Is there actually any evidence of his links with the Pozzos, or has it just become gospel since someone suggested on here that he might yesterday? Genuine question by the way… I would actually like to change my opinion of him if there was any evidence to do so.
-
? 100% record BECAUSE he only posts once it’s been pretty much confirmed by everyone else. Every single time. Hope and Ornstein break stories, Romano just tags himself on the end. Anyway, who cares. I’m criticising a prick with a Twitter catchphrase, you’re defending a prick with a Twitter catchphrase. I won’t change your opinion, you won’t change mine. Let’s move on.
-
Look daft? I just find it hilarious that people put their faith in a news aggregator with a catchphrase.
-
Why? Is he a news aggregator? Yes Is he a tap-in merchant? Yes Is he actually a journalist? He’s had a few cameos on Sky Italia since he became popular on Twitter. (Edit…I stand corrected on that… yes he is technically a journalist and has been for a while) If you can point me in the direction of any/many stories he’s actually broken though, please feel free, because I follow him and all I see is the same stuff regurgitated after other more legitimate sources have broken something. What he is VERY good at, though, is creating a brand around himself and a sense of legitimacy when the substance of what he is saying is usually already common knowledge.
-
I’m just winding you up man. I just find it really odd that people treat him like some kind of gospel when it’s clear as day that he’s a news aggregator. He rarely (if ever) breaks stories, and when he does he appears to just be making educated guesses / jumps the gun. I just think it’s hilarious that people give his “here we go” bullshit more weight than actual journalists with actual ability and actual sources.
-
Nope. I’d love him to be right. But he still wasn’t first with it (if it’s true). I think he’s likely jumped the gun though.

Newcastle United 3-3 Manchester City (21/08/2022)

He's the best "pundit" around... he actually analyses a game. Would like to see him get more mainstream work. -

I love this post for so many reasons! ???? -
Absolutely fucking brilliant today! Never gives up. Chases everything. Breaks up everything. Contributes to the start of plays. He’s just absolutely outstanding. £40m was a BARGAIN!

Amazing stuff. Some absolutely massive high points. City are always going to create, but we were outstanding. -

Stunning stuff. Apart from the first 7 or 8 minutes we’ve been absolutely outstanding! Joelinton and Maxi brilliant. -
That seems like a more reasonable assessment of the situation. I just find it very very hard to believe that our final offer has gone in if only one “journalist” is saying it. It would have been widespread by now.
-
No not at all. Making it up is literally pulling it out of his arse, like the guys at the Sun do on regular occasions. I’m sure he does have some contacts that have suggested things to him, and in this case (in my opinion) he’s taken a punt on a new bid going in to be first to break any potential news, and to keep the likes and shares rolling in. I mean, with all we already know about this potential deal, any one of us in here could have made that guess too. Without any other significant journalist backing him up (yet) I’m thinking (at the moment) that it’s a punt. That obviously could change though. I’m going to stand by my opinion, pretty much solely because I can’t stand the guy. Any “journalist” who brands himself the way he has and gives himself a catchphrase is an attention seeking prick ?
-
I have never said he made it up. I said I think it’s an educated guess.
-
Errrmmm… have you actually followed football / transfer season before? Of course they make things up / make educated guesses / post things without corroborated sources. It’s far more valuable to people like Romano and co to get likes / shares / comments than it is to be accurate. Their social media numbers are their brand. Sometimes they go hand in hand, sure, but you must not have being paying attention if you think that they don’t make stuff up. Romano, in particular, has pretty much always just posted stuff when all the other actual journalists have come to a conclusion on something. As Rich quite rightly said above (albeit in a sarcastic way) he is absolutely a “tap-in merchant”. He very very rarely breaks a story. The only journalists I trust on that front are the 3 Athletic guys… Ornstein, Caulkin and Waugh. You rarely get speculation from them. That being said, perhaps if he is actually a Watford fan / has connections with their owners as claimed above, then perhaps this time it’s different…I just find it odd that literally no other journalist has backed him up (yet).
-
I hope you’re right. I personally think he’s making an educated guess, and he’s worded his exclusive in a way that makes it very easy to back away from should it turn out not to be true (“verbal” usage). We’ll see. Fingers crossed either way.
-
Odd that it’s only Romano talking about this, no?
-
I don't know why anyone thinks Romano knows anything to be honest. He's a tap in merchant... has he ever been first with news? Ever? He watches all the journalists, sees what the consensus is, and then posts. That's all.
-
Or you're putting words in people's mouths to suit your own agenda? I really liked Mitrovic and wish we'd kept him because the potential was obvious to me. I think the same about Pedro... there's a tonne of potential there.
-
Of course. It’s just pretty laughable/predictable to read these “opinions”, that’s all. People saying he’s shit / Wood mk2… I mean, it’s just completely objectively bullshit. He’s 20 years old, been one of the rare top performers at a struggling club for a couple of seasons, has bags of potential but is nowhere near the finished article, yet. You could write the above almost word for word for Ekitike but he got an entirely different reaction because he was new to people. I just think people aren’t understanding what kind of player we’ve actually been looking for. We’ve, to me, quite clearly been looking for a versatile, young forward player that isn’t afraid to play backup to Wilson for a while, but who can contribute a lot more than Wood. With the added bonus of providing more competition / pace across the whole front line. He fits that bill quite well. Not necessarily my first choice for it, but a good shout.
-
As fucking always, this place is bi-polar when the truth is actually that he’s a pretty decent player. Not a world beater (yet), but nowhere near as bad as some posters are making out. Very similar to Ekitike, and still only 20. Think personally, for around £20m, he’d be a good solid addition to add competition across the front line. But I would still hope to see another player (ideally RW or AM) come in too.

Brighton & Hove Albion 0-0 Newcastle United (13/08/2022)

Odd performance. Don’t feel particularly worried or pressured by Brighton, and we’ve exerted ourselves well at times, but been pretty sloppy overall.
