Fouls general don’t have to be deliberate, that is why you have the ‘careless’ category for example, but handball does have to be a deliberate handball. A player throwing his body toward the ball to block a shot, and it accidentaly hits his arm on the way which is down by his side, that is not a foul. But the handball rule is one of those ‘rules’ in the book that is not really a rule but a principle. There is no clear definition of what is deliberate handball. Only guidelines. That is why it causes so much controversy. Because it is completely open to opinion and interpretation.

I disagree that it’d be nerves. They play in a tough league. And teams tend to put extra men behind the ball and be more motivated against the top of league team. They have only conceded 15 goals all season. Teams are just putting up more of a defensive wall against them now and their attackers are finding it harder to score. But they are still in a good position and can still win the league from here. I still fancy city because they are so good, but on paper Liverpool have more favorable fixtures coming up. Their hardest away game will be against us. If we lose our home form then that won’t even be hard for them.
