Even if at some point, performances start dropping, which is inevitable even with the best teams, he should get at least 1 season to work through it. He's proven to be a good manager and deserves time. From flirting with relegation to losing a cup final in 2 seasons, that's immense progress. Look at teams like Nottingham Forest and Everton who spent so much to be so terrible. Could easily happen to Newcastle as well.

Just like Schar, was identified and playing well under Rafa and a 40m fee was quoted for him. Crashed under the disaster of Steve Bruce and almost left the club on a free. Revitalized under the better coaching of Eddie Howe.
-
The team was getting relegated before he arrived and nothing has changed so far. At least give him till the end of the season before judging.
-
Was the key to unlocking Newcastle in attack along with Perez and Rondon. His arrival added much needed attacking options along with a solid defence. Sadly a change of manager and suddenly the smile is gone. Mostly the same players and most of them has declined since Rafa left.
-
Easily could have been another Shelvey red card
-
Rafa had 10 games and took about 3 or 4 games to get his idea across. Eddie Howe will have 27 games. I'm quite confident Newcastle will not be relegated.

I feel that their primary target or targets are either unavailable or unwilling. Therefore they are trying to see if Graeme Jones has it in him to keep the club up as they do not wish to compromise. Ideally they want to wait till summer and see if any of their top target is available. If Graeme Jones is able to show signs that he can keep the club up, the job is his till end of season. If the club is still in danger by december, they will be forced into making a short term appointment and look into paying him off after he keeps Newcastle up and make a long term appointment in summer.

Too early to tell. He's 24. So far, it seems like he thrives being the top dog who is allowed to do what he wants on and off the pitch. In a top team with a top coach, he might go up another level or he breaks down mentally because of the discipline required. I'll give him another season or two to see if he has it in him to adjust and go right to the very top.
-
That looks very much like a Steve Bruce special except it's 4 at the back. Will hold judgement till the actual game is over.
-
I do not know what you are trying to say here. Newcastle won the Championship and yes, Steve Bruce gave the go ahead for Joelinton and for a whole season played him as the main striker. The same Joelinton Rafa refused to sign.
-
Style of play is dependant on the players he has. I would say being top 3 or 4 in creating big chances to conceding big chances ratio in Europe right now is a pretty good style to have.
-
I 100% agree there is no way Rafa will break his contract. However, I also believe if Everton's loses a few games the minority fan base who hates Rafa might shout loud enough that the club sacks him, ignoring that their squad was terrible outside of the first 11 and the injuries they have to their key players now.
-
To be fair, anyone on the list should keep Newcastle up comfortably. Next season will be the one any new manager will be judged on.

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-man-city-psg-bayern-21890641 Everton have one of the best ratios for big chances created and conceded in Europe’s top five leagues. The Blues trail only Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain when it comes to making opportunities in the final third and stopping them at the other end.

Everton lost. A couple more losses and their fanbase will be asking for a new manager. Maybe Amanda is just waiting for that to happen. ?
-
Absolutely not. No decent manager is going to switch clubs while the season just started. Out of jobs managers that are also good are far and few between. With the exception of Conte, there is no guarantee they even fit the Premier League. My first choice remains getting Rafa but no way he will do it as a man of honour. In the summer things will be different. Some managers might be sacked, some might relish a new challenge. Much more options.

Still blaming Rafa. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/steve-bruce-rafael-benitez-newcastle-21797992 "I think whoever took over from Rafa, it was going to be tough," said Bruce. "I don’t think people wanted me from the start, in the local media and the fans. It has been incredibly draining emotionally at times, very hard. Not just for me but for my whole family, who are all Geordies and who are all Newcastle fans." No. People didn't want you because you were incompetent and defended Mike Ashley while spending much more than Rafa to make the team worse. The longer you were in-charge, the worse the team performed after Rafa's teaching were all forgotten. 3 seasons to "change" and you are still "trying to change". Rafa took less than 2 months to make Everton better even with an injury crisis.
-
I still think the best bet is to wait till the Summer before going for a top manager. Pointless getting in someone just to stay away from relegation. Either let Steve do it or Graeme Jones. The players will be motivated to prove themselves anyway so tactics wont matter that much. "Just play".
-
To put things into perspective, club owners has always been rich and some have been shady. Since then, club owners are still rich and shady except they are now from other countries.
-
Have you seen Everton's games this season? Give him control and the football is so different. He's pragmatic and will do what it takes to get results. I do disagree with the most boring football statement too. Much better than what Newcastle is playing now.
-
Yes but Everton sack their managers almost every season. There is a good chance he might be available in the summer. They need money for the new stadium so who knows if they break their promise and remain skint for the next few years. Their fans certainly doesn't want him there so that's another factor.
-
This season is over anyway. Most of the top managers are not available and no matter how good Conte is, you do not want to be held to ransom by his demands or what if he says no? End of season will be a good time to assess who is available and appoint the best man. Hopefully Rafa.
-
I'll add on that I'll be happy if the new owners keep Steve Bruce on till the end of the season as long as there is no danger of relegation just so they can get Rafa back (Everton sack their manager every season or so, 6 managers in 5 years or something like that)
-
I really hope Amanda goes all out to bring Rafa back but I think he has too much integrity to do it. It will be the perfect rebuild for him. Newcastle needs someone who is more than a coach or manager. Newcastle needs a man with a vision who can revamp the training facilities, medical, scouts, youth, first team and re-connect with the fans and community. Can't think of any other better than Rafa to do it.

The only reason to watch the match is ASM. Fast, strong, skillful, 2 good feet. Reminds me of prime Ginola.
