  1. Howe obviously felt the need to sign him...

At Barca though? Can't say I watched him extensively like, but in the CL he was always one I thought was shite tbh. You can pick other players, but £40m (in modern money) on a RB, pre Guardiolia spending tons on them is a huge amount.

Marcelino is a shoo-in. £9m at the time was silly money for a defender that ended up not playing.
  4. It's not necessarily a binary choice like that. We massively improved structurally when he was playing for us, despite him being a shite finisher.
  5. It's N-O, this is all wasted energy. You've seen the hills people die on over nowt in chat.
  6. We were all here Froggy. Just one example of low hanging, low effort Froggy vs Froggy. VS Which was the exact criticism of the signing at the time - that you'd spent a ridiculous amount on someone who was old and whose legs were likely about to go

I always remember thinking he was absolutely shite. Like really bad.
  8. He played more last season, I'm just also no convinced playing up top in a middling Dyche team tells us how he'd fair in a better team. Whereas how he played under that Ancelotti Everton team might.
  9. There's no reason that needs to be the case, he can be a plan B or we can adapt the way that the ball goes into him/Isak. More than 1 way to skin a cat and all that. Everyone hated Chris Wood, but we were in top 4 form for all of his extended time in the team.
  10. I definitely take the point and you could be right, but as DCL was very good for almost all of the time Ancelotti was there (and wasn't injured) I'm willing to put it down to that rather than a random purple patch. Tbf, since then I don't think he's been fit/up to speed/in a good team long enough to come to any conclusion either.

If we're doing one for transfer fees then: (fees adjusted for football transfer inflation) Kepa: 70m Michael Reiziger: £42m David Luiz: £80m Fofana: £97m Francesco Coco: £77m Pogba: £129.7m Joao Felix: £113.5m Dembele: £113.75m Anthony: £90m Torres: £144m Schevchenko: £136.5m
  12. And you defended that at the time as well if anyone else criticised it.
  13. And the answer would be the same as it always is for anyone who grew up watching football in the '90s. We don't like anything associated with Man United.
  14. Think a better question is why would anyone perceive it as being mad?

I honestly can't get over Lukaku's combined fees over the years.
  16. Think anything sub £20m would be amazing tbh, though agree that £30m probably is too high with a year left.
  17. I'd 100% snap their hands off for him around that like, I think people are really underrating him/forgetting how prolific he was in a good team with a good manager.

    England

Whoever gets through will likely target their full backs, but it's probably tricky when you consider their wing forwards.
  19. Turin is miles away, if he's there anyway.
  20. I for one think £30m for a 27 year old backup/plan b striker who has a 1 in 2 record under a good manager is actually a really good deal (if he stayed fit)

Here's mine, combined transfer fees. Slightly difficult because of inflation. Flopsbum Launderers Kepa: £70m Glen Johnson: £30m (roughly £86.5m per football inflation calculator) Francesco Coco: £20.5m (roughly £77m now) David Luiz: £100m Fofana: £97m Arthur Melo: £100m Paulinho: £107.3m Joaõ Felix: £116.8m Dembele: £189.2m Lukaku: £291.9m Morata: £162.5m Total: £1,398,000,000
  22. Spain's 21 has been very good since coming on, really got Spain more control and up the pitch
  23. I'd love to know how it came to be that class only oozes
