Judging by a lot of Stoke fans' comments about his playing style (likes to drift/good movement, sound technical ability while not being the strongest etc), it sounds like he could be well suited to play our number 10 role rather than being used as the focal point? This isn't based on anything i've seen personally mind as i can honestly say i've never seen him play even once.

Frustrating start to the season. Our tactics were clearly to deny them clear cut chances and stay in the game as long as possible which i think we did well to achieve, especially with 2 defensive injuries early on. Then some idiot decided to get himself sent off and it was always gona be difficult after that. Maybe we could've created a bit more before the red card but i think we would've taken more risks towards the end of the game and with 11 men we might've nicked it. Shelvey is a bell end, i hope this Merino kid can fill his boots cos i don't want us to rely on that f***er any more. Positives for me were - - Atsu looked good at this level, and on the left! Our best player by a mile! - Manquillo looked better than i thought he was. Might turn out to be a shrewd signing. - Merino looked more than decent for the short spell he was on. - Rob Elliott makes me look like i'm in good shape.

The commentators have been kissing his arse since the 1st minute. He got praise for having the most touches after about 20 minutes FFS! Personally i think he had a difficult afternoon but didn't make any big errors so his manager will be reasonably happy with him.

I think Shearer was rubbish at first but has definitely improved over the years and is fairly decent now. Also, for a guy who was a brilliant striker in his day, he offers no decent tactical insight at all. It's actually embarrassing that this guy has landed such good gigs on the telly.

Rafa is probably expecting/hoping to get a keeper and that's why Woodman hasn't gone on loan yet. The striker situation worries me though, he probably expected to have one in by now and that's why we allowed Murphy to leave. It makes you wonder far down the list of striker targets we are by now.

Did he play in the middle in that game like? No he played on the right but i remember when we were 3-1 down and he was scrapping away in midfield trying to win the ball back and get things going for us. Thought to myself he'd end up playing in CM or as an AM as he likes to be involved as much as possible, also thought he should be the captain aswell.

Commentators (actually it's more often the Co-Commentator) when an older player does something good and they say something like, "That's the vast experience of him showing there!" when in fact it's got nothing to do with experience it's just a good bit of play.
