  1. Yeah that might be the best way although its difficult to "work" fullbacks back into play especially with no cup games to speak of for some time. Manquillo's struggles against Huddersfield still stick in my mind (even Spurs I wasnt impressed). He was good enough last time out so maybe see how it goes against Swansea. Had Yedlin joined the US team for WCQ then it would be 100% no brainer. Its also possible that Rafa wants Manquillo (with Yedlin back) at LB given the lack of options, so that may necessitate things.
  2. Believe Yedlin is 3 weeks back into training tomorrow so unless there was a setback that we havent heard about then I assume he should be available for selection. Perfect world you could bring him on a as sub at RW to help shutdown a 2-nil victory against Swansea.
  3. To be fair, those loan are interest free. Convert to market %, the interest cost per year should be 4-5M per year if finance externally. No people here will notice or bring this out anyway. How much you think the advert space that SD uses converts too?
  4. Nothing to understand really...he uses SD as a guise to sit on his hands at this point. People can spin the economics any which way (saw a guy on Reddit trying to say why the club has no money). Sports owners in major leagues that are in it because of their profitability and only the economics (or extensively for) drive me nuts. The money is on the back end for them. Sure you dont go crazy and spend 500 million if you have no way of re-couping that but he can surely spend more than he has of late. The failures of the past need to be regarded sure but not at the detriment of the future. A couple years in the PL again will help solvency and for the long term. Failing to do all that you can to ensure that you stay in the PL is piss poor management especially for a guy obviously concerned about the bottom line. Its befuddling to me and if I didnt care I would hope that it blows up in his face. He is a black eye for this club and the quicker he lets go of it and allows for new ideas and practices to be implemented the better. I would normally say the grass isnt always greener but in this case...I think it is.
  5. I pray that Vulcan kicks around buying a Premier League club again and sets their sites here (rumored interest in Villa a while back). Please
  6. Yeah Im guessing West Ham will look at it this way. Pay 5 million to all but secure (or to the best of their ability) that they maintain PL status and then have a competent, proven winner at the helm. Or grab whomever and hope they dont continue to slide and end up relegated and lose potentially 100's of millions. 5 million buys them piece of mind, will instantaneously rally the supporters, and long term they have a guy who they dont need to dump to take the proverbially next step along the way. Hmmm.... I was never really worried all that much till late in the window and more so now. Its really just the cost of young unknown player at this point away from happening.
  7. Does that sign say "Ashley has the runs" and that all the liquid must go?
  8. Blame Yedlin....Lazaar was following him around America all summer In all seriousness I figured he would be one of the easiest to shift out for a nominal fee.
  9. Im guessing a loan will go thru at some point. Probably it. I wish they would atleast see the shed wages and go after a loanee that is likely not gonna play at one of the big clubs but is a decent player that maybe the parent club could try to wrestle some value out of after getting a full season of PT. A #10 would be perfect. Not quite sure who but the saved wages on the outgoings would feasibly allow it and Ashley could be happy not to commit money long term or what not and atleast it could feasibly help what seems like a certain scrap this year based off the business that has been completed and the roster today. Grrr. Instead we'll get some over the hill minute eater in.
  10. a #10 who can't score or create goals sounds pretty f***ing pointless like. We could just bring Obertan back for £2m. This might be just the role he plays in Italy. He has played deeper in a midfield 3 for Samp. Italian teams are more inclined to expect a #10 to be a 'fantasista' ie a Totti, Del Piero, Cassano. In England it is far more normal that a box to box midfielder is pushed forward to play there. I think if Rafa wants Praet he'd make good use of him and would be a good signing. He has a lot of attributes. Agreed. I was atleast hoping that one of the guys in the league, given the wages shed, could atleast be a viable loan option if even to merely help secure placement for next year while hedging the risk because Ashley is a nonce and doesnt care that investment now and keeping said placement is better long term for the financial viability. In my eyes the right man is in position, even if there are signs that goes away at years' end, and hopefully all the money that comes with it to re-assess and/or increase the value of the club for a potential sale in the upcoming year. If it fails then were not on the hook for a expensive (in Ashley's eyes) #10 long term. Not the way I like to go about it but I was hoping it would be an option nonetheless. If it wasnt such an obvious outcome (seemingly doing nothing) then I might actually be shocked at the ineptitude.
  11. Tagliafico and Yedlin is probably the fastest fullback pairing I can think of.
  12. Not that it matters anymore since it sounds like Monaco are getting him; he played about 1150 minutes for City in league play and got 8 goals and 4 assists. Which is about the same as his time with Sevilla last season. So I think there is a whole lot more variable to it than just failing.
  13. Kenedy and Jovetic would be fantastic given the way it looks today but lets be realistic, it will likely be just Kenedy and maybe some cast off from a team that has upgraded. If Jovetic were to happen, I would be elated.
  14. That final run by Adegbenro was a great goal especially given the context. Crazy that Ajax are out
  15. Yup they just lost 4-2 on agg. to Rosenborg. Worrisome but maybe it pushes the deal over the line instead of the opposite.
  16. Make that a few pints on the table and that is definitely Ashley right now
  17. Sorry I meant to say "I hope his move ISNT predicated on Ajax staying in Europe"
  18. You want him to stay? sorry I meant to say isnt
  19. Hopefully Ajax interest is predicated on continuing in Europe
  20. Lejeune back for West game isnt he? Hopefully Yedlin will be too Yeah, hopefully. I have some doubts on Yedlin just because we havent heard anything to my knowledge. Either way, despite the really disappointing start, getting two defenders back, especially perceived starters will help. Maybe Manquillo to LB depending on activity before the window closes. Ritchie really needs Yedlins pace overlapping him to help get him some time and space. Agreed on Ritchie needing Yedlins pace outwide mate Although would like to see him play centrally possibly Mbemba did well at left back True I wouldnt mind seeing Ritchie in the middle if he continues struggling wide

  22. Probably a good thing for our side of things but USA manager Bruce Arena said that Yedlin wont be available for selection for the September WCQ's. So hopefully he is ready to go after the break and no worries of aggravation in a international match. Im guessing he is a week away or so. Getting him and Lejeune back shortly is helpful.
  23. Maybe Metz is reading the scouting report from a few years ago? Or playing Fifa 14 when he had like a 89 overall potetial
