Getting excited because the bloke referred to it as "we". He also referred to PIF as "they" but they never mentioned or showed that bit in the interests of inbalance

He's arguably bottom of the list of important managers in my time supporting Newcastle and only even relevant at all because he went above and beyond the call of duty at being unlikable and poor at his job. And were just a small club everyone keeps saying. Don't think he'd be far off the bottom of Villa's list either. Souness got to a cup semi-final, Gullit a final, Dalglish a final (First in decades)+ Barcelona, Pardew 5th, Hughton inherited a cluster f*ck of a situation and could hardly have done better Roeder took over Souness mess and went from 6th bottom to 7th top in a couple months, tonking the mackems on way and presiding over Shearer's farewell McFaul was a total club legend before being a manager Ossie arguably set up the style Keegan built on and blooded youngsters many of whom went on the hold their own at the highest level for us Benitez relegation fodder promoted and established in midtable on nothing and gave the city/club pride and hope again Apart from the caretakers there's only Jim Smith as unimportant to NUFC's recent history as Bruce but he was an infinitely better man and manager in my book.

Neil Lennon was on about it last night. A bloke who had actual death threats and a bullet sent to him thought getting called a cabbage head (not even a phrase we coined - national media started the manager for vegetable racket and Martin Samuel was in on it) was out of order. Another one off the top of my head is Boro fans hated McLaren (there most succesful manager by far) - he got so much sympathy for that the national media that they made him a laughing stock.

Scored for Inter here in the Champions League. Charnley's shocked to learn you can look further afield than Felling and beyond his f*cking pitiful roladex -
Madness. Nearly every manager and player gets stick and every set of fans has give it out. Just via this forum I've seen Mourinho (one of the greatest managers of all time) getting absued 'dinosaur' 'old man' etc by two ancient league titles (but not entitled/demanding) Spurs fans and the mackems towards Johnson this year alone. The only difference is Bruce has flagged it up and online is the new pub talk and fanzines. Its always been the case, more so with poor managers/players/owners. Its one of the reasons Brucve was so hated, whether he's throwing us under the bus for the sake of sympathy/deflecting his record (did it with Villa where the cabbage moniker was formed) or just too stupid to realise he's inviting this context-less pile in on us. I bet the sacked Charlton manager (two more wins than Bruce) has been called all sorts, who prays for him? who stands up the vicious Charlton fans?

Going to be a very interesting team selection. Actually cant wait for that alone. The Jo situation and whether, depending on how the game is going, Gayle gets a good wedge of time (30mins or so) at his former club. Given how they looked the other night, we'd do well to get a draw probably. Were gonna regret giving Bruce the fixtures he got for a good while I fear. -
When we weren't a threat.

His reputation at Newcastle and Villa is dogshit His reputation at sunderland, no doubt rewritten now, was similar If Hull fans like him fine, but that reminds me of a Clint line "a man has to know his limtiations"

Anybody would think Holt was a scouser the way he throws bile around and yet completely oblivious to it gets on a moral pedestal like grease lightning.

Guy who defended and went to the boxing in Saudi but very much against a rival club indulging as he did innit?

Keegan on NUTV hosting a match from his days (playing/managing) with a relevant guest would be good. I'd actually watch it for the very first time. But then I'd watch Love Island if Keegan was in it. -
That's Turkish but your point stands. Raved about our fans at the 98 cup final, not that stuff like that matters but its appreciated nonetheless. Never thought about him before but actually, yes, as said with Ten Hag, mmmm.
-
Recall he had it at the mackems too. Despite being in the relegation zone. Think their ultimate demise (five years later) was even put down to getting rid of Bruce at times. Sure enough the mackems and Villa shot up the league straight after he was sacked.
-
Absolutely what it boils down to. Same as Souness and McLaren who like Bruce got their chance, whether we agreed with it or not, and ballsed it up horrendously. Proving us right in the process. Same as Keegan, Sir Bobby, Rafa. Fair enough in the main people got Dalglish and Gullit wrong, but on paper they seemed good appointments and nobody minded enough either way re Roeder, Smith and Ossie. Its not rocket science ffs. Who would want a provenly poor manager to manage there team ffs?
-
Even Pat Nevin, smarter than your average pundit, pointed out amongst how poor we were that the fitness levels were shot after 15minutes at the end was on about 'done a good job' 'deserves respect' their pity for this bloke blinds them and if he wasn't so pitiful he'd hate being defended like an incapable hopeless case, like being patted on the back and given a medal for coming last at sports day. But being thick and truly hopeless Bruce laps all that up.
-
Bruce had one more game in the Premier League than Rafa had right? One inherited a team in disarray and in the relegation zone and with miniscule backing left them midtable looking upwards The other inherited a team in midtable and with reasonable backing left them in the relegation zone in total disarray. So rests Rafa v Bruce 2016-2021

Roeder was instantly more attacking and a big improvement on his predecesssor. His predecessor was Souness though so could easily have generally been very negative and disorganised.

Yes Steven, you just listen to the man that ruined Liverpool and Newcastle and managed the unprecedented double of failing at both Galatasaray and Benfica, with his football knowledge -
a paid journalist covering NUFC thinks someone played for us who never did, sums up Edwards perfectly- actually, wouldn't be surprised if Bruce thinks he did.
-
"Bruce's tenure of the club he once played for was always doomed, but he should depart with a thank-you" Bruce played for us?!!?
-
When the next manager asks for an end product, he'll break. Anyway obviously glad he's gone, had to, wonder if the media can cite a case where a manager hasn't won any of their first 9 largely promosing games of a season, behaved unprofessionally in press-conferences, had the fitness levels of players noticably low and team morale shot not getting the push, for context? Slight concern we've had to haggle him down mind, but no doubt will be assuaged on that score here. Not taking every single penny is actually better than I gave him credit for, absolute bare minimum but still better than I expected.
-
Hate that inference that it must be sound because we're the only ones that voted against it from that sky prick How many clubs would have voted against Abramovich and Man City given the chance? 19 probably. "Treason doth ne'er prosper, what's the reason, for if all prosper, none dare call it treason" Its an absolute disgrace, makes a mockery of sport and business but because it suits them, that's fine. Maybe 18 clubs can go after Chelsea and Man City next, I mean why not? if we all agree on a way to stuff them up its sound right. "That bloke that qualified for the 100m final with record times can begrudingly participate in the final but isn't allowed to run as fast as the medal posistions"
-
They've categorically stated it "isn't a knee jerk reaction to the Newcastle takeover", I'm happy to take their vested interest word for it and put this all down as the biggest coincidence of all time.
-
Just organised crime, which is basically what this is.

I think that helps explain how I feel about the Pardew v Bruce debate. Pardew at least has an anti-hero face turn in him and charisma. Would get the right kind of heat. Bruce only gets the 'you can't wrestle' heat
