I was wondered that myself. The Joelinton we know who wasn't here tonight? Tonali?
-
I totally agree. What he lacked in quality he made up for in balls. It was weird.
-
And Foden was really good, but I have to say that I don't really get why we didn't man mark him from 20 minutes on. I'm sure there's a reason, I just don't know what it is.
-
To reiterate, Schär and Botman didn't deserve to lose tonight. They erased Haaland
-
Howe won't be happy with that at all. Man City were better than us, no doubt, but goal aside offered little, cruised through the match and we never looked like us from the first second. We had opportunities and pussied out for whatever reason. The players are human, it happens, it's something to learn from, but where was the fearlessness we know this team for? Fair play to Man City, they're treble winners for a reason, but I think their reputation won the match tonight. A no fucks given team beats them tonight, and I think Sevilla had a bit of the same rabbit in the headlights that we did mentally. Pope: 5 Trippier: 7 Schär: 9 Botman: 9 Burn: 6 Bruno: 5.5 Joelinton: 4.5 Tonali: 6 Gordon: 5.5 Isak: 6 Almiron: 4 (feel bad giving that because it's not that he ever hid, but on the ball he sucked) Barnes: 6.5 Wilson: 5 Anderson: 7

Botman and Schär have a good right to be pissed off with how we've been on the ball and going forward, they've been outstanding
-
He's not good enough to do that imo. Good player, but unless he's found another level not that good to dominate against is without it being us not hitting our best.
-
If this is Man City turning it on (don't think it is tbh) based on when we've seem them doing it before, then we're doing extremely well
-
Nothing to worry about in the grand scheme of things, but we need some sort of plan for Foden. He shouldn't constantly be finding space like he is. Thought they've been their usual boring, efficient selves. We could be better, Joelinton inparticular not at his usual imperious self.
-
If we don't get control of Foden we're done basically.

Manchester City vs. Newcastle United: 19/08/23 @ 20:00 (TNT Sports)

A performance is all I'm looking for here. Still a free hit despite how much we've improved -
I hope they go simple and retro rather than contemporary and new. Basically re-releasing Juve 17-18 with our badge and Sela would sell insane amounts. Adidas should also seriously consider bringing back the Trefoil on football kits, it looks class and it's iconic.
-
Oh sweet jesus I'm going to go morally and financially bankrupt
-
Man United look shit, it's brilliant
-
Bissouma's looking like a completely different player
-
I can't stand Man United and their stereotypical fans, but impressed that they've flexed some fan power and forced the club to eat shit and do the right thing against their clear intentions. All for it, no matter which club it is.
-
Now you're (sort of) getting it.
-
Aye, this is exactly it. The problem is that when hypocrisy is pointed out, you don't have to look very hard. It’s nigh on impossible to live a life where someone can't point the finger and say 'aha, well you do this' because it's everywhere. No reason why we shouldn't want things to be better though eg manufacturers not charging obscene fees and pushing people to the grey market.
-
People say this all the time when it's not Newcastle related, but people did care, it just wasn't as visible to us in our Newcastle bubble.
-
Probably is if you couldn't give the first shit about the queen but support Newcastle like
-
Yeah, otherwise we wouldn't be talking about it. Let's wrap this up, we're being boring.
-
I mean I'd be talking about myself if that's what I was on about. Me and Nees were talking about the idea of having to like them as people.
-
Maybe not, but he's definitely more of a dead cert in terms of knowing what you're going to get than Hall, Livramento, Tonali, Minteh. We knew what we were getting with Trippier, Burn, Targett, Wood, even Bruno imo because he looked so complete already. Now that we're signing potential the obvious risk is in the unknown. So far, so good with Isak. We'll see how we get on with the rest.

and 1 in the premier league. And he's 23. You know what I mean.
