasses from abroad or elsewhere coming to a home game. It's caused the ruination of the sport we all love, or used to love. The loss of passion for NUFC is one which everyone will all have their own reasons for. Personally, due to the unfortunate timing I was introduced to Newcastle (my first ST was 07/08) all I've really known is an Ashley owned Newcastle United. I know all about what NUFC has achieved in its history in terms of in the 90s and early 2000s under Keegan and Sir Bobby, but I didn't see any of that. Rafa Benitez is the first man of real managerial nous (Keegan aside) we've appointed since I got really into football. I love the man, he's brought back the love for some and brought hope for something actually to happen under this regime. But if he was to be forced out due to Ashley, I've been trying to convince myself to just sever all ties to the club and stop going to games if that were to happen, and I just don't think I could do it. Everyone else has their own reasons and more important matters than Newcastle United, whether that's kids, work or anything else. As a younger fan, I don't have that. If I just stopped going to matches on a Saturday afternoon or a Wednesday night cold turkey I would feel that there's something missing in my life. I have school, trying talking to lasses and failing miserably, going out with mates and the match to look forward to. Just cutting out the match would be incredibly difficult for me, because I want to go and support Newcastle United, it's my club. My dad is incredibly stubborn also, I've been trying to convince him to not go if Rafa is forced out as if he stopped it would be easier for me, but he insists on holding a season ticket, as it's his club also, which he's went and supported since the 70s, through the grim times such as the McKeag years and now under Ashley. He's an obstinate old b****** but I couldn't stop going while he does, especially due to more personal issues like his recent health scares et cetera.
  6. Was the Gerrard display when we were booing him after a poor England performance ? Pretty sure he got a standing ovation when he came off that day by sections of the ground. Yeah he did. It was when they completely bummed us under Allardyce and Given got MOM. Was it not under Kinnear during our relegation season? The 1-5 was under Kinnear and the season before we get completely bummed by Liverpool at home also but it was 0-3 and under Allardyce. Basically, the games were carbon copies of each other, only difference being the season, manager and scoreline.
  7. Could he have feasibly left the atmosphere on his way to his announcement interview?
  8. Aye, good finish as well. Never expected him to score when the keeper spilled it.
  9. Be a tad underwhelmed if we bring in this Rolan, mind.
  10. Echoing what many others have said, have only good things to say about him from last season, scored important goals at Brentford and at home to Rotherham. Wish him nothing but the best! Great professional.
  11. Well I mean 10 goals in 36 games last season looks ok. But better when you see it was 1765 minutes total (so basically just under 20 full matches). I thought that for our first season back in the PL we'd be looking at a striker who's going to get 15+. Maybe Gayle can be that man, I hope so, but I can't see it. I thought Rafa would be looking in Spain for a striker tbh.
  12. Pretty sure Leeds, Rotherham and Sheff Wed didn't go to zero points. Regardless, the system is fine and fair, and that's coming from a younger supporter with only 3 points. Only change that I personally would consider is allowing 1 point for the purchase of home League Cup and FA Cup tickets. I was referring to the previous five seasons! Ah, sorry.
  13. His goal record for a striker who is consistently played through the middle is a bit shit, mind.
