  1. Aye. On paper it was a sound appointment. I genuinely thought he’d win us the league. As did everyone else I’d imagine.
  2. That looks like a good pair to me. Ward-Prowse adds a completely different set of tools to our midfield.
  3. I didn’t watch the game but just watched the highlights. Not sure if it’s just how it was edited but Henderson’s interview - fucking hell! “Me, Me, Me, Me, Me, Me… And let’s talk about Me a little more!” Does he think he’s indispensable or something? He struggles to get in the side given his injury and the other options available in my eyes. By the way i actually like him as a captain and a player, and i don’t give a fuck about the penalty. But he came across as a bit of knob tonight i thought.
  4. Personally i never thought Lingard should have gone. Yes, he had a great 6 months for West Ham but i don’t think that warrants nicking a place in the squad after what seemed like a couple of years doing absolutely nothing for Man Utd. I do think Ward-Prowse was worth a place though. He’s a bit different to our other CMs and his set piece delivery is outstanding. He could’ve been useful IMO.
  5. Good post! 👍 Your comments about Southgate are spot on. I don’t think he’s a particulalrly great manager or anything (he’s actually too cautious for my liking), but you do get the impression that every decision he makes is done after plenty of planning and consideration. And yeah i’d be shocked if it wasn’t 4-3-3. It’s what most of our defenders play in for their clubs for a start.
  6. I’ve seen your posts for years but didn’t realise it was you! Good to see you still going strong, and good luck!
  7. Probably the same types who wanted to “Give Brucey a chance” and were “enjoying the football more” under him originally.
  8. He’s a total cretin. Prides himself on being the Joey Essex of the football world. Half of his thickness is probably an act aswell which makes him even more of a prick.
  9. Our “approaches” to decent managers will be exactly the same as how we “approach” decent or expensive players - Offer shit terms that we know they won’t take. Then we can say “we tried”.
  10. Garth, is that you? Amazing team. Just didn’t go for the standard 4-4-2 90s team that most people pick.
  11. I haven’t really tried to pick a system that would work with these players or anything, don’t see the point since it’s an imaginary team. I’ve just picked 3 defenders, 4 midfielders, and 3 forwards. Schmeichel Ivanovic Kompany Cole Silva Gerrard Viera Giggs Shearer Henry Rooney
  12. It was a cracking header but i feel like Dubravka was a bit flat-footed and would ususally have kept that out if his sharpness was at it’s peak. You can’t really expect that in his first match back after injury i don’t think. Annoying cos he should’ve had 5 or 6 games under his belt by now.
  13. Did they get banned? Can only see Gallowgate as a member, Ando7[/member] needs to set them a trap Yeah. He was a weird, weird person. He's Rafa Facts or similar on Twitter. Is he the same one that really really hated Eddie Howe for no particular reason at all? Or was that another weirdo?
  14. Souness. Just a bitter old cunt who’s clearly jealous of these young lads with their careers still ahead of them. Offers zero tactical insight. Doesn’t like saying anything positive unless it’s an obviously great bit of play. Comes across as the bully who thinks he’s the hardest in the studio. Then there’s the fact that, at every given opportunity, he cries about how hard Newcastle fans made the job for him when he was our manager. When in reality he inherited one of the best squads we’ve ever had, fell out with our best talent, and somehow managed to downgrade every single position he signed a player in. I don’t care if he was a good midfielder 700 years ago, he’s got no place talking about modern football and he’s a complete arsehole.
  15. They need a better striker, maupay isn't good enough to rely goals on. I've said it often, but I'll say it again. Their strikers aren't just not good enough, they're horseshit. Maupay is a disgrace. The positions he gets himself in to only to fluff a weak shot pretty much every single time is embarrassing. If I was ever to put money on a Brighton goalscorer it'd be Dunk. It's astonishing they havent addressed it. They wouldn't need to spend much to drastically improve. EDIT: Fuck me. I forgot their last attempt to address it was the notoriously prolific Danny fucking Welbeck. If I was a Brighton fan I'd be furious. Bit harsh? He got 10 goals in his maiden Premier League season and is on course for the same return this season. Rondon did similar numbers for us and we thought he was wonderful. He could definitely score more, but given that he’s still a few years away from his peak and seems a constant menace in the Bellamy sort of mould whenever i watch them, then i’d say he’s pretty useful player. You’ve nailed their main problem though, he shouldn’t be carrying the weight of the goal burden for them.
  16. Really need someone to find that picture of Jenas now like. Might just cheer me up for a few minutes.
  17. He went rapidly downhill after a very bright start with us. It seemed like he began to believe his own hype and went from being and all-action-box-to-box midfieler, to a midfielder that just trots around playing sideways and backward passes. He also took a shit Panenka in a pre season shoot out which had Sir Bobby furious as we were taking the tournament seriously. Then Souness came in and the players around him started underperforming aswell, highlighting how average/poor he had become. Souness then hung him out to dry by making some stupid comment that Jenas didn’t like playing for Newcastle cos it was “like living in a goldfish bowl”. He was sold to Spurs not long after and the goldfish bowl comments seemed to stick. I remember we beat Spurs 3-1 at St James during which Jenas managed to miss an open goal in front of the Gallowgate and the whole stadium was singing “THREE-ONE... TO THE GOLDFISH BOWL” Pretty embarrassing day for him, he looked wounded. He always got stick off us but as far as i can remember it was never nasty or hateful.
  18. Forever bleating on that they're a big(ger) club, yet simultaneously cry-arsing at the total lack of interest in their plight. The mackem paradox. A marradox
  19. I can see him going to Wolves. I don’t think Nuno has much time left there and Rafa would be a perfect replacement for where they are/where they want to go.
  20. Nonsense  Only need to have a look at any page in this thread to see he has been highly rated during his entire time here. Darlows kicking is a genuine liability, and while he has been very good this season, he just can't compare to Dubravka. Unless Dubravka isn't fully fit, he should be number 1. Aye WTF? Those were the 2 things that were noticeably better about Dubz when we first signed him. His distribution is decent and, almost just as importantly, he looks confident doing it. Command of his area is fine aswell and if you watch him he seems to be constantly talking to his defenders. My main criticism of Dubravka is that he does have a mistake in him but i suspect that’s mainly down to the amount of shots he has to face.
  21. Jonas was exceptionally quick when he first signed for us. Not sure if he bulked up a bit after signing or just lost a bit of pace but it only seemed to last a year or 2.
  22. 2-0. A comfortable, but unspectacular win for Jones in his first home match in charge 👍
